Super Goofs June Team Challenge Thread

Nurses have a tendency to eat their young so please let me know if you need anything.
Joanne

Joanne...:lmao: :lmao: too funny!! How did the vet check go? Do you get your wonderful mount?

Ksoehrlein: I forgot to congratulate you on your awesome progress. Join the ranks of us runners, heck, you will be passing me!! I sometimes wish I had taken the time starting out to do something like C25K instead of pushing myself too hard. I pay for it sometimes now. Best of luck and keep running!!

To the rest of the Super Goofs. We are back on track now with tomorrow being the last workout of the week to be counted and then onto next week. I have not quite figured out how to handle the end of the month, just keep going Saturday to Friday as usual and add the 28, 29,30 of June to July or something else. I have such a hard time keeping up sometimes that I think this may be my easiest course of action. Any input would be welcome. What works the best for all of you?

I hope everyone feels they have had a great start to June. I know I do!!! Keep on keeping on Goofs.

Lisa, whatever works best for YOU...you are the one putting in the extra time to keep track of all of us...do it whatever way is easiest for YOU....it all balances out in the end anyways....

Thanks Angie. I cannot remember for the life of me where I saw it but Nike is having another one of those virtual races. It is a 10K this time and in June if I remember right (questionable these days). I know you still needed a June race and, hey, how much more convenient can you get? I have the Nike sensor the iPod and you can buy a shoe pocket to hold it if you need one.

I did Week 6 Day 1 of C25K this morning. 2.56 miles in 35 minutes, which once again means I averaged better than 14-minute miles. :cool1:

Hi!

Yesterday at the gym I only did a 30 minute weight workout. Then I sat in a lounge chair and read while my kids went swimming.

Today I walked with a friend. 4.4 miles in about 70 minutes (I think). I was going to run but she called me in tears so I told herr to meet me and we walked and she ranted and raved. Hopefully she felt better after, she said she did. I was going to run then but it was already 90 degrees and I didn't have enough water with me so I bailed on that too.

I am a slug and they die in the heat.

Cecilia

Lisa, I looked it up, and the only Nike virtual race I could find is in August. There's also the small problem that I have a shuffle, not a nano, and don't have the Nike sensor either...I am doing Walk NH on Saturday, even though it isnt a race, it's a group thing, I may have to call that my June event, although I heard mention of World Run Day having a dedication run in June, will have to see if I can find any info on that (and hope I haven't missed it)

Thursday's total

Time: 45 min
Miles: 5.0

Did the elliptical at the gym......way to hot to run outside!

Here it is...LAST CHANCE WORKOUT DAY...and yay it's Friday!! Time to get in those last minute miles and workouts for the first week of June.

Everyone who has the heat: :( Sorry, sorry. We are getting it this weekend just in time for my 7 miles. I left for my run yesterday and it was 64 (perfect right) and when I came back 28 minutes later, it was 75 :faint: . Needless to say, we went from overcast to sunny in that short period of time!!

Cecilia: I don't blame you for bagging the run. I remember the GA heat all too well. Good for you with being a great friend though and getting a walk in all at the same time!

Angie: Okay, I looked it up and apparently the sign up is in June and the race is in August, duh. Tells you how much I really payed attention to that email. Heck, I would have let you use the nano too just so you could get your race in...::yes:: I am going to have to see how I feel after the Beach to Beacon 10K on 8/2 and I may do this race just to say I did it and, well, get the double miles of course!! :thumbsup2

I hope everyone is feeling well and getting out there for their workouts. If everyone could report in by tomorrow, that would be helpful for me. We have our first softball game at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning so I am going to have to work out a time when I can get the spreadsheet done. Just another vote for upgrading to a Blackberry Pearl (not to mention the pretty color) from my little LG Mint (read WISH green) chocolate. Internet on the go would be sweet!!

As for me yesterday, I got my hair done (yay no gray) and rushed up to my mom's apartment to change for a quick run. She talked and talked for a half hour  telling me how lonely she is and that no one ever visits. My mom has turned into a shut in who just expects everyone to call her and come visit her since my dad's death and NOW, 5 years later, has come to the realization that she has chosen a lonely life. Now what?? She expects me to fix it and it is just not something that I can make better. Anyway, a half hour later, I got out for 2.8 miles averaging 9:59 mpm and endured the heat increase as noted. I got everyone picked up and dropped off, enjoyed the game and contemplated my next move with my mother. I am taking the tough love approach right now and it is not working well. She just does not understand that life is what you make it and you have to go for it, not watch it pass you by. Beth, she is one of your proverbial "porch sitters". Sigh, oh well.

Have a rocking good day Super Goofs. I know Mike is working hard in Hawaii, cuz I would be...:rolleyes1 :lmao:

Sorry I have slacked this week, I finished my last final exam last night so I'll be able to get some work out time in! I will post back tonight with my stats! Good news is that I'm down 6 pounds!:thumbsup2

Checking in.....

Wednesday was another 3 mile run with my dog--didn't bring a watch, bu probably 30 minutes (although the 1st mile--yikes, he sure pulled hard!)

Today, 45 minutes of bike & weights (7.25 miles)

Go to see the ortho guy on the 16th to see if anything is wrong with my knee. So I've sorta become a slacker on training for something and am just working out doing the things I feel like doing.

Maura

Hi Everyone!

I went to the gym today since yesterdays run turned into a walk.

20 minutes of weights

1.6 miles on the treadmill in 14 minutes. The darn TM wouldn't read my HRM and kept upping the incline until I was seriously hurting. I decided I didn't really need to run since I am running tomorrow.

7.1 miles on the bike in 22 minutes. Dh says that the machine isn't calibrated right that there is no way I was going that fast. Yeah, well, maybe he is just jealous.

Cecilia

Week 6 Day 2 is under my belt, but it did nothing to boost my confidence about my 4-mile race next Saturday!

Anyway, I did 2.69 miles in 35 minutes this afternoon. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Sorry I did not post earlier. I totally wrecked my back on Thursday. The beast's hoofies did it to me. I could totally feel my back spasm as I cleaned out his hoof. I wanted to die it hurt so bad but since this was one of the last things I needed to do before I rode I was going to tough it out. When I put his bridle on I whispered in his ear- please be good to me I hurt. I think he listened. Getting into the saddle and attempting to ride was another story. We tried the warm up and I swear I could feel my spinal cord rub against itself. Needless to say I cut the ride short. I still had to untack and brush him out! Yikes! I am not a complainer so I had to do it all myself. I cried when I finally got into my car.
Running and spin class was out for the day!
Friday my back was still bothering me and it was raining so I took a yoga class. I had forgotten how much I love yoga. It really loosened every thing up and i felt so much better. This whole thing put my training back a little but -
I did not get into the NYC marathon:(.
Just as well- MCM will be my first!

6/6 3.15 miles in 33:18

The heat and humidity have been draining me and really slowing me down. We spent today prepping & sodding part of our yard. 6 hours in 90 degree heat with 85% humidity...that's got to count toward something, right?

Hi goofs

70 minutes total for me today,

30 minutes of exercises, lower body and abdominal work

40 minutes for 3.3 miles, outside.

Hi Goofs

Sundays exercise:

40 minutes of weights including some mean squats and I don't want to know how many crunches. Remind me not to tell DH that I think my stomach and bottom feel flabby.....

20 minutes on the bike (7.1 miles)

Cecilia - who is now chanting "everything is tight"
