SuperThread 🤣🤣

So they do make incentives that match the original incentive price.
We also got into something similar on our WDW tour just after passing ROFR on our VGC points. Riviera points in the 150s to low 160s range as long as you got 300 or so of them. Didn't have to sell any back either so had "double points" at that price. Ended up going for the 500+ range which saved us a few more bucks. At that time resale for Riviera was around 120 so the 30 ish dollar delta for direct was worth it. They have been very helpful as SAP points.

VDH has had one sale since it's launch that was slightly better than launch pricing. I would guess there may be more depending on how the economy goes.

Anxiously awaiting Feb 10th for these current ones to expire and see If there's anything good!

I was hoping they had stuff like this 😀
We often travel to WDW around the holidays but this was our first NYE. I had tried to research resort activities before hand but there was really not much posted. So I was pleasantly surprised. I’d love to hear what other resorts do so thanks for asking!

Youre welcome! Yes I'm guessing they change the fireworks from MK on that day so maybe a stay at BLT watching the new fireworks or if the lounge did something that could be a fun night!

QOTD: So my wife is concerned that if we don't buy AKV and buy Riv, one day AKV will be so popular, especially with the new refurbishment, that we won't get to stay there. I told her that that's impossible because the resort is already sold out and there is more availability there than RIV because of Kidani.

From what I understand the resort can't just start selling new contracts and bringing in more people is this correct? Is it also correct in thinking that maybe rooms will be harder to get at first after the refub, but it will wear off after people move on to the next shiny thing (Perhaps LSL) ? Thanks for the input!

ATTQOTD: The home advantage for RIV is infinitely better than home advantage for AKV. We own both and I never sweat getting a room at AKV (I’ve given up on value rooms) but I am always nervous when trying to book RIV. The points have been allocated, they cannot issue more, they can only change owners.

Thank you this is what i thought, she is only interested in SV and I said that won't be a problem at all! But RIV especially with resale only being able to book there is going to be hard if we don't snag it

I used to own AKV and sold it to get a resort where the booking priority is useful. Maybe at the very end of the contracts AKV might get problematic to book as a lot of resorts should be out of the system for resale, but as of now it’s pretty much open then entire year.

I love the resort and stayed at GV there last August and it was fantastic, but unless you want club/value, there’s no need to own there right now.

Yeah I definitely think AKV (and the other original resorts) will get tougher to book after 2042 once the resort pool shrinks. Especially with all the SSR and OKW owners trying to buy cheap SAP points and trying to book any resort except their own "resorts of last resort." The more people buy into it like that, the less likely it will be to work. Especially once the original pool of resorts shrinks.

Thank you! Easy decision then riviera it is!

Overall I agree with your assessment that it’s easy to book at akv but I’d say if you want to be in jambo for other room types including the GVs you should consider owning there. The jambo gv is pretty awesome.
I don't think I'll ever stay there too much $$$ for me

Hmmmm...... you may not think like that forever. Don't forget DVC is a very flexible program and with bank/borrow rules you could trade in your 150 points at AKV into a 450 point "bucket" of points to jump in and grab a GV for 5 nights or so every few years. Let's say a few years from now there is a special event/milestone you want to celebrate, it's an option you could consider if you were willing to skip/delay a few other trips. Lot of options. We also love the Kidani GV and those seem to be easier to book than Jambo at 7 months.

We got the AKV points because we love the resort, we want to be able to ninja in at Jambo when we really need/want to stay there, we want to have the ability to get in there during the few hard to book times in the future when even the larger villas may be competitive (early Dec as an example), to hope for a 1BR club level in the future, and mostly for the Jambo GVs.

For family reunions and stuff we'll likely stay Kidani side for the extra bathrooms in the 1 and 2BR units. Very much looking forward to the remodel. Hopefully it's not as concerning as the VGC remodel is right now......

This is true, it would be nice for an anniversary or special occasion and I didn't realize it would actually be doable with banking and borrowing so I never even looked at it, just thought that's for the rich folk 🤣🤣 do you think the jambo one is the nicest grand villa of all the resorts? I was thinking that there are definitely benefits over other resorts if we ever want a super cheap stay or a club level chance we have to own there.. were pretty much set on akv or riv so we said at the time we're ready to pull the trigger, which will be between now and end of summer, we will go with the best direct offer since we love them both. What is concerning about the VGC remodel? Yes hopefully they listen to people and make the rooms brighter and more inviting!

Has anybody bought a home resort without actually staying there? I didn't even think to book Riviera on our stay last month because it just wasn't on my radar. Lo and behold, I go there and aesthetically it was my favorite. We went on the skyliner to see how that was, we ate at primo piatto and we interacted with cast members who were very friendly and walked the grounds and we enjoyed it all. Do you think this is good enough to get a feel for it or we def should stay before? I have a reservation booked at riv for September, but we will have the funds before then and if an enticing incentive comes up I wouldn't want to let it pass by 🤔

I’m not sure it will be that much of an issue. When contracts end those points won’t be in the system anymore to use elsewhere.
I think it will become harder the more direct points are sold, but not from points leaving the system.

So you like the Jambo GV better than Kidani GV?
Besides location, what are the main differences in the rooms themselves?

We bought at Riviera before it opened. At the time, we were considering there and Copper Creek. After looking at the difference in the model rooms, we went with Riviera. Cooper Creek studios were so much smaller. Another thing we liked was it is walkable. Some resorts you have to take a bus to get to the main areas or have to walk outside, something not too pleasant in rainy weather. We also stayed at Kidani and if you’re at one of the resort ends, it’s easier to drive to the lobby.
