Super Goofs June Team Challenge Thread

No idea how to count this, but I did 40 minutes or so of Dance Dance Revolution last night. It was all the workout my ankle could handle. Afterward, I was pronating so badly that I could watch my ankles roll in. Methinks DH will have to adjust my orthotics pronto. (One of the many benefits of having a live-in podiatrist!)

I'm afraid I will need to walk/limp tonight's 5K instead of walk/run like I was planning. The good news is that the next 5K in the series isn't until July 8, so I should be able to heal that ankle some time between now and then.

Okay- who has been extra smelly this week? We lost another one because we smell so bad!! Yikes- a fellow NHite even! Chad, please come back.....

For myself, I find that if I don't report after each day's activities I totally forgot what I did! I know I ran, rode, and went to the gym but please forgive my crappy memory but after Wednesday- I have no idea! (alzheimers runs in my family)

So for Monday 5 miles in 55 minutes (in the rain- no less). Did not get to ride because it was thunder and lightening out)

Rode for two hours today (such a good boy!)

I have 18 weeks until MCM- I am so excited!

Thursday I have a horse show and I am trying for that elusive blue- six shows so far and always a bridesmaid! We will have a blast regardless- just have to have the talking too before hand as in "NO REFUSALS, Beastie"

Also some other really great news- I got my dream job! I will stay at the STD/HIV clinic and the prison when they need me but I am really excited about my new position!

Lisa- way to go on the Relay! It must make you feel good to do something as noble as that.

Congrats to everyone on getting out there!
Joanne

Suzanne: Yay for Race for the Taste but are you sure you don't want to do ToT??....what....just asking...:rolleyes1

Not doing ToT, I am not off from work on the weekends so I have to either use vacation days or find a part time person to cover my shifts when I do want to race. Not as easy as it should be!

Lisa, I can't wait to meet you in person though!!

Well Super Goofs, it looks like we are down another member. I am starting to wonder what I am doing wrong here. The other teams do not have the turnover that we do. Any suggestions? I can try to be more motivating, etcetera....:confused3

Suzanne: How goes the Garmining??? Mine told me I had a max pace of 5:50 yesterday. I am positive it had a brain cramp but I am feeling very Kenyan right now!!! ::yes::

Love my Garmin. Used it 2x this week already. Best $$ I've spent in a long time.

As far as losing members, I don't think its anything we are doing or not doing. I think its just life. I think you are very motovating so don't change a thing!

Sorry for all the posts with replies, I tried to copy and paste so it would be one post but it wouldn't work correctly for me.

Anyways...Tuesday update...118 min walk with coworkers in the AM/6.78 miles and 30 min bike in the PM/5.78 miles.

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

Good morning Super Goofs.

Suzanne: :( for no ToT. We will have to figure a place and time to meet though while I am there. We arrive the 24th and head straight to NSSHP and then leave early on the 28th.

Joanne: :woohoo: for the job and :wizard: for the blue. I know you guys can do it!! ::yes:: Now if you can just get inside that horsey head. DH always said he did not like riding something that could think for itself and did not have a motor. :confused3 Your first marathon in 18 weeks? :faint:

Yay, Cecilia is back!!! :yay:  :yay:

Everyone else, sorry for the abbreviated post. I am limited on my time this morning.

I had a better than planned run yesterday, one that once you hit the first mile, you could go on forever....right pace, right breathing, right weather, right tunes, you know.....right.....:rolleyes1 I went 4 miles in 41:25 which is really good for me lately. I must be coming back to normal knowing that I start training for the 10K shortly.

Have a great day Super Goofs!!! :cloud9:

1800 yard, 40 minute swim today...i'll post up the run time later...

Mike

Hi Goofs,

Ran yesterday for 40 minutes at 3.3 miles.

Total exercise time was 60 minutes.

My new Brooks shoes (Radius 7) are working out great. They are much lighter than my unofficial older running shoes and there is lots of cushion.

Another run this afternoon....

Lynn

I lived through my first 5K! The pack was very small, and everyone was a fairly elite-level runner -- other than DH and myself, of course. We were the two last finishers (44:35) and were so far behind that we couldn't even see any other runners after the first quarter mile. A pretty humbling experience.

I'm trying to tell myself that I could have gone quite a bit faster if not for the stupid ankle (which made the 5K feel like a longer race than my 4-miler from 2 weeks ago), but even then we still would have been pretty far behind the rest of the pack. And we have two more of these embarrassing races to look forward to! DH is trying to keep it in perspective since he's looking at them as two more chances to improve our times, but I'm feeling a bit discouraged.

The good news is that the ankle is starting to feel better this morning. Still not 100% but we're getting there.

Hey everyone!

Just a quick drive-by. I need to post before I forget this:

Tuesday, June 24:

Steve: 10 miles, 40 minutes.

I've been having some female issues. Ugh! I haven't been able to exercise since last Saturday. I'm going to the doctor this afternoon and, hopefully, he can help me so I can participate in this bike race on Saturday.

Hope everyone else is doing well. I need to catch up on all the posts.

GREAT JOB on finishing!!! Who cares if you and DH were the last to finish. Just think of all the people who didn't even get off the couch and start the race.

(This is all the Super Goofs cheering for you!!)

Good morning Super Goofs! I have a department picnic today :crazy2: so I am off at 10:30 to drive an hour one way to participate in games that mean nothing with people I don't know. Sounds like a hoot doesn't it!!! It is pretty bad when I say I would rather be working. :surfweb: I then have to stay for another hour and a half long staff meeting which puts me home at about 3:30. DD13 has softball practice at 4 p.m. Dinner? Run? Yep you guessed it, I may not get my 4 in today but I am going to try my best. ::yes::

Kim: You and DH did awesome and I think you should look at it as 2 more times to get better and better. I don't usually do 5Ks because my short run speed is not that fast (compared to the "professional" 5Kers). We have a man who lives next door to my in laws who is one of those said professionals and he is on me all the time about how fast is my mile, how fast could I run a 5K, etcetera. Mostly because he does not want to see my back at the finish line!!!! :rolleyes1 You will get faster and I bet by the last 5K, you will be reporting to us with another PR!!!!

Mike: Who you calling a prevert????

All other Goofs:  and get out there and get moving!!!!!! :yay: That's called tough love.....

Hi!

I forgot to post Tuesdays run with my vacation runs.

Tues 6.0 in 1:01
Thurs 4.0 in 38:36
I am getting a little nervous about the triathlon runs I have coming up. It was already miserably hot and humid and its not even 7:15am What will it be like when I start running at 9am? :scared1:
Way to go Kim! You did it! Everyone has to start somewhere and I know all those "elite" runners were proud of you too. I know we are Super proud of you!

Cecilia

6/23
1 mile/16 mins

6/24
1 miles/16 mins

6/25
3 miles/50 mins

fighting a head cold (where did THAT come from) and trying to adjust to our new summer schedule...

Kim: Congrats on your finish!

Cecelia: At least you will be cooled down at the start of your run from coming out of the water, right?

Lisa: Sounds like a ton of fun...enjoy the mean nothing games....:lmao: It actually sounds similar to some of the staff meetings that I have to dial in to...at one point I told them that I would rather actually work than talk about working, so I had to go. About 30 minutes after I hung up, my boss called to chat with me about my "attitude issue".

:furious:

Oh well, today's workout was:

1:30:00 ride, 26.5 miles

Mike: Sympatico with the "attitude" issue. I have to physically drive to these meetings (which they do not pay mileage or transit time) and sit while they talk about issues that have nothing to do with me. Mostly whining and complaining about their computers. My response is, of course, deal with what you have and move on. Hence my attitude. They also did not like that I suggested finding a way to conference call everyone what with the price of fuel these days. At least we have each other!!!

Angie: Cold? Back? You need to get yourself healthy again!! I have had this cold for about 3 weeks now and still don't have my voice back to normal. That and allergies are bringing me down. PD for your ills!!

Cecilia: I don't know how you do it. I remember those hot sticky yucky GA mornings. One of the reasons I moved back to Maine. That, poisonous spiders and snakes!!!!

Total updates from vacation!

Sunday 6/22: 60 min
5 miles

Monday 6/23: 60min
5.5 miles

Tuesday 6/24: 60 min
5.5 miles

Wednesday 6/25: 60 min
6.0 miles
