Just wondering if anyone has ever taken Super Shuttle from the Orange County Airport to the hotel and back. Do you have to wait a while for them to fill up the van and make several stops? We are trying to decide between Super Shuttle and a taxi.

Thanks for your help (just 35 more days to go!!).

Depends on how many people in your party. We've taken it from the Orange county airport and it was only about a 20 minute ride. The shuttle we had only held about 8-9 people so it was just us and another party. Also remember, most that fly into Orange County are headed for DLR so it isn't a problem filling up a shuttle, and most of the hotels are in close proximity for dropping off. From LAX though, especially in the daytime, you get lots of individual business persons that need rides to their homes, which if you want a tour of greater Los Angeles is fine, but tends to take lots more time to get you clear to Anaheim.

I believe a taxi is about $35.00 (someone else said, we've never done a taxi) so if you have 3-4 persons, the taxi might be more economical. Don't be scared of the shuttle though. I would not suggest the airport bus though.

Super Shuttle has worked ok for us when flying into Orange County. We have 4 in our family and the most they can carry will be an extra 2 or 3 people max with all our luggage and theirs. Never had a problem but we are trying Airport Bus this time to see the difference.

On our trip to DCA we took Super Shuttle from Orange County airport and everyone on the shuttle was going to GC so we went straight there...got there in about 20 minutes max (they had several shuttles waiting at the airport and loaded them according to location). But coming back to the airport we decided to take the airport bus and it was terrible. We stopped and sat at several other hotels, waiting for passengers that never showed. It took us 90 minutes to get to the airport and we thought we were going to miss our flight. I almost got off at one point to get a cab, I was getting so worried. Next time I will have Super Shuttle pick us up or take a cab.

One last thing on taking the airport bus rather than the shuttle...

Last time we flew into LAX and took the airport bus, the bus driver told us they changed some "laws" in Anaheim (or around DLR I guess) and the big airport busses aren't allowed to stop at each and every hotel, so they now stop on the street about every block or so at a designated stop. (They were tying up too much traffic, etc.) Then from the designated stop on the curb you have to haul your own bags to your hotel and vice-versa on your return. It was a major hassle when we did it because we tend to overpack and it was about 99 degrees out. The bus may stop directly in front of some hotels or be able to pull into others depending on their location, but I would ask before choosing the bus. (The shuttle on the other hand delivers you to and from the front door of the hotel, so you virtually don't have to deal with your bags that way, and you can stay indoors to wait. It's well worth the extra couple bucks!)

I am going to call and make sure the airport bus will take us to the hotel if not I am changing it for sure. No way and I walking even a block with twins and all my luggage. I overpack too;)

It depends on how many will be in your party. This last trip (Oct 2002) we had shuttle vouchers already but we had to wait awhile till the shuttle arrived, so.....I walked over to the cab section and asked prices to compare to Super Shuttle. I was told by the man doing the cab coordination that the cost to go to a DLR Hotel is around $30.00, one way Super Shuttle is $12.00 so you do the math. If I had 3 or more I would take a cab next time. Even with reservations with Super Shuttle it was NOT waiting there for us when we got in. We ended up waiting around 15-20 minutes before it showed up. Plus we had two other stops before we got to the DL Hotel.

Okay, I think y'all have answered my question, too, since we hadn't decided yet. We'll fork out the extra $5-$10 to get a cab.

Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone has taken the Super Shuttle with young kids. I'm considering adding airport transportation to my package through the Disney Club. According to the CM I need to provide my own car seats for any child under the age of 6 when using Super Shuttle. I'd really rather not travel across the country with car seats. Here in Indiana they are not required for kids over 4 years old.

Our only other experience has been with Mears in Orlando and it has never been an issue. Car seats were never mentioned when travelling by bus or van.
