Super Goofs June Team Challenge Thread

Hey everyone....yes, I am still a team member, just have not been around for awhile!! But I have a good reason!

I got engaged!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I am so excited, but have been soooo... busy with wedding planning the last several weeks that I have not done ANY training! UGH!!!!! But that is going to change!! This weekend I am going to start from scratch with the Couch to 5k plan!

So, I will be back and contributing to the team totals!!!!!!

Sorry, I don't have time to catch up on the thread right now, but I hope everyone is doing well, and I am going to do my very best to keep up with everyone!

Have an AWESOME weekend!

Laurie - CONGRATULATIONS! party: :rainbow: :jumping1:

laxdef69 - I admire you for exercising during your vacation. At least you got to do it in a fun place. :beach:

Lisa - I'm so sorry that this weekend did not work out for you but I just know you will knock 'em dead in a couple of weeks. I think another PR is just around the corner and we'll be here to cheer you on. :thumbsup2

Maura and Angie and others with ailments - Here's some :wizard: to help you get better soon!

Kim - congrats on a terrific first race! You are awesome! By the way, I run in Brooks Adrenaline. I love those shoes.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi guys, I'm still in here too.

It has been sooo busy this month, I feel like I have been drowning most of the time.

Back to back trials, (multi day) and I am in court every day until I go on vacation on July 5th except for July 1st (only because it is a holiday here).

Anyway, put in about 2 hours only this week.

Plan to hit the gym tonite for another 60 minutes minimum.

Hope all is well with everyone - I will be better at posting I promise.

Begin a new training plan today for my half - hot off the press.

More manageable for vacationing, that will be a challenge.

Away next weekend but staying at a hotel with a treadmill, so no excuses there either.

Princess Vija, still among us? I am so sorry I have not been in touch lately and hope you are still hanging in.

Linda:tinker: :donald: :sulley: :mickeyjum

2.75 hours, 46.5 miles on the bike.

Tomorrow is a 2 mile run, 11 mile bike, 2 mile run duathlon race, and I will have a 1:15:00 run after that to maintain the tri training.

Have a great day!

Mike

Saturday, June 21:

Susie: 28 miles, 2 hours

Steve: Nothing yet. 6am (when I went out) was too early for him. :teeth:

Mike, good luck on your duathlon tomorrow! :cheer2:

Saturday, June 21:

Steve: 10.2 miles, 40 minutes.

Where is everyone? I've got the last three posts. This is what happens when you stay away from the boards for over a month. I'm trying to make up for lost time. :teeth:

Sunday, June 22:

Steve: 21.5 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes

2 mile run, 11 mile bike, 2 mile run.

1:04:48

Beat my goal of 1:05:00 and placed 85th overall!

Times were as follows:

Run 1 16:02
Transition 1 1:09
Bike 30:50
Transition 2 0:54
Run 2 15:55
Total 1:04:48

Interestingly, while the second run felt worse than the first, it was 7 seconds faster.

Time to nappy nap!

Mike

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Today, I did Day 1 of the Couch to 5k program...it was only supposed to be 20 min, but i wasn't back to the car so I continued on! Final results of today's run:

Mike--Great job on your duathlon!!

couple of updates:

Saturday...walk with DD, 47 mins/2.11 miles

Happy Monday everyone!!

Good morning Super Goofs!! Wow, an eventful weekend for everyone, great job. :thumbsup2

Laurie: Super congratulations to you. An awesome reason to have been MIA. We are glad to have you back!!! How exciting!!! :goodvibes

Mike: Congrats on the duathlon and the improved time. See, all that hard work is not in vain. You are an inspiration to us all. ::yes::

Suzanne: Yay for Race for the Taste but are you sure you don't want to do ToT??....what....just asking...:rolleyes1

JimmDuck: Hang in there, we all have LTO and sometimes it is not as fun as getting engaged. Way to get out there in spite of it all.

Maura and Angie: :wizard: PD and I hope you are both feeling better today!

Everyone else: I hope your weekend was awesome!!

As for me, I got in 8 miles at the Relay for Life. I ran for 6 and the other 2 were walking with friends. We served fries, clams, chicken and shrimp and worked our tails off. Our team together raised almost $8,000 which is beyond awesome. I hope that money will save someones life someday! :) I took yesterday off because I was SOOOOOO tired. We got home at 2 a.m. and were up at 7 a.m. DD13 got asked to play softball with the 16-U team on Saturday evening (coach was on our relay team) and she did that yesterday. I watched one game but could not sit in the sun without falling asleep...:scared1: (mom you are so embarassing). We had horrible T-storms in the afternoon and the final game was canceled so they ended up runners up but they were beating the first place team  . A good day though as she is only 13 but put the bat on the ball and made one double play from the short-stop position. When you are 13 and can hang with the 16 year olds, that is a feat in itself.

So today for me is 3-5 miles (depending on the rain, my mood, whether I can shake this non-alcohol induced hangover) and we have softball practice at 6 p.m, again, pending showers. This summer schedule is really starting to cramp into my running!!!

Have a great day Super Goofs and keep on working hard toward your health!! It is all worth it...every day...every step!!!!!! :teeth:

I tried to do W8D2 yesterday after taking 3 days off to try and get my ankle feeling better. Unfortunately, it was hot and humid, and (I realized afterward) I had had no caffeine all day, which did not lead to a successful attempt. I was only able to run for 14 minutes before I became really pooped and decided to walk. I have an informal 5K coming up tomorrow night and I didn't want to push myself yesterday at the risk of being a DNS for tomorrow's race.

Anyway, I did a whopping 1.5 miles in 25.5 minutes. To make matters worse, both ankles and shins are still complaining about it today. How discouraging! Here's hoping I have better news to report after tomorrow's run.

Hi Everybody,
When this challenge started I thought that it would be enough to get my butt in gear and keep me motivated to train but it has not. Over the past few months I have had some crazy work hours and my training has suffered. So I need to pull out of this challenge because I'm just not pulling my weight and its not fair to others. I thank everybody for being so supportive. I will continue to try to get out there to train.

Thank you everybody

Hi goofs

65 total exercise time today.

45 minutes of time was 3.5 miles outside in my new running shoes.

I feel pretty good.

Lynn

Well Super Goofs, it looks like we are down another member. I am starting to wonder what I am doing wrong here. The other teams do not have the turnover that we do. Any suggestions? I can try to be more motivating, etcetera....:confused3

Lynnielou: :woohoo: for new shoes. Love the new shoes.

Suzanne: How goes the Garmining??? Mine told me I had a max pace of 5:50 yesterday. I am positive it had a brain cramp but I am feeling very Kenyan right now!!! ::yes::

All Goofs: :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work.

As for me, I got out for 3 not so quick miles yesterday. I had to wait for a shower to pass and I think it threw me off as I had to rush and well...you all know the 411 on that. ;) My pace was 10:23 for 3.13 miles so not bad and pretty consistent for me in my LR mode. Apparently I forgot to tell myself I was not on a LR...:lmao:

So in an attempt to be more motivational, here is a quote to help keep you moving:

"Sometimes we look so intently toward the pinnacle that we stumble over the steps leading to it. Development begins just where you are." ~Mrs. Herman Stanley.

Lisa I think turnover is just one of those things that happens. Nothing that you do--or don't do--just is. (Spoken in a very Yoda-like voice). Don't fret over it. And these days, 3miles is a LR for me!

Kim Hang in there. Bad runs happen to good people.:)

Mike You are a machine--and I mean that in a good way. Congrats on your race and your awesome workouts. We are jealous (the royal "we")

Suzanne I would love to come do the Race for the Taste, but my DH would probably kill me--I mentioned it once and he graoned.

Angie, Susie You guys are steady--great workouts!

Everyone else Keep it up.

As for me Monday- 45 minutes of weights. Tuesday, 40 minutes of swimming--probably 3/4 mile (did some drills). One day I will be able to keep track of the laps I do!

Maura

Hello Super Goofs!

I am back. I had a wonderful vacation. It was just what I needed. I ran more than I have in over a month! My nephew's girlfriend was with us and she is trying to get in shape so she ran with me after the first day. She is a little slower than my partner and it felt so good to run slower that it really was a vacation!

6/15 -7.0 in 1:08:36
6/17 -7.0 in 1:28:49
6/19 -7.0 in 1:22:47
6/21 -7.0 in 1:20:53

in other words: 28 miles and 5:09:05 (I think)

Congratulations on your first 5k Kim!!!

And Way to go Mike! Awesome times on your duathlon!
