Super Soap Weekend 2008?

Ok...I'm done giving information because no matter what I say or no matter what i try to do to help people, I'm met with people who want to argue with me.

I am not an idiot and the information that I have regarding booking the rooms without points came from DVC Reservation Agents - you know, the people who you actually deal with and book with? I have friends who work in all areas of Disney and in ABC. I know what I'm talking about.

Like I've said over and over, believe me or don't believe me, what i've said so far is the truth. I have my room booked, so it doesn't effect me, but i was trying to help as many people on here as I could. So from now on, I won't give any information - even when I have the attendees list and schedule ahead of time - I will keep that to myself and pretend with you guys that I'm waiting for it too.

Many people are just worrying if they have the correct dates booked. I for one am happy with the info you are giving. I booked my dates with your info. Please don't take it personally the crowds are getting roudy they want their Soaps:)

I certainly don't think you are an idiot. I think you are taking what some of us are expressing as an opinion as an attack on you and that's not it. I said my experience is reservations is not always consistent for DVC info. My experience. That's all. I was offering my own advice as well.

My thoughts in general is people take information from those 'in the know' as fact no matter what level of 'in the know' things are. That doesn't mean just you, but there were conflicting dates here and there is still nothing posted officially and like I said in my earlier post, you are well intentioned to give what information you have and I agree with you that no matter what people won't be happy. It's the manner in which the information is offered that is riling some people up. Things like done deal (or whatever wording) are upsetting to people who don't want to hear it when the official word isn't out and you are clearly unable to divulge your source (which is totally understandable). Posts and emails don't read the same way as intended often (mine included) so the emotion you intend when sharing the information as a way of helping people may read as being gospel.

Share or don't share what you have, that is your call. There are people with variying opinions on this board who are not upset by anything you have posted and others who feel the need to respond. But maybe different wording is a way to keep yourself from feeling attacked when you are clearly trying to be helpful. "I heard" instead of stating things as fact. In all fairness, your post where you gave the information you had about the change in dates was well worded but posts before and after (I just went back and read them to make sure I was being accurate) had more of a tone of 'bet on it' and 'sorry to disappoint but...'. The before posts referred to 8/9 dates and the after posts refer to 15/16 dates so you can see how people would get frustrated in the confusion.

Just my two cents....which means nothing in the grand scheme of life quite frankly. Nor does my opinion on when the dates are or should be or why until Disney makes them official.

Maybe all of these people moving rooms to the 15th/16th will open up enough rooms on the 8th/9th so that they can have it that weekend as originally planned.:rotfl2: Relax, I'm kidding.:rotfl:

I just left a meeting with Walt Disney himself.
Thanks to my physic friend.
He told me "there will be no super soap weekend this year"
Because of the fact it`s # 13
Disney is a fun place
and the # 13 is a bad omen.
As you all know all buildings omit The # 13 floor
sorry you all wasted your time .
and money for the event
He did say that in 2009 the 14 th Super Soap Weekend will be
November 7th and 8th

Understandable. I was just as upset when my friend told me the news about the change of dates, so I can see where people are coming from.

I know you're just joking about the 15/16th changing back to the 8/9th, but ABC always preferences Beach and Yacht club for most of their group visits, be it SSW, annual meetings, etc simply because they are close to the boardwalk and like very much to go :drinking1 and they are in walking distance to Epcot. They love frequenting the bars. Alcoholics

I see there's lots of opinions about this. :lmao:

I am new to SSW. We will actually be in WDW both the 8th and the 15th- so we can hit it either way. BUT- not knowing when the dates are, makes it hard for me to book my ADRs (which begin Friday morning- so I have exactly *Thursday* to hope the hours/SSW comes up!). We really want to book an ADR for SSW. I don't want to attend DHS that day if it is not going on. I don't think it is unrealistic to say that we should expect Disney to release this information at 180 days, especially given the enormous popularity of a one-weekend event.

I'd hate to book my dinner ADR for the 8th at MK, and the 15th at DHS, only to have to try to switch them once it's announced! Can you imagine the flood of dining calls WDW will get that day? Unlike many people, we don't get to WDW very often, so we really want to make the most of our time there. That includes having an ADR on a crazy busy day like SSW! :rotfl:

So in addition to my ADRs, perhaps I should move my ressie for the 15/16th to Beach or Yacht Club!! Sounds like I might have fun with those folks. :rolleyes1

:worship: I commend you for attempting to go eat during SSW. It's a crazy *** weekend. I tried doing that the first year i went not realizing how bad it was going to be, but since I try to go to all the GH events, it's near impossible since the talk shows are limited in how many people you do have to get online early. Last year they moved it to a bigger indoors area isntead of the ABC Theatre because the overall crowd keeps growing. I usually just grab a beer and popcorn during the events. We never sleep anyway, so i'll grab some food afterwards.

Yes it IS, and I am a little teed off at Disney for jerking us around about the Dates! Not your fault at all, I know you are passing on info you actually know.....however, I guess I will still wait and see, hope they realize the mistake they made, and have the dates Nov. 8 and 9th. Are these 15th and 16th Dates set in Stone?:confused3 I am hoping not, but if it is it is!:confused3

From what I've been told they are. Honestly, I think there's too much going on that second weekend of November. You have Festival of the Masters, and the last week of the F&W Festival, which draws a huge crowd. Last year attendance at SSW was at an all time high. Park reached maximum capacity and went through a phase, which is quite impressive for a soap event. The fact that they had to move the location from the ABC Theatre was their way to combat the crowd for the indoor talk shows, but I know hotel availability sold out really quickly last year. I expect it to be crazier this year.

My friend checked availabilty for me earlier on her computer to show me what rooms were available. For the most part, on the 8th and 9th, most of what we saw were concierge rooms and Suites with a few pool view rooms. on the 15 and 16th, it was mostly the 2bedroom/junior suites, etc. There is less avail for the 15th and the 16th, which makes sense as to why i could only get a stinkin' pool view. Rooms are now blocked for the third weekend.

I hope they change thier minds and have it the 8-9th cause my AP expires on the 10th! Either way I will probably be there. I have ressies for both weekends now.

OK so TeamStitch got me really nervous because I am booked at the Dolphin but hubby & I are seriously thinking about changing to the BC. I am waiting for hours, dates to be released plus some financial funds (HA! HA!)

So I went online to disney.com & checked both the 8/9 & 15/16 & there were a ton of rooms available for both dates at deluxes, GF, BC, etc for all different categories, statndard view, pool view, concierge etc.

So I really do not understand where the no room availability fits in.

It might sound like I am questioning Team Stitch or not appreciative of the info provided by him, I am not. I just panicked by the post so I decided to check.

I just wish they would release the info so I could make definite plans so this is a rant & nothing else....

And I am trying desperately to book the Dolphin for the 15th!!!:lmao:
We have the 13th/14th/16th/17th booked on spg points, but both Swan/Dolphin are booked solid for the 15th!!:headache:
I'm not even going for SSW - just the only time we can go for the holidays - now they are just messing with me!!
Tomorrow morning I will have to find a room somewhere for the 15th and move for one night if they don't open more rooms - but I'm afraid that once the announcement for SSW comes out, those rooms will never be available! Drat these changing/unannounced events dates!:badpc:

I just had to put in my two cents on this possible SSW date change.

First, someone posted on the limited number of rooms available for the third weekend, has disney thought about that?? I am sure EVERYONE has reservations for the second weekend and if they are unable to get rooms for the third weekend what are all those fans going to do? Most people probably have not heard about the possible date change and have not tried to change their reservations yet. I know I am currently on a waitlist for some of the days though DVC. I am keeping my second weekend booked just in case.

Also, how many people were planning on going on the Rick Springfield Cruise (which also has a few GH stars attending)??? A few people I know are going to that and that is the third weekend. Of course they will have to go on the cruise because they wont be able to cancel that but they will be able to cancel their disney room reservations.

I think this possible change will make a lot of people very unhappy.
Just my two cents.

Teamstitch - Do you think that SSW is what is holding up them releasing November's park hours?

FWIW - Just got off of the phone with DVC member services and the (very helpful) CM said they were told 'officially' this morning that SSW will be the 15th/16th of November.

WOO HOO, I just got off the phone with DVC and they confirmed that it is the 15th and 16th. I also got my wait list for that time:banana: I am so exicted. My DD13 is going to be on :cloud9: when she hears the news. Thank You TeamStitch. I booked the 15th and 16th after you posted and it worked out great for me.
