Just wanted to give an experience update. I just checked in for our cruise. I was prepared to fight with the website and wait. Instead, I was able to check in through my phone for my husband and I in five minutes. 11:15 PAT, boarding group 5.

Maybe I need to go buy a lottery ticket?

omg, it was a nightmare when I tried to do it in August. I gave up after almost an hour. I was able to get right in at 5am and get a noon PAT.

I'll probably just wait until morning for my April Dream cruise. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Do you know if we have to upload all of the passport/vaccine and whatnot stuff first and then pick PAT or can we just pick PAT, save to secure the time, and then go back to upload the documents?

There is an order in which you can do things. There is a different thread for online checkin that will give a lot more details but picking a PAT is like the last thing you do. Dcl doesn’t make that open until you do the other things first.

Here is the other thread

My checkins for Dec 2021 and for Sept 2022 were nightmares. I was prepared for another sleepless night for my November 2022 checkin, and it was a breeze. I think that DCL upgraded the servers or something.... not as easy and seamless as choosing a PAT at regular castaway level tiered check in.... I also think it finally remembered some addresses and other info that I used to have to re-enter a million times.

I had an awful time. Had everything ready to go. It was the night of hurricane Ian here in Florida. Logged in at midnight. Was able to put my info in quickly. Then started my husband...the blue circle just kept spinning and spinning. After about an hour and a half of frustration went to bed. Because it was storming hardly slept and got up around 3am. Tried again. Took another 30-45 minutes. Finally got 11:45am PAT boarding group 9. Been checking several times a day since then but nothing earlier has appeared. We sail on 10/29 Fantasy. We are platinum and feel no one should have to go through such aggravation doesn't matter what level you are...rediculous there isn't a better way!

I was prepared for aggravation but it went pretty smoothly for us earlier this week. Only a few seconds here and there of spinning blue wheel.

We are on the same sailing had the same situation also. We live in Florida, the night of the hurricane and had the same issues. We did get group 4 11:15 PAT.

I've said this in another thread. I think DCL should be able to save our uploaded documents for so long in our profile so you don't have to upload it every time. Just like safe passage does.

I know that part of the issue of the slow website is that everyone is trying to get on at the same time but I also wonder if the slowness of the web site is more a factor of how new the computer being used is and/or the personal internet connection speed as apposed to anything Disney does on their end or combination of all factors.

Similar, had an awful time as well, I logged on at half past midnight... just recently. So I don't think they upgraded their servers, some nights are much busier than others, I think.

I was just thinking about the same thing. Is it worse on certain nights because there are more people logging in? We cruise on the dream in Miami and I just checked and 3 other ships (wish, magic and wonder) all have cruises that depart on the exact same date so we’ll all be logging in on the same night 30 days before.

Same here. I was expecting to have a hard time getting everything completed but I just completed the checkin process in about 10 minutes and received the same PAT time of 11:15, boarding group 5. It would not have happened this way without the help from everyone here on the Disboards. Thank you so much!

My guess is that they are doing website maintenace at that time too and it just jambs everything up. They should have the capacity in their system so that everyone from one cruise can check in at the time and scheduled maintenance should start later, more like 1:30-2 am to allow everyone time to get checked in. Or move check in start time to 7am ET. Or give platinum guests back their perk of automatically being in BG1.

There's so many things they could do to alleviate the midnight rush.
