Super Goofs March Challenge

Maura, have a great trip. My inlaws did that last year and had an AWESOME time. My brother lives outside of Salt Lake so I have an excuse to do this. Give us a full report and log those walking miles!!! :thumbsup2

Hi all.

I may not have mentioned it here, but my Dad is very sick. He has cancer for the fourth time. I am trying to be up beat and positve. However, I think it has really zapped my energy. Everything feels uphill right now.

4 miles today in 39:11. It was a very tough 4 miles though. Wasn't I just telling you that that still happens to me?

Tomorrow is my last long run before ING. I hope I can make it because if I feel like I did today, its going to be miserable.

Take care all!
Cecilia

Cecilia:  My dad has been gone 6 years now. I can tell you that I know he was running with me in the half and will continue to be with me in all my races. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow. Try using your running as a release.

I am sad to say that it looks like my DH Steve is going to have to leave our group. We are finding out some things he has to do for work this summer and he will be gone for a few weeks and going on a Mission Trip and finding real time to exercise will be difficult.

I however will be home all summer and will be exercising for sure!!

Here are my numbers so far this week

Monday--4.1 mile run 47:37
Tuesday--6.74 bike ride 27:18
Wednesday--55 mins Power Pump

I will update more for Tomorrow since Braden is on Spring Break so I will not be at his school!

Cecilia-
I am so sorry about your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Nothing like a loved one's immortality/mortality to kick us in the butt.

Cecilia, I am so sorry:hug:
Although I have not had to contend with cancer, my father was very ill a few years ago and his odds to not look good (complications due to obesity). He has now had gastric bypass and is doing great. During that time though, I gave up all fitness and healthy eating and gained quite a bit of weight. I even dropped out of graduate school because of the stress of his condition. You are already doing better than me by sticking with your program through the hard times.

As for your father, he has beat this three times. He can do it again.

3/18
2.5 miles/34 mins

3/19
1 mile/17 mins
35 mins of shoveling heavy wet slushy snow

I did register as a walker for Great Bay, so I could get the head start...even though I'm used to being DLF (and I'm ok with that)

I'm so bummed. My brand new garmin 305 did not save two workouts including today's. Fortunately I was using my ipod/nike plus. Anyone else have troubles with their garmin? It seems to work fine on the work out- it just does not seem to save all of them.
Ran 5 miles in 1 hour then 45 minute spin class.

I am going to change as a walker for great bay because the week before the big race I am going to adult riding camp in South Carolina! My DH surprised me with this. I have never been away from my girls- a whole week. I am very nervous and very excited to go! Eight hours of riding every day is not going to give me much time and/or energy for running! I will plan on going as fast as I can to get to the finish line!

Also- for all our NH runners- Nashua Soup kitchen has their annual fun run April 14. I am planning on the 10K- hope to see some of you there...Chad and Kristi....

I am going to sign up for all of these.

Hi everyone,

Cruella de mom Hi all.

So sorry to hear about this. Take care and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

jmasgat Happy first day of spring, everybody! Although the weather guy said we are getting 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow.

I've had to modify my workouts this week. So Tuesday was 3 miles, 29 minutes, Wednesday 3 miles 28:30 minutes.

We are going on vacation to Utah tomorrow (Zion National Park), so I'm moving my long run up to Friday before we go. I figure I'll get in lots of cross training next week, but might miss a run.

7 miles--here I come (and this time I am driving the course in advance to make sure it is 7 miles)
Where in Michigan are you? I am in Port Huron. Looks like this snow is going to be in the south part of the state. I still have snowbanks at my driveway edge! I am so ready for them to be gone.

45 minutes for me today. 10 minutes warm up on the bike for 2 miles. The rest of the time was spent with exercising.

Have a blessed Good Friday everyone!.

Good morning Super Goofs. Here to remind you this is your last chance workout. Make it good everyone!! :thumbsup2

Cecilia:  again today because I know you need it still.

Christy: Steve is welcome back anytime he wants and anytime he wants to post miles/hours he can do so. Sometimes LTO but we know he loves us and will be back soon......:rolleyes1

All Great Bayers: Did you get the email that Team Hoyt is going to be in the race!!! How exciting and inspirational!!! :goodvibes

Okay, so everyone is signing up as walkers now (except maybe Chad and I). I guess I will run like the wind and try to find everyone. It took me until Contemporary Hill to catch Dave and Erica during the WDW half. That was about mile 5ish so it will probably be about 6 or 7 before I catch up with everyone.

So, Angie, here is your challenge....you have to make it as far as you can before I catch you. The tag fairy is loose at Great Bay!!! Seriously, lets all just have fun and make it across the finish line and go have a beer afterward. :dance3: This is certainly not about a PR for me, just having fun with my girls....oh yeah, and Chad too.

I have a confession to make, this being last chance workout day...I blew my run off yesterday. I was banned to the basement as it was STILL snowing. No accumulation just enough to tick me off and keep the roads un-runable (oooh a new word). So I went to the basement and I got on the treadmill and after 1.85 miles in a whopping 25:42 (no one take offense but this is slow for me) I decided I was torturing myself and got off. I came upstairs and did 30 minutes of yoga and felt far more happy and centered. Today is my last chance and I am going to get my 40 minute run in. The wind is cranking today so it should be pretty fast. Cold motivates!!!!! :lmao:

Oooo Can we place bets on when Lisa catches Angie? I wish I could be there! I think it would be fun to know my friends were walking up in front of me and if I ran fast enough I could catch up to them. It would definately be motivating for me. And if Angie run/walks fast enough, then Lisa will PR just trying to catch her. (whether she wants to or not) Do they have runner tracking? I want to track you guys!

The vet gave my dog her shots yesterday and accidently gave her one she has had a bad reaction to in the past. Poor thing has been up all night in pain. Not the way to spend the night before a long run. oh boy.

cecilia

Cecilia: :wizard: for your puppy. What a week you are having.

I never gave the chase a second thought. It is going to be kind of fun and funny too. I'll bet Angie moves faster just to keep me from catching her! No blister stops though. :wizard: No blisters. :wizard: Maybe if you just think about me lurking up behind you...you will be done before you know it. I have to check on the tracking. That would be fun. You can still sign up you know........:rolleyes1

HI Everybody! I figured I should check in here and let you know what has been going on the last few weeks.

Well, I hurt my knee playing hockey about 3 weeks ago. During warm-ups, one of the guys on my team wasn't paying attention and he shot the puck pretty hard and it hit the back of my knee (I am the goalie)...the one place on my body where there is NO PADDING!!! Needless to say, at the time, I thought I was DONE...all I thought was No more running! I could barely walk for about 3-4 days, was hobbling around on crutches....the good news is that there was NO real damage...it was just a REALLY BAD BRUISE!!!! The back of my knee turned all sorts of pretty colors....lol! Anyhow, the orthopedic told me NO running for a few weeks, I was able to do the stationary bike a couple of times of week, but only really easy...nothing too intense though.

Well, I went back to the doctor and got cleared to run this week, so I will be back at it.

I will not be doing my marathon on May 4th, there is no way I will be ready for that with this knee injury.....I have changed my registration to the Long Branch half marathon that same day, I have 6 weeks to get ready, but we will see how it goes, if I am not ready, I am NOT going to do it. I am going to play it by ear and see how it goes.

Sorry, I haven't checked in for awhile, this has been pretty tough on me....I am so active and to not be able to do anything for several weeks was REALLY HARD!!

I am going out running today, my knee actually feels really good this week, so I will post later on tonight my two workouts for the week.

10 miles in 1:41:34

Ugh. It was as hard as I predicted it to be, actually worse because I got so little sleep last night.

My scottie is perking up. Dh took her into the Vet so they could see how miserable she was and the vet gave her some pain meds. They predict she will be fine by tomorrow.

I wish someone would give me some pain meds......sleeping the day away sounds heavenly right now.

5.15 for me yesterday. I have been skipping my lunch break walk, so my numbers have been pretty low this week. It is 12:30 here, maybe I should go now! Instead I am :surfweb:

Oh and I did 30 minutes of jump roping last night.

Joanne - I am kind of scared off from local small races. They seem like they are for real hardcore runners. We did the Santa Fund race in 2006 and even though it was my fastest pace, I finished near last and felt kinda like a loser. I don't know if the local things are for mostly-walkers like me. I know the hospital race is walker-friendly though.

I'll have to ask Chad about Applefest. I know I can't meet the 3 hour deadline for sure. I can always go and cheer though! It is my goal to one day break a 3 hour half. I came close at Great Bay and had a 3:03 last year.

There is another race in Mine Falls in August. I want to say the title is something about a moose....I wanted to do that one in the past, but it didn't work out.

lynnielou I'm down in Beverly Hills

hockeygirl Sorry to hear about your injury. Glad to hear it was only a bruise--but I hear you about the colors that bruises turn. I bruise pretty easily, and when our dog gets overly frisky he can make me bruise to the point where I look like I've been in a fight!

Cecilia Kudos for hanging in there on the tough run. Hope your dog is back to normal soon.

I did my long run today before heading out tonight. 7 miles of 10min run/2 min walk. I didn't feel particulary stellar--except I always perk up at the end (just trying to get home!) Anyway, my time surprised me: 68:25. So unless I was walking particularly speedy (which I wasn't), then I was running faster than I thought. I don't have built-in pace control, which sometimes bothers me, but I'm trying not to think about it.

Anyway, Happy Easter/Spring to everyone. Probably won't be posting til next Thursday, although my DH is bringing the laptop with us.

Maura

Kristi: You can beat the 3 hour mark. I know you can, you just have to believe it.

Maura: Have a great trip.

Carla: Anyone who can jump rope for 30 minutes deserves a special prize. I can't do it more than 5.

Today, the wind is blowing a gale and I had to go to the gym to get my 40 minutes in. I knew I could not do it here but there I stood a chance. I am so sick of being inside!!! I need fresh air!!! Anyway, I was on the TM for 40 minutes and made it 3.76 miles for a 10:42 mpm pace. Not bad but it would have been better outside. Tomorrow is 8 miles and I really don't care what the weather is like. My SIL is exactly 4 miles from me so there and back, no matter what.

So, my DS6 comes home last night with this gem: Today is the first day of spring and the 9000th day of winter so it isn't really spring but no longer winter...mom, it's sprinter. Happy spring everyone!!! :lmao:
