first timer, going to stop by a supermarket before our cruise. Besides bottled water (useful for port stops?) are there any other items we should bring on board (excluding alcohol of course)? thanks for help

You don't really need to bring bottled water onboard. Of course, it's your call if you wish to do this, but the water onboard (from the drink stations; making ice; preparing food; etc) is processed the same as most bottled water (reverse osmosis and filtered). We just bring along our personal refillable water bottles and use those. Plus, you'll need to carry on any beverages you are bringing onboard (not allowed in checked bags).

Rather than wrestling with bottled water, just bring a few insulated tumblers with you. Fill them before you head out on your port stop.

You'll find the Publix a bit south of the port to have anything you can think of and reasonable prices.

If you're flying in and don't want to pack a million bottles of sunscreen, that could be part of your list. We went through at least a bottle a day of the spray kind for my family of four, two at castaway cay (we burn easily).

We brought empty reusable water bottles for each of us and washed them out each night. We flew and I checked our luggage so brought everything we needed from home and really didn't need to stop for anything. If you are planning to carryon only or don't have enough space for everything, I can think of the following: bottles of sunscreen and (depending on itenerary) bug spray. Wine, champagne or beer is allowed in limited quantities if you drink alcohol and if you are a soda drinker, maybe a few bottles or cans to keep in the room but you will have to carry those around on the ship until your room is ready. Diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food if you have a little one.

Since we flew in, we saved all of the hair sprays, gels, shampoo and conditioner for the store (to save on weight) because we were packing for 19 days of vacation. We bought sun screen, rootbeer (because its not on the ship and we wanted floats at night), ziplock bags, popcorn for in the theaters (DD has food allergies), candy, potato chips in individual bags to not get soggy (and we never saw chips on the ship), beef jerky, oreos, pineapple juice in cans, and 2 cases of water. There was more, but I cant think of it all right now.

Oh, we also bought bug spray. We used way more bug spray than sun screen. AND I cannot tell you how many times I yelled at idiots using sunscreen spray cans at the pool and were down wind from us. They COVERED our stuff and our food in their sunscreen. I wish that stuff was banned on the pool deck!

When I make my pit stop, I buy bags of candy for the movies. I also get a few pre-packaged snacks (granola bars etc) in case I need to stock my bag with these during excursions. We occasionally buy a few snacks for the room (chips, pretzels). It's not like there's any shortage of food on the ship, but sometimes it's nice to just eat some chips. And then of course, we buy WINE!!!!!!!!
