Super Goofs March Challenge

I would like to thank the most awesome Panda for stopping in and being soooooo nice. So, what's wrong anyway??????? Dave, is that really you or is someone using your name????? :lmao:

I would like to commend each and every contributor to this team. We have come leaps and bounds from last month and are well on our way to taking over the lead in this challenge.

Last weeks totals: 196.81 miles/61.67 hours
This weeks totals: 333.79 miles/87.78 hours

Each and every one of you has been working hard. You may not feel it but the total shows it. Everyones contribution went into those numbers. We are becoming quite a force to be reckoned with. Our continued hard work and spring FINALLY arriving (this with 4" of fresh snow on the ground here) will show the other teams that we are serious....not just Goofy!!!!!! :rotfl:

Today's run was outside, on part of the rail trail near me. It was cool, but nice. I ran through a park that just added some exercise stations (like a par course) so I added them into my run. I actually enjoyed it. It broke up my run, but I got a nice upper body work out at the same time.

Time: 1 hour 30 min
Miles: 5

Today was my friend's funeral. I am glad that I got my work out in. It sort of made me feel better, being by myself for awhile, and having the time to sort things out.

Hello,

As far as today goes, I could not do the 20 minute stretch that is called for in the c25k, w5w3. I got to 12 minutes of jogging (after the 5 minute warm up) and then had to walk for a minute, ran again for 3 minutes, walked for one and then ran for another 3 minutes. I was disappointed in myself. I can pick myself up and keep at it. I am planning on doing over week #5.

I will not give up.

Today 32 minutes cardio and 28 minutes exercise.

Miles today 2.2.

lynnielou - don't be too hard on yourself. You'll have some good days and not so good days. Sounds like you are doing fine, though. I still can't run very much. I mainly walk with a little running mixed in there. The key is to just put one foot in front of the other whether walking or running. You'll get there!

I did my 4 mile W/R stint today. I'm in training for a half-marathon so this is the last of my short LRs for a while. Next week, 8 miles.

Today (Saturday):

4.5 miles / 1 hour

Nukeman:

1 mile / 1 hour

Hey Super Goofs!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Beautiful weather here - High 50's. Decided to dust off my bike and hit the trails. Oooooh, I'm gonna be sore tomorrow. I need a more padded seat (for the bike, that is).

Today (Sunday):

11 miles / 1 hour

Nukeman:

11 miles/ 1 hour

Hope everyone had (is having) a great weekend. We took our kids to see "Horton Hears a Who" this afternoon...loved it!

Way to go getting out there. Nice time DB, you get double miles for your race.

Today was my longest run before the half, 10 miles. DH assured me it was "at least" 10 miles to DD13 gymnastics meet from home. Mapmyrun said 9.6 and Garmin gave me 9.76. It was very hilly and snowing the whole way. Good motivation obviously as I finished in 1:44:58 which is 10:46 average. My average for the half in January was 11:36 so a nice shave off the time!! It was not as bad as I had myself convinced and I did walk up 1.5 hills and a short time to fuel and water at mile 5. Can't eat and run, too many things at once to think about. It was all in all one for the win column!!

Hey there best team ever! :thumbsup2

Wednesday, March 12 - Nothing :( I was very sick that day
Thursday, March 13 - Took it easy, did about 1 hour of stretching/ballet/yoga
Friday March 14 - 3 miles, 44:25  My best time yet!

I was lazy on Saturday and today because my parents were in town, but I'll be back to running tomorrow.

No no no no no, What you say is " I took rest days on Saturday..."

I hope you are feeling better!

Sunday

5 miles on the bike (ugh)
20 minutes strength training
4 laps in the pool

total of 55 minutes.
my new gym is Awesome.

Cecilia, if you know how many yard you did swimming, this counts too and we can convert the yards to miles if you want. You do not have to. I have to say that you all have inspired me to look into a sprint tri. I need to swim more though. Maybe next year it will work for me. I found one where there is a 400 yard swim, 14 mile bike and 5K run. Manageable distances for certain. I also have to do something about a road bike, I only have an off-road as I ride on trails and dirt roads mostly.

I'd love to be able to do a tri. I'd probably need help in the swimming portion as it's been ages since I did any serious swimming. A good friend of mine is going to compete in a triathalon in Hawaii next month. I think she said it was an olympic tri which is a step up from the sprint? Anyway, I can't think of a better place to do it. :teeth:

DB - congrats on completing your first 5k! :woohoo: What did you think about it?

I did my exercising early today. My very basic gym (almost a little too basic :( ) is now offering some upper and lower body conditioning. Today was lower-body and man am I out of shape! Ugh! I'm hoping these classes will help me in the stretching department as I don't feel I do enough. Yoga will be added in April. I can't wait.

So, for today (Monday):

2.5 miles / 1.25 hours (30 min TM, 45 min lower-body conditioning)

Only 15.83 miles over the weekend. Very disappointing, but I just wasn't feeling it, so I didn't get out there. This morning I am off to a bad start as well. it is a little after 1:30 here and I have yet to walk at all. I usually do a little over a mile with the dog before work and 2.7 miles over lunch, but I did neither today. My weigh-in this morning was not where I wanted it to be and it just put me in a bad mood. I will be doing my C25K after work, so at least that is something. Maybe it will inspire me to get in a few more miles with the dog after.

Hi guys...just bopping around catching up on threads and I saw Lisa's post from 3/15. What an amazing job you guys are doing! I saw the big number increase...you all should be so proud! :goodvibes

Lisa...that sprint tri sounds like a great event to train for. I like the swim distance...the one I'm training for is a little longer and that's my weakness for sure :(. I'm still on the fence...haven't signed up yet b/c i'm a little scared!:scared:

Saturday I was able to do 35 minutes of strength trainig. I am hoping to get in some good miles this week. ºoº

Good afternoon everyone!! I made it out today after work. Some days are definitely longer than others. I had our Cancer Center all day complete with operative notes. Puts you in a different frame of mind for sure. I wanted to be outside to clear my head but it is cold and very windy here today and not a good day to be on a bike. So, I went to the gym and rode the bike there. Not very exciting but I did 7.67 miles in :45 which is good for me. On the down side, last week, I went through the toe of a pair of my Injinji socks and this week I have gone through the toe of my NB performance socks. WTH!!!

AmyBeth: Thanks for stopping in. I agree the swim distance is a little less daunting on this one. I found another closer to me that is 575 meters swim, 15.5 bike and 5K run but that extra 100 meters is a little :scared1: for me. I can keep myself afloat but as for swimming for time, not so much. I am also not a great biker. I have to get mine services and check on some different tires for the road. Too much vibration and years of typing make my hands fall asleep in a big fat hurry!!:sad2:

Wow! 8miles in 45 seconds--that would be good for anyone! ;)

Well, I did 60 minutes of Aqua Aerobics yesterday and 50 minutes today of stretch/strengthen. Have had two bad days at work all involving the same person and I am feeling rather crummy. I took a walk during the middle of the day just to empty my brain (we have a great underground basement/tunnel complex)--it didn't really help. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

I've already started to think about my next challenge after Minnie (and before my "what were you thinking" half marathon). A tri might be kinda fun. My husband has done a couple, so he could give me some pointers. I have started swimming one day for XT (and just reserved Total Immersion-Freestyle from the library) I don't fear biking. Maybe I'll give it a whirl!

DB Congrats on your first race! I'm looking forward to mine--if I get ambitious it might come sooner than Minnie.

Raenstoirm Hope your day improves--sometimes we just don't "feel it", do we.

Maura

For all those thinking about doing a tri...go for it. As I said in an earlier post, I completed my first one last year and it was a blast! Do it for the fun of it and don't worry about the time. Get through the swim with whatever stroke you feel comfortable with. I think I used the breast stroke for over half of my swim...definitely not the fastest stroke, but I finished!
