Super Goofs Team 4 bios/intros

:welcome: Joanne. We are glad you are here! How did we get lucky? I thought you were on another team! Anyway, you are certainly welcome to join us Super Goofs!

Okay, so tomorrow is the big day. Are we ready to rumble team? It's an exciting time on the WISH, and I am so glad I joined up! I think it's just the motivation we all need to keep up with our training.

My next 1/2 is in April, and I would really like to PR. I wanted the same thing last year, but I went out to fast and tanked after turning my ankle. I don't want to repeat that again! If I can't PR, I would at least like to be close!

The family is discussing my race schedule for this year, since we always make it a family 'vacation'. They all want to do something new. We will be returning to the Rock and Roll 1/2 in Virginia Beach, and possibly the Philly Distance Run but we are looking for another one somewhere new. I will update you on the discussion when we come up with an answer!:lmao:

Beth, when is the RNR Virginia. I was thinking of this one as a family vacation this year. I am semi-committed to the MDI Marathon in October though which is going to take up a lot of my summer between softball travel team and just the general happenings!!

I also find that PRs are something I cannot ever think about. I went to WDW after 2 weeks of forced rest after surgery and only having my longest run at 8 miles. I was hoping to be able to W/R it in 2:45 to 3 hours but I went at it running and maintained a pretty steady pace and finished in 2:31:44 which was a total surprise to me.

I am stoked! This is coming at a perfect time for me. Year end is over this weekend and I promised myself to get back to a better program as soon as that happened!

Is anyone here going to DL to do the 1/2 and get the special medal this year? That seems like fun to me :) They are still open for people living outside of the DL area.

Kimickey--It is so nice to "see" you again!!

I am sooo excited to get started tomorrow, but I don't know if I will have anything to report tomorrow. Fridays are a crazy day for us, but I will try to get something in so we have a good start!

Yesterday I did an hour of Power Pump class and then 4.5 miles on the bike.

I REALLY want to, but unless the money fairy comes to visit us, I don't see anyway for us to go. Someone has to get that medal so I can at least see it!

I would have but didn't finish the 1/2 (but made my goal so all is good)!

Maybe they will do it again next year when I know I will finish!

Friday is a rest day for me so don't think I am forgetting to post. I have to go to an awards ceremony for dd11 (:goodvibes ) and then to bible study. However, I am planning to run 8 -10 on saturday with my buddies and sometimes they talk me into even longer runs...

Cecilia: We will only forgive you if you crank out the miles on Saturday...lol. Heck, you are the closest thing to a triathlete we have...being that you are married to one, lol.

Okay, I have been giving this some thought and since we have the great spreadsheet to track the weekly totals and keep the running totals for us, really, all we should have to do is post our daily or weekly miles/hours (whichever way you decide to do it), right? Someone tell me I am not crazy. :rotfl:

If this is the case, then I will start the thread and you can all just post your hours/miles and I will keep track of them (as long as Stacey promises to do it on her end too for double check) and post them on the spreadsheet for everyone. I think that sounds the easiest for all of us combined....yes....no????

I think that sounds great! If you start a thread for us, we can just put our daily/weekly totals in for you and the spread sheet will do the rest!!
 
Lisa, That sounds good. We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone (mostly you though). VA Beach 1/2 marathon is Sunday before Labor Day. My kids love that one and make me promise to do it again next year! Kind of the perfect ending to summer vacation for them. Hotels fill up quickly though.....and can be expensive. This will be my third year there.

I'll do my best to double check on the miles. I always use a calculator whenever I added miles to the miles thread, I can't add (and of course I homeschool!:))

Hello, Super Goofs! Just thought I'd pop in & say good luck & happy, healthy training with the challenge. :thumbsup2

Say...you know what just came to me? You could really take a lot of pressure off yourselves, and make Lisa's job easier, if you just didn't log any of your miles/hours. You know, streamline the process, no messing with pesky spreadsheets or worries about miscalcuations.

Hey, I'm not saying you shouldn't DO the miles/hours, just don't stress about keeping track. Because, you know, it doesn't matter how much you do--Team Ohana's taking this thing! :cool2:
 
Hey everybody!! Glad we are finally going to start this thing tomorrow!! All this talk and not being able to post our miles is not good!!! I will be posting my workout tomorrow afternoon when I get home!!

I was wondering.....I play hockey at least once a week, and for me it is XT as I don't usually run otherwise on nights when I have a game, so does that mean I can include it in the hours total for the week???

Good Luck to everyone tomorrow and this weekend, let's start this thing off right!!!

No Way!! You were right there ahead of me!! You must have passed me at some point on the course, as I started at the front of the corrals right behind the elite runners. So, I got passed by A LOT of people, hence the reason I may have missed you!!
 
Laurie: I have asked your question about playing hockey to the Great Panda. I should get a response today and I will let you know. It was a great question that I am sure no one thought of before. And BTW you and Cecilia are my idols. I have not run my marathon yet but I would LOVE to be in the same range as both of you!! :worship:

I have started the team challenge thread. I hope everyone gets out and has something to add today. Just remember that no matter how far or how long, your participation matters. We are a team and we all have to work together in order to win. Never feel intimidated, only inspired. :goodvibes
 
I agree that there used to be a kinder, friendlier Dis but this competition has apparently turned into a free for all smack down where people have forgotten that there are those who NEED encouragement and NEED to feel that they are doing the right thing and NEED to feel good about themselves not have someone telling them that they are worthless losers.

Rest assured team, I love you all and will be here to encourage you the whole way. We need to remember that strength comes from within and that those around us can only provide a place to lean. We have to stand on our own. We are all strong, we are all athletes we are all special and wonderful people who will persevere and be the surprise hole-shot no one is expecting. I have faith in all of you. Take the negativity and turn it into positive motivation inside you.

I had that experience in the Half, I started way up front. My coach met me at mile 11 and I told him I had been passed by everyone in the race and he laughed and said "no honey - you are in still very much in the front." So I know what you mean about getting passed! At the full, I was too busy playing to notice people passing me.

And BTW you and Cecilia are my idols. I have not run my marathon yet but I would LOVE to be in the same range as both of you!! :worship:
I will run a full with you when ever you are ready! We can go at your pace and I will pull you along. It will be fun! Just say the word!
