Hey Everyone...

I have a question about Super Shuttle... I have taken Super Shuttle many times so I pretty much know how it works, but a question popped into my head...

Has anyone ever called to make reservations for a shuttle recommending they are the only ones in the shuttle??? Like if you have a bigger party of 5 can you recommend that only your party goes onto the shuttle and no one else? Or if you can be dropped off first?

This past May when we were there, my family had a party of 5 people. We hopped into the Shuttle and 2 other people hopped on with us. Which was fine. Thing is after we grabbed our luggage and went to find the shuttle we had an hour and 25 minutes (Plenty of time) to get from the airport to our hotel, then over to DCA where we had lunch reservations at the Wine Country Trattoria. We told the driver this as he asked what our plans were for the day. He then decided to drop the other 2 people off first which is fine, this only took 15 minutes extra for both. They were only a few blocks out of the way. Definitely nothing major.. but lets be honest, we all know it only takes 20 minutes to get from the airport to DL by the freeway.

The driver then said "Lets take the scenic route"... We said NO lets get back on the freeway we just got off of, and take the fastest route, we have reservations and plans for the day and just want to get there. But he still ignored us, and took us on an slow extra 50 minute drive of Anaheim through backroads. We missed our reservations and were so furious my dad ended up calling Super Shuttle to complain. (Lets just say he never got a tip). For our next trip we will have a party of 5 again and we dont want this to re-occure.

OMG!!! I would be LIVID!! What was the guy thinking??

Anyway, yes, you can get a dedicated shuttle. If you look on their website you can check out the cost. It might be better to just take a taxi, though. A taxi will run you about $45 with tip, can take your whole party, and is the fastest. No reservation is needed.

Ok, just looked up the exclusive van and it runs $67 each way. There is a coupon code that will knock off $5 each way, but it's still a lot more than taking a taxi.

That's really shocking, mystic. Seriously shocking. Those drivers are on schedules, and the time he took to do that took away nearly an hour's worth of fares for him! Seriously weird and freaky and I'm sure you were a bit scared, too!

Not so scared, more so kinda just frustrated. There were 5 against 1 and all with cell phones. I highly doubted he would have made a dumb move. Specially when we were in highly populated areas. His money and job on the line. I dont know what he was thinking, but it wasnt a fun experience. I will still take Super Shuttle again. I am very please with them, but I think im gonna take the advice and just get the van to ourselves if possible. I will fork out the extra money just to make sure this doesnt happen again.

SuperShuttle is great and I use them often, but with a party of 5 I would go with a taxi. You'll save ~$40 roundtrip over an exclusive SS van. You can just grab one of the taxi vans when you walk out of the airport (they're right in front of the Supershuttle station).

I also wanted to correct something I posted above: a taxi will run approximately $45 PLUS tip, not WITH tip.

My only concern with a taxi is that it wont fit all of our luggage into the trunk

With a party of 5, you'd get a van! The taxi vans are lined up right with the other vans, and they'll wave one over for you when they see the size of your party. No problems with luggage, and the cost is the same as a regular taxi. We did that in Oct. with our party of 5. With fewer than 5, I would go SS, but for a party of 5 or more it's actually cheaper and faster to use a taxi van over an exclusive shuttle.

We also did an exclusive shuttle once, which was very nice, but they don't have it waiting for you when you arrive. We had to wait longer for our exclusive van than if we'd had a shared ride. It wasn't bad--~20 minutes--but you don't have to wait at all for a taxi. The shared ride for our party of 5 costs us $35 on SS with a coupon code so when we don't feel like spending the extra $ on a taxi, we just do the shared ride. I wouldn't pay the $67 (less $5 with coupon) each way for an exclusive van from SS when they can usually only fit 2 more people in the van anyway and very little time (if any) is lost. If I'd had an experience like yours, I would have contacted their management to complain. They should have done more than apologize to you!

OF COURSE! Taxi Vans! Darrrrr! ((Slaps forhead)) Blond moment... Why didnt I think of that LOL! :rotfl:

Ok that is most definitely something to look into then. I might just consider it.
