I just opened a letter that came from him yesterday, and he got his duty station: Ft. Bragg, NC, 82nd Airborne! :woohoo:

He's still in bootcamp, but only 2 other people in his paltoon made it for 82nd! Just about everyone else has Ft. Richardson, Alaska. He was so worried he's get Alaska and end up losing his serious girlfriend.

Just had to share my excitement!!

That's great news - congrats to him!!!! :cheer2:

That's great for him and congratulations to himf or making a decision to even join the army. My dh's first duty station was Ft. Bragg. He loved it and I have visited there a couple times. The place is pretty good size and honestly probably the most HOOAH place in the army lol other than Ft. Benning. I wish good things for your brother and his girfriend. It is so hard maintaining a relationship in the army. Now only if we get where we want next...

Wishing your brother the very best in bootcamp and as he begins the process to earn jump wings he will treasurer all his life with his whole heart!

Ft Bragg holds a special place in our hearts as our son trained and was stationed there for quite a few yrs. If you have the opportunity to visit the base, it is well worth your while. They have special family week of shows, parades and mock war with huge amazing equipment drops demonstrating their powerful abilities. Luckily we are nr Andrews Air Force Base in MD. and have been fortunate to watch some of their annual jumps at Air Show. I am left in awe of the brave paratroopers fearless job and energy. Godspeed your soldier in his career and with his GF! :goodvibes

Pls give him a HOOAH from a proud Army Mom! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Congratulations to him! This is a very special accomplishment! My brother is career Army: started out in tanks then moved to aviation. He has another year to retirement and I am still looking at 25 - 30 before I can retire :sad2: If he can handle the moving part, about every 3 yrs, the Army is a great retirement option.

Congrats to your brother and welcome to NC. I have a friend who works at Ft Bragg processing the incoming so she will probably do his paperwork. Try to come visit but be warned summer is HOT. We are in the 90"s already.

:thumbsup2 My DH was in the 82nd years and years and years ago.... ;) :teeth:

Congratulations to your brother! My dad retired from the army and the 82nd airborne. He was stationed at Bragg and we would visit. It is a great honor!!

Thank you all so much! I will be sure to pass on everyone's well wishes!

He's still got a lot of bootcamp in the hot Ft. Benning heat left this summer. Family Day is on July 15th and I cannot wait to see him!

He knew full well what he was getting into. My DH is a USNA grad and Alex knew first hand all the moving and the strain it can be on relationships. I think he braced himself for the worst- losing his GF of several years while in bootcamp- and prayed for the best. So far, she's sticking it out. I think it speaks volumes for both of them as they're still young.

I have been sharing the news with everyone! Both my mom and dad work in the VA, so they have been very proud to finally be able to tell everyone that he's in bootcamp, but we know where he's going and he has the job that he's dreamed of :goodvibes Just so incredibly PROUD!
