Superstar Television, then Doug....MGM

Hi -
Back in the mid to late '90s, my DW and I really enjoyed the superstar television attraction at MGM. They then replaced it with the Doug Live show - we didn't enjoy that as much (no kids). But that only had a short stint, and I was wondering if anybody knew of plans to use that building for another attraction? For those of you who may not know what I'm talking about, it's the building next to the Drew Carey sound stage attraction and outside the exit of the Great Movie Ride.

Thanks. H2bG

The last time it was used was about two years ago when they did a show there that was basically a preview of the upcoming ABC television season. Since then it has not housed any attraction, and I haven't seen any rumors of it being used for anything. I attended an AP event in March of '03 and that building was where they had us for the hour in between park closing and the start of the event. They had a DJ on the stage and they brought people up for various contests. That was the last time I was in there.

That theatre is known as the ABC theatre and is not currently in use, at least not for guests, although I believe they used it for Star Wars Weekends. This week, it's the site for a cast choir and orchestra concert called Encore. :) I'm in it. We are doing America themed music. But it's only open to CMs and family and friends.

There's a thread on the Rumors and News board that is stating that they may reintroduce Superstar Television back into the ABC Theatre using ABC shows.

One would think that they would have done this a long time ago. Free advertising for ABC shows, why wouldn't money-grubbing Eisner do that?

Anyway, I'd love to have Superstar TV back, but I can't really see any ABC shows that would fit. They don't have the all-around appeal of what used to be there, like "I Love Lucy" or "Cheers."
