Super Goofs sliding into December

Hey Goofs. Week two into my ING training and it is raining. Seems like the norm in Atlanta these days... So, I'm being naughty (Don't tell Santa!) and skipping my run today. Gonna go get a pedicure instead for our WDW trip. ;)

So, DH asked me a question the other day and I'm not sure which to choose. He said he'd run the ING full and run with me until the split (I think around mile seven.), but then I'd be waiting around for him after I finish the half. Or he would run the half, but without me and wait for me at the end. Given I've become a chubby slug and have no motivation I could probably use his help, but then do I want to wait around two hours after I finish downtown by myself? It has been terribly cold and windy last two years at the ING. I just can't decide! We need to send in our forms soon. (He got a free entry!) Any opinions?

OK, I guess everyone is busy. I hope all of you are doing well. Go Goofs! :grouphug:

Shan I've also run into a blip today for training....laundry! I think every piece of athletic gear I owni s dirty. With painting and carpet work this week, just forgot to do it. Enjoy your pedicure.
As for the race, I would opt for both doing the half and have him wait for you. But that's because I run on my own anyway! On the other hand, if you want the company and DH runs the marathon, maybe you could find some nice coffee house near the finish and bring a good book and hang out for a while til he finishes?

Goofs,

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. I am in a funk since my 20 mile run went extremely poorly and I injured both IT bands. Don't even want to talk about it, but still wanted to pop in and wish the (remaining!) Goofs well.

Happy New Year,

Maura

Maura, here is a big
Wishing you lots of pixie dust for a speedy full recovery. Perhaps a sports massage would make a nice Christmas gift for you?

I think Santa is going to have to bring me some new shoes before the marathon. I switched from Brooks to Mizuno early last month and did OK with them until my 20-miler. Apparently, the Mizunos rub against the metatarsals of my big toes and the long distances make it pretty darn painful. I'm a little nervous about getting new shoes so close to the big day -- and I've never run more than 17 miles in the Brooks -- so it's really uncharted territory. Just what I needed: another thing to worry about.

Shan, tough call on the ING situation. If DH does the full, will he be able to run at your pace for those first 7 miles or will it be uncomfortable for either/both of you? DH and I have tried to run together, but it never works for us, even though it sounds lovely in theory. I do like Maura's idea of bringing a book and finding a coffee shop while you wait for him, though. I can just picture you sipping coffee, wearing your mylar, sporting your bling, and earning the respect of everyone around you!

Hey there Super Goofs!

I know, I know...I haven't been around much lately...been super busy. My DH and I closed on our first house in November and it has been crazy ever since. And as you can imagine my training has SUFFERED! I am hoping I make it through the Goofy in a few weeks. At this point, my goal is just to finish (and at this point, that may be hard) I am going to try to get in a 15-16 miler LR this weekend and see how that goes. I have been able to get some shorter runs in during the week, but our weekends have been packed and my LR's have suffered.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well...to those with some nagging injuries, get well soon!

I hope everyone enjoys the holidays!! Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks at WDW!!

Sorry for being MIA for so long. I forgot my password and was unable to figure out how to get logged back it (its the hair color)

I am getting so excited for marathon weekend! I really have to be out of my mind. I have run 2 miles since October (8 minute miles no less) I have a nagging quad injury that has prevented me from running. I have done the time in the gym with spin class every day and fitness yoga, personal trainer, and pilates. I am not out of shape- just not running.

I am doing the Goofy???? Worse comes to worse- I walk and DNF. The race fee is paid for- have to try.

Did anyone watch the Ironman show last Saturday. The rest of the gang and I were totally focused on it. It is well worth catching if you missed it. I know there is a tri in my future... I hate bathing suits!

I did buy myself some clipless pedal for my bike and new shoes....perhaps!

Who exactly from our team will be there January. I have lost track.
Can we get some type of list together?

Groovy Girls- Goofy or bust!

Sigh, I will only be there in spirit...BUT, since I found a job, 2011 looks promising!

Hi Goofs,

Haven't posted in a while but wanted to stop by and see how everyone is doing and wish each of you a very Merry Christmas. Sorry to hear about some of the injuries and hope everyone heals quickly especially those coming down for marathon weekend. Am I ready? No way, been lazy for the last couple of months but am kicking it into high gear for the final push. I will cross the start line and about 3hrs 15 mins later I will cross the finish line!! I will be at the expo on Thursday and planning on the Wish meet on Friday. Anyone else?

I have also decided that in 2010 I am going for the triple threat...the January 1/2, the Princess 1/2 and the Wine and Dine 1/2. I have lost my mind...

Suzanne, I'm jealous!

Angie, I just read that you are not coming down next month...I am so sad!! Hanging out with you before the 1/2 this past year and our endless conversations kept my mind off of what was about to happen even though I was pretty clueless. I will be thinking of you race morning wondering if I was delirious when I signed up again.

Groovygirls-I am right there with you...it is Goofy or bust! We can do it! I also watched the Ironman coverage last weekend and it always motivates me....those people are AMAZING!!!!

Suzanne--Glad to hear you will be at the WISH meet..I will be there..we are staying at Pop again. Good Luck with the triple threat...I wish I was closer to WDW so I could do all those races!! See you in a few weeks!

Angie--sorry to hear you won't be at WDW for marathon weekend. Glad to hear you got a job and are looking forward to 2011!!

To everyone else...Have a very Merry Christmas!! This one is special for me because it is my first being married and having our own home!!!

The countdown is on...see everyone in a few weeks!! CAN'T WAIT!!

Hey gang, I'm just dropping in to WISH you all a very Goofy Christmas!

I'll be there for Marathon weekend too. I'm not sure I'll be able to make the meet as we are with friends and family. I would love the opportunity to meet some of you though. I will be wearing my green WISH name badge every day so hopefully a WISHer spots me and introduces him/herself.

Hi guys- we are on page two!

I am working like a crazy person- hours for me to pick up while people are on vacation. Today was my last day at my home base. I am so sad but I know another opportunity will come up soon.

Hope Santa was good to everyone. I got new clipless pedals for my bike and new shoes to go with them. (okay I bought them for me and put them under the tree) I gave my old shoes to a friend starting spin class and she was most grateful.

I still did not get the pony I have been asking for for over 40 years! Perhaps next year.

Hope everyone is getting excited for not next weekend but the weekend after!

Seven more days until I leave for the WORLD!
Who else is getting excited?!

ASM- I have a job interview Tuesday. One is a FT NP and the other is a PT RN (weekends which is the hours I want) How do people juggle working FT and kids? I am very anxious- never had someone else so involved with them. I like taking them skiing and to gymnastics. I think I know what my decision will be. MY DH wants me to go back FT. He has been a house husband this week while I worked. I have been asking him 3 days to fold the laundry....I finally got up early and did it. Not sure how the running of the household will go if I am not home much during the day.

Joanne Good luck with your interviews. I hope you come down to FL with a big smile on your face because you got the job that you want. Full time with kids requires two people to make it work. Thank goodness my DH and I were flexible enough to make it work--splitting the child care and household chores, etc.

Steve You can always bring the family to the Pop meet! But if you don't make it there, then look for us in the pre-race area....last year we were near a "W" sign/tent (they put them up for the post-race family reunion)

Happy New Year all!

Maura

Happy New Year Goofs!

We are doing all of our last-minute packing this weekend and then heading out Monday for our long drive. We have one stop to make and then will fly to WDW on Tuesday.

Everyone going have safe travels! I might be able to sneak away to the Pop meet (would be without family) but I will definitely be hanging around the "W" tent Marathon day. I really hope one of these gives me the opportunity to meet some of you in person.

AFM, a storm rolled in last night and poured well into the morning so I decided to cancel a resolution run race this morning. I didn't want to risk getting sick so close to the trip. I'll see if one of our gym locations is open today so I can get a few miles in on the TM.

I wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2010!

-steve

Hi Goofs! I just returned from a long vacation to include our first Disney cruise...it was great! I hope to see some of you next week...I'll be attempting my first full. I'll be wearing my TnT shirt with my WISH hat on race day. I'm a little shy when it comes to meeting people from the DIS, so if you recognize me please be sure to come over and say hi.

Happy New Year to all!

Hi All-
I did a really fun 5K today- the hangover classic! I opted not to jump into Hampton Beach after but several people did- I got cold looking at them!

Not much longer!

Hey there Super Goofs!! I can't believe that this time next week we will be at WDW!!! I can't wait!! Are we going to try to get another Super Goofs picture for those that are at the Pop meet on Friday? I was just scrapbooking a page about last year's meet and there was my Super Goofs pic!! Need a new one for this year.

I hope everyone had a great New Year! Looking forward to seeing everyone next week! I am not sure how much I will be on this week, so to everyone heading to the World...safe travels!
