Day 4

Didn’t visit the concierge desk this morning, way hey! So it was straight to the parks, well not straight as we stayed sleeping longer than we planned but finally left it was 9:30am so not that bad, however as we got near the bus stop the Epcot one was on it’s way out the hotel, bummer because it was going to mean a 20 minute wait at least. When it did turn up I was thinking, it is not going to be so bad, I am sure we will be able to do all 3 main rides when get to Epcot.

- Epcot

So we go via normal bag search. I know they are doing a job and trying to keep us all safe but they range from hardly looking to empty everything on the table. The one I had today was empty everything on table, and far enough it just a small inconvenience for safety but just why are we queuing for this at just after 10am? Then over to the ticket barrier to queue some more!!! I was thinking at this point "did I pick the wrong park to go to today (the day after Thanksgiving)" well turns out Sorin is the most popular ride in Disney World and that’s what everyone was going to do. Anyway once we got the group all past the ticket bit, I head off with one of the girls to collect the fast passes for Sorin and everyone else headed towards Mission Space. Anyways we get in to the building for Sorin and the crowds where unreal and get down to the fast pass bit and says 2pm return, "what it’s only 10:20" how can it be 2pm already and 60 minute wait?? Well that was that ride scraped, no point in getting the fast passes, so we head back out. Now Disney should think about displaying the times as you enter that big building, I bet loads of people would have turned around and went else where instead of adding to the crowds inside.. anyway no big deal, off to meet everyone at Mission Space.

Turns out everyone was at Sorin, and Mission Sapce had a 10 minute wait.. magic, so I run over to Test Track and grab fast passes for that and then head in to do Mission Space by this time it was a 20 minute wait, but that’s not a problem. My wife and her mother stay off with my son but before we went in we asked for our rider swap ticket (note, never forget to ask for this even if you don’t plan to ride that day). So as we wait to go on the ride, the youngest in the group (Amanda) starts to get freaked out by the warnings all over the place. These where a bit hard core I felt, it was enough to scare a child and it did, but then again I guess they where trying to be honest as after all they don’t want people in that are going to get motion sickness. So as we get to the front, I offer to stay off with her as she was crying at this point, didn’t help her other 2 sisters and even her dad was winding her up about how bad the ride would be, shame on them ;) Anyway she says it ok she will go on as she said she would try everything, so on we go. I was the commander and she was the pilot and I forget what the other one was, as it only takes 4 people per ride area 3 of us went on 1 and 2 on another. Anyways she loved it and done all her Pilot tasks bang on time, I loved it also.. however I could notice the fact we where are spinning. If you look forward and at the screen you won’t notice it at all or as much however even doing that, my mind wasn’t being fully trick however rest all reported they didn’t notice the spinning, so must have just been me.. but not a problem as I don’t get that sick on that type of ride.

Any how that was a good one :) We got off and the wife, her mum and Amanda (the one that was crying before she got on and then loved it) went back on thanks to the rider swap ticket and right in to the fast track queue.

By the way this ride has next to no wait for single riders, keep that in mind if you don’t fancy it yourself, as you won’t be waiting out side too long if only 1 in your group wants to do it. But you really should give it a go at least once.

IMG_0191.JPG

After that it was off to Test Track, waited for 10 mins outside for our fast pass time to come, when it did come we done a rider swap and this time wife stayed off first again, my wife and I where the only ones in the group that had ever done Test Track before as last time with 2 of the girls we waited in the queue and it broke down. Anyway you would not believe this we go to the fast pass queue and wait for 5 mins for it only to go and break down, I was like no way this happened last time 2 years ago. So out we go, our fast passes could be used again that day but we where not staying the full day. However only good thing was we had a rider swap and it was usable for next 3 days, so in the wallet that went.

Not having the best of luck and feeling hungry we headed off to get food. Picking Morocco, way around the other side, well it is if you go the wrong way round LOL ;) But that was good as gave us a chance to see the different countries and very nice some of them looked also, here are a couple of pictures from some of them.

So we have our counter service at Morocco, was huge chicken thing I had and was really nice but they gave you this oil dip thing with it, that to me didn’t taste of anything so didn’t use it but still a nice counter service, desert was a some Moroccan thing and it was super sweet and was only able to have 2 bites but hey I never ever have desert at lunch time so wasn’t a problem and besides the dinning plan is designed to stuff your face, I think ;)

After lunch and having a “bad” well not actually bad, just not a “as planned” day in Epcot we decided to call it a day and come back when it’s less busy and a day we can get up on time ;) Before we left we walked past France and the girls got sun umbrellas and the guy wrote the names on them, as it took 30 odd minutes we walked over to see the "UK" and get a pint. Wow the pint is expensive and might be British Bar Maids but I am guessing none of them had worked in a bar as it had a head on it like they had just given me an ice cream cone, felt that was poor as the least they could do is get it right when charging you an arm and a leg ;) Still didn’t complain as it was more an experience of drinking in UK part than actually drinking to get tipsy.

One thing, I felt Wales and Scotland where grossly under represented in the UK part, they might as well have just called in England. Wouldn’t have had a problem with that, what I am meaning is if you call something UK, you need to chuck in a bit from all of the UK but if it comes off looking like it’s all England then just call it that, will save confusing our American friends who almost all think Scotland is in another country from the UK ;) Anyway that’s not a big deal as I consider myself British and love and get on with many people in England so hope you see my point and not take it as me wanting them to have a load of people in kilts and bag pipes running about ;) By the way Canada had more “Scottish” going on than UK with Off Kilter Band LOL ;) and than again I could have missed the Scottish and Welsh part as I didn't exactly explore ;)

Ok way off track, anyways we decided to go to MGM via Boat and this gave me a chance to show parents-in-law the boardwalk and Beach Club that we had stayed in before while getting to MGM in a more interesting form of transport than a bus.

Day 4 - Next Part

Here is a bunch of pictures on that boat. I recommend to everyone to use this way to go from Epcot to MGM, but not the other way around as MGM always had big queues for the boat but that might just have been this time of year.

Anyway we get off the boat and as we walk towards MGM some older guy from Canada stops me and starts talking about my camera and how he always wanted to try one and I was like no problem here you go, then he said he would take a picture of your family under the tree, I was like cool (me finally in a few for a change).. Now the guy was in his 60’s so I wasn’t worried he was about to do a runner with it, if he been early 20’s I might have thought twice what with me not being as fit as I used to be LOL ;)

Anyway here was the photo he took, done a dam good job for first time using it, even say he was as good as the photo pass people ;)

- MGM

So MGM we had came back to do some shows, however numpty here forgot his glasses so couldn’t actually see them as clear as I would have liked. I am not blind as a bat or anything just things lose sharpness after so many hundred meters ;) Not to worry we just went to the shows I seen before ;) So done The Little Mermaid, she is one of my top list of Disney babes that I like ;) When I got engaged to my wife, the ring was in a Little Mermaid box that when it opened played “Part of Your World” what a romantic guy, ah girls LOL .. joking aside the girlfriend-soon-to-become-wife loved it, and it must have worked as I am married 6 years now :) Sorry totally off track again!

IMG_0953.JPG

Spent a little while longer here, then it was back to the hotel and to use the swimming pool plus get a few beers and wine for the adults. We also ordered room service this night as we couldn’t get any place for a table service. Room service was expensive but good, well pizza was rubbish but the other food was nice, and the banana splits where amazing they even had the bowls in, bigger bowls of ice and cling film to kept it in place until you where ready to eat.. also had little cups of nuts and Mickey heads to sprinkle … oh that was a lovely desert, yum :) I also went down to the Concierge desk and booked Boma for breakfast the next day as I worked out we didn’t have the spending of our table points in working order as we didn’t find any place to use them today and as yet never had anything for the following day planned so, idea was Boma and possibly 2 counter services that next day.. but tell you how that went in Day 5.

I also said to them, I notice we are booked for the Wishes Cruise for 8pm on that print out you gave me and I am sure Magic Kingdom said Wishes Fireworks where at 10pm, could you check that for me. Sorry sir you have to speak to the Cruise Line desk people. Ah! :confused3 I said, it’s not a real cruise it’s more like a boat trip, and she says no it’s them you speak too. I was like ok.. so went to the desk, no one on it, so I picked up the phone and got connected to Disney Cruise people.. she was nice but said it’s not us you want it’s Disney Play and Rec. So I go back and the woman at Concierge says oh sorry about that, ah we can’t call them as it’s past a certain time but you can call them from your room, press 0 and ask for it.. I was like, ok.. odd, anyway I walked over to the desk in the lobby next to the tree and called them from here, how could they not just put me through on the phone they had. But boy was I glad I did, as the guy was like ah no Wishes is at 10pm so you come along for 9pm so if we went at 8pm we been standing like lemons for an extra hour, however the guy from Play and Rec was nice but did ask me to wait while he confirmed some stuff and I was wondering if maybe they mucked up the booking and just put a nice face on it. Who knows, all I know was I am glad I checked and everything was sorted for the next night. So I will tell you all about Wishes Cruise (Boat Trip) in Day 5 :)

Too many photos for the 1 post, so had to break it up. However seeing as I went a bit overboard with the Boat Trip photos I could have dropped some of them, so I hope none of you are sea sick as your in it for the whole trip :).. You would be thinking this was a ride and not just transportation LOL ;)

Looks like you were having fantastic weather! :sunny:

Yes, that's important and what waiters and waitress are good for as well ;) But don't forget the photo pass people as I used that service many a time purely so I could be in one with the rest of the family.

I actually had a lot of groups friends and family’s stop me and ask if I take a photo of them with there camera, just hope they turned out ok for them. Come to think about it I easily took photos of over a dozen groups.. mmm maybe I should get a job as a photo pass person LOL ;)

Is Northern Ireland no longer part of the UK then? ;)

Have never been to the 'UK land' at Epcot so can't really comment on whether all aspect of the UK (including NI) are represented.

Gald you managed to have a good day, even if it didn't all go to plan. Shame you didn't get on Soarin' - I hope you managed to get on it another day :)

Absolutely and many apologies for not including Northern Ireland in my rambling.. small confession I was out before making my day 4 post so that could explain why I was going off in many directions as I had a couple too many lemon sherbets ;) Don’t Drink and Post, it will be a government campaign in 10 years time :)

As for Soarin, I sure did and that explained why it was so busy once I finally got on that, but I cover that in a report a few days from this.

Just like to add I wasn’t going to bother writing a report on the forum but I am so glad I have, it’s extended the holiday for me as I have to think about what I am writing it’s letting me relive (sadly in my head only) the great time I had. I would recommend everyone do it as actually sitting thinking about what happened on such and such a day and having some photos to look back on to jog the memory really is handy for telling family about more of the detail (that’s if they not sick of you going on about it already) ;)

Very detailed trip report. Brilliant Photos. Looks like you had a great time :-))))).

Clarke,
I'm enjoying your reports. Smart of you to have adjusted plans as needed and not let that spoil your good time.

About Scotland being represented at EPCOT--During the seasons just before and just after 2000 there was a clever display about Scotland in the Millennium Village (in World Showcase for that period of time). I remember that there was a golf game and a tribute honoring an impressive list of inventors from Scotland.

Looking forward to reading more of your reports.

really enjoying these - looking forward to the next bit!
