Superstar Character Breakfast - OpenTable or Pre-Pay?

Hi! Major Universal Newbie here with SO many questions!

I'm so used to Disney ADRs with cc holds, etc.

I want to book a table for the Superstar Character Breakfast. I was about to do the pre-pay option through the Universal website when I noticed I could make a reservation, for free, on opentable.com. I would much prefer to do this in case something comes up and I need to cancel (and I will cancel because I don't want to jeopardize my open table account!), but I'm just nervous the reservation somehow won't be honored. I'm just wondering if anyone else has booked the Superstar Character Breakfast through opentable.com and it was ok?

Nothing wrong with booking on open table for most restaurants but I don't see a link for it on the website page for the character dining, so I would stick with the option they give which is to pay in advance.
