Super Goofs March Challenge

Good morning by Goofy ones!! Help me out in a big :welcome: to DirtyBunny. I hope he stops by again and gives us a quick bio so we can bring him closer into our circle. :grouphug: Great job so far this week everyone!!

I need to clarify, I am not a speed freak, I just would like to be a little faster. I was at a 9:30 for awhile but since adding distance, I seem to find it hard to break pace when I run shorter distances. Does that sound funny? For LR I try to maintain a 11 to 11:30 mpm (except on the TM :crazy2: where this just does not work for me) and I always start out at this pace. Then about a half mile in I realize that I want to speed up some but then I don't feel comfortable as I have a hard time seeing that this is a short run not a long one. Wow, maybe my DD is right, I am random. :sad2: Anyway, I just want to be under 11 mpm someday when I grow up, not an elite runner, they scare me when they come back in the opposite direction and I am not even half way!!!!! :scared:

Joanne, when you ride your bike, do you have anyway to track your miles, like mapmyrun or something? I am sure you are covering a lot of distance and those miles sure would help. If you can't, no big, just thought I would ask as the captain of this vessel!!!! :boat:

I have 50 minutes today and the sun is out. Problem is we got soooooo much ice, I don't know if I am going to be able to get outside. Here's hoping that 40 degrees and sun dries up all the mess from yesterday!! Have a good one all....

Good Morning everyone and welcome DB.
Just to clarify- when i write about riding I am riding a horse! No real way to keep track of miles. The only biking I do is spin class.
Have a great day everyone. Looks like a nice one.

Sorry Joanne, my bad. I miss my horse a lot sometimes. Wish I still had the time and energy for it but DD sports has taken over all of our lives. Someday.......

Joanne, you make me smile. I had a beautiful little Arab queen that rode by seat (DH hated her because he could never make her go). I miss her greatly. My cousin teaches lyrical dressage in Portland and a cousin in TX just had her horse crowned Jr National champ in western. Heavy sigh. Miss the horsey smell still......:sad1:

Quick FYI for the NH/New England people, the Beach to Beacon 10K in southern Maine registration opens on Saturday 3/15. The race fills in a matter of hours so be on at 9 a.m. if anyone wants to do this one with me in August, anyone, anyone......:listen:

Beautiful day today 4.92 miles in 59.41 minutes. Still slow but I'm out there!
I would love to do the race in Maine but we usually go to Vermont at some point. Do you know the date?
Thanks!
Joanne

Joanne, it is August 2 at 8 a.m. The website is beach2beacon.org if you want to check it out. SilverSteve got me interested in this race and, after he told me it sold out in a matter of hours, I just HAD to do it. Besides, it is a 10K, ONLY (:lmao: ) 6.2 miles!!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

Ok put me in for 5.3 miles and 50:27.

Also add 45 minutes of strength and stretching from yesterday. The stretching part was sheer torture for me but I knew I needed it.

Welcome Dirty Bunny! I once hailed from Tennessee but I have no idea where Loudon is. I went to high school in Chattanooga though. The competitive part of me is hoping you are trainig for an ironman.

I am supposed to be anchoring this team miles wise and I am falling down on the job. Actually I am sitting down :surfweb: as falling down would imply that I was standing up which might count as exercise..... The good news is I have another race this month so I will double mileage again.

Cecilia

Well, today I claim 3 miles in 28 minutes and another 35 minutes of strength/stretch.

On a scarier note...............I signed up to do the WDW half marathon in2009! I don''t know why I felt compelled to, especially since I have never run a race, let alone a half marathon. But I'm going to give it a try. Besides, I have to support the team after the Minnie in May, right?

Loudon is actually just outside of Knox County along the I-75. I'm about 45 minutes north of Chattanooga. As for an Ironman, not yet, but as far as I am concerned the sky is always the limit. I'm just settling into a new job so this week is going to be rough for me miles/time wise but over the next few weeks I'm going to start ratcheting up my miles/time.

Happy Friday

More snow/sleet/rain tonight...

Morning, morning my Super Goofy team!! Today is the last day of the week and you know what that means...GET OUT THERE AND GET IT DONE. This is like the Biggest Loser last chance workout you know. Don't make me go all Jillian on you!!!!! :lmao:

I got out yesterday, yes outside. DH promised we would go for a snowmobile ride so I cut my run to 3 miles. I did it in 32:03, yes finally under the 11 mpm mark. I think you have all inspired me to try a little harder to attain my goal. Now the LR thing is just a dream under 11 mpm. My feet and knees would not speak to me for days. Anyway, after cutting my run short, I returned home to find out that DH had called one of his "boyfriends" as I so lovingly call them and they had gone without me. :guilty: I am not sure what I was more upset about, being left behind or cutting my run short, so to avoid a mega blowout, I just told myself I was mad because of the run. Only a small skirmish ensued, not WWIII. :scared:

I have not heard from Hockeygirl (Laurie), ArelysAdriana, lllovell or KiMickey at all this week. DB if you have any miles/hours to report, please do so and I will post them for you. Otherwise, we will wait until next week to start.

As you can see from the combined thread, we are in last place :sad1: It has been a tough month with us northerners being trapped inside and sickness and on and on so we will just concentrate on shooting to first place next month and shocking all the other teams!!! :scared1: They are all lulled into complacency now, what a master plan we had!! :rolleyes1

Ouch! on being left behind. I have never even been on a snowmobile, I think it sounds like fun.

Last month was a bad month for me. I think this month will look much better. I am going in for a 45 minute strength and stretch again this morning, but first I have to go get a new driver's license. I waited until the last day. Birthdays are bad enough without this hassle!

Keep chugging along everyone!

Happy birthday Cecilia!!! For goodness sake, take the license photo before the workout. Mine would look like :scared1:

I like to snowmobile midweek when there is not much traffic. We went out the other night with DS6 on his machine leading the way and he nearly got clocked on a corner by a kid going too fast and out of control. Funny thing is DD13 was giving them the eye from behind trying to figure out who they were so she could "speak" to them the next day at school. Similar to the part in the Incredibles "don't touch my brother!!!"

As it turns out, DH and his boyfriend went up the river, over open water which is not one of my favorite things to do. Right up there with poking out my own eyeball. 50-60 mph is my max comfort zone and that requires speeds up toward the 80-100 range just to insure you make it so I was better off sitting home obsessing about my missed 20 minutes of running. As long as a LTO moment does not happen this afternoon (DH log truck is down again) then I will make it to the gym where I can do an easy 60 minutes of XT and make up the time/miles.

Cecilia, did I miss your birthday? I'm sorry...belated Happy Birthday, and I'll have some cake for you tonight!

Lisa, I wish I had a personal Jillian, I seem to be stuck! You're doing great keeping me motivated though, thank you!

Angie doll, if I were closer, I would be your personal Jillian. I am studying again for my training certification!!! YAY :woohoo: It would be great practice for me. So.....be careful what you wish for!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and speaking of training, are you doing the run/walk during Great Bay? If so, what are your intervals. I have a couple LRs coming up and I want to practice!!
