Now that ive got your attention can you please give me some advice.Ive been looking on the Virgin website today and have been quoted £2350 for a fly drive (2 adults-2 kids) for oct 2005,this includes car insurance.I know most of you reading this will have far more experience of booking a florida holiday than me(have only been once)so can you advise me if you think this is a good price. We are hoping to share a villa with family so the whole trip(excluding theme park tickets and alcohol !)will be about £3000-i think this is a good deal but am i right?
Many thanks in advance

Hi Dor,

Have you tried pricing up on your dates (for Oct 2004 to give you an idea) at Expedia.co.uk? IMHO the Virgin price seems a little bit pricey for a fly drive (assuming your 2 children count as "children" for flight prices and that you have not selected PE)

Thanks

Karen

No, thats a terrible price (in my opinion)...assuming its economy and not during half term!

Try the same flight and add on car rental though Expedia, and I would imagine you would be looking at considerably less....although the dates you require may be too far ahead to book yet. To give you an example, I am looking to book a fly-drive for this Nov, and the Virgin direct price (for 3 Adults & 2 kids) was around £2200. Expedia did the same flight and car package for £1700. The only downside to it, was the flights are not transferable, as they are with booking direct.

Lots of other companies book Virgin flights, and you will be looking at several hundred pounds less than what you have been quoted. Try bonvoyage, chartertravel, floridabees and cheapflights.

The infamous Travel City Direct book British Airways at rock bottom prices, though the car hire can be pricey. The BA website sometimes have excellent deals, and its worth checking periodically.

Personally, that sounds far too much for a fly drive and I would be inclined to do some serious shopping around before committing to that deal.

Let us know if you find a better deal.

I am pretty certain you can't book P/E flights with expedia, so they must be (business class) Upper Class ..:D
