After having to cancel the holiday twice again by Covid, we are now hopefully really going next year. But because we had to wait so long, I was able to continue saving and we also want to do Universal. There are 4 of us. But because parking is so expensive at the hotels and we don't really need a car there, I wondered how to get from MCO to Loews Royal Pacific Resort. I read on Google about the SuperStar Shuttle that comes with Universal, but I was wondering if anyone knows if that Shuttle is still running? Because I can't find anything about it on Universal's website. I've been thinking about an Uber too, but we're stuck with the high season because of the kids, so we're out in July and I'm so afraid we'll have to wait hours for that too. Does anyone have experience with the Shuttle or with the waiting times of Uber in high season?

You won't have issues with Uber/Lyft...there are plenty of drivers. Usually a 5-10 minute wait. But can be kinda crazy in the waiting zone. Only thing have to pay attention to is if it's a 'surge pricing' time and rates are higher...those are usually the very busiest of times at the airport, or when theme parks close and everyone trying to get a ride. I also recommend having both apps on your phone and compare the 2 to see who has the cheaper rate.

Believe the Superstar shuttle is running, and there is a # can call if not booking Universal package (don't know what it is). But the shuttle is priced per person, and may have to go to other hotels to drop off guests before get to your hotel.. Uber/Lyft is going to be quicker.

With your party size you will need an XL size ride share. At that point, it probably will work out cheaper to do a car service. My brain was stuck on ride share vs shuttle and forgot about car services. Tony Hinds gets a lot of love on this board and a quick search will pull up his contact info. Much better than a shuttle.

We use MCO black taxi. They track your flight, text you where to go when you land, and park “in the tunnel” (during normal times, last time they were out by busses but they tell you where to go). They have clean and nice child seats and vehicles that can seat large parties. You prepay on their site and no worries from there! We have used them for years and I’m surprised they are not more widely known.

Thank you for your advice. I think we'll look for Uber / Lyft after all. Can I ask something about that? How does that work with a tip? Do you give that in cash or do you pay it immediately via the app? And how if, as you say, there are indeed a large group of people waiting, how do you know which car is for you?

I will also take a look at that, thank you for the tip

I took Uber from my hotel to Universal in 2019 and when you use the app to book your trip they will send you an notification and give you a description of the vehicle like a red toyota corrola you just look for that vehicle and they will have a uber sign on their vehicle, it also shows a map through the app that shows where your driver is and how long it will be before they get to you.
Uber will also send you a notification to pay for and add a tip. Hope this makes sense. Have a great trip.

Check out the Transportation to/from Airport from Universal thread

As always, I will highly recommend Tony Hinds - as will any other number of people here on the boards. His transport includes a free stop at a grocery store, which can also come in handy.

I had a terrible experience with the Universal shuttle a number of years ago and would never recommend using it. The shuttle is NOT run by Universal, but is subcontracted out.

(If you search my posts on the transportation board, you can see details of why Tony is awesome and why the shuttle isn't.)

I would look into Uber or Lyft or a car service.

I have had very mixed results with Super Star Shuttle and only get it when I am on my own.

I have had issues of them not being there if you arrive off hours and its a pain to get it all sorted
They also want you to leave for the Airport way too early IMO

If you do go with Uber or Lyft - make sure you get a car big enough for your luggage - I have seen people trying to get two large bags and people into a tiny car and the Driver would not use the trunk.

As many of this board will recommend use Tony Hinds if you want a smooth transport back and forth
