Super Goofs June Team Challenge Thread

1:11:11 on the bike, 20.9 miles.

I will be training while in Kauai, but not posting miles/times until I get back.

Have a great couple of weeks everyone...stay healthy!

Mike

Hi All -

5.4 today in 47:39. A balmy 85 degrees at 6 am. Gotta love it.

Mike - have a great trip!

Maura - I wish our house in Martha's Vineyard was open this summer "cause I 'd let you stay there. But with Dad sick, we are just keeping it closed up. MV is the only place I have ever been in the NE unless you count the airports.

Suzanne - Treadmills at midnight? I don't blame you at all. I couldn't do it either.

I finished Week 5 of C25K this morning! :thumbsup2 A successful 20-minute interval of running without walking breaks -- woo hoo!!! My total when you add in the walking warm up and cool down was 2.5 miles in 34:45.

Oh, and double woo hoo: I finally averaged faster than a 14-minute mile. (It was faster than a 13-minute mile before that final, very SLOW, cool down walk.) Race for the Taste finish line, here I come!

Kim Congrats on your C25K milestone--every one should be celebrated. Sounds like you are really ready for the ToT race.

Maura

Thanks, guys! I feel like I'm well on my way to joining the ranks of you real runners some day.

2 hour walk today, about 8 miles

Next week I am walking on a marked path so I can see how accurate my pedometer is. I think I REALLY need a Garmin.

Angie (PUNGODINGY)...what kind were you and your sisters wearing at the Minnie. I don't care about the heart rate but I want the miles, minutes and to set the pace.

Suzanne...once you run with a Garmin, you'll wonder how you ever ran without one before.

I love my garmin. I have the 305, which I got on sale around Christmas time for about $150...it was actually cheaper than the 205 at the time. Mine has the heartrate monitor, but I haven't ever used that feature. I just use it for distance and time and it's wonderful because I can go for a run without having to pre-plan a route. What ever model you go with, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Just my two cents :)

Sorry guys....I've be a major slacker lately.

First I just wanted to Welcome all the new Super Goofs.

Not much to report here. I'm still on the walking / ellipitical circuit. I hope to get to a running plan soon. I thought I would just post my May stuff here (hope that is ok).

Data for the rest of May:
Ellipitical : 16.75 miles / 5 hours
Walking : 19 miles / 4 hours

So far for June, I did the ellipitical for 4.2 miles / 1 hour.

Also was crazy enough to play in a charity softball tourny. ( I'm getting too old :rotfl2: ). We ended up getting elimated but it was fun.

I love my garmin 305. Amazon usually has the best price. The wrist band is a little heavy and bulky for my girly wrist but the panel is easy to read.

I love my nike plus/ipod but it is a little inaccurate and I don't know how to fix that. I love when Lance tells me I've done a good job! Plus all the virtual races are alot if fun!

I usually use both. Last Sunday my ipod was dead so I ran with just the Garmin. Quite boring without music but I managed!

Hope this helps. I also never use the heart rate monitor. My rate has always been too fast and I am not sure I would like the feeling of that band across my chest.

Yesterday- rode for 2 hours and ran 3.26 miles in 38 minutes

I love my Garmin too. So does my running partner. She told her dh that if she wasn't going to get to run her long runs with me, then he had to buy her a garmin. I love knowing my pace as I run. I love not having to run any set route.

My 305 looks big, but it is actually pretty light on my wrist. I highly recommend it. Check the sales at Costco - I got mine for about $150 and it was the best money I have spent on running barring shoes.

I am off to the gym today once the kids wake up.

Garmins, well, I have a 101 that I got off a clearance rack at Target for $49 (and it came w/a free water bottle)...oldest model (I think) but it does what I need, and it was cheaper than the newer prettier models, so that's all that matters...one DSis has a 201 and the other has a 301. I am pretty dependent on mine now...

6/2
1 mile/16 mins

6/3
3 miles/46 mins

Did someone say Garmin????? I LOVE my Garmin......as much as my iPod! I never thought I would love something as much as my iPod! I have a 305, but only used the heart rate monitor once. Could have gotten away with a 205, but my dh got a good deal on it. My dsis got herself one with her tax refund. She was quite jealous of mine, and needed her own!

Tuesday's totals

Time: 60min
Miles: 5

It was a pretty decent run. I pushed myself for 4 miles (10:30 pace) but did cool down for the fifth mile. The body is still getting used to the low carb lifestyle right now. It takes awhile for me to feel okay without the carbs. I will get there......

Hi everyone,
I wanted to check in real quick and let everyone know that I'm not flaking out on you all! I am in college (nursing school) and this week is finals week for me. So all of my spare time outside of working full time has gone to my studies this week. I plan to get a work out this evening. I'll post back with my stats.
Hope everyone is having a good week.

Randi

Hey guys :goodvibes

I have been kind of slacking on posting, but I'm still here and still running my butt off.

princessrunner, my miles and hours for the last week of May are 15 miles and 6hours and 38 minutes.

I haven't done much this week yet, so I'm holding off on posting until Friday or Saturday so I can just post my week totals. It is easier for me to keep track of it that way :)

Good evening Super Goofs. Wow, that was strange, I almost NEVER post at night. I was on a field trip with DS6 class today, hence my MIA this morning. Not to worry, I am still lurking around.

Garmin, yea for Garmin, my Garmin, will never run without my Garmin!!:thumbsup2 I love, love, love seeing my pace and knowing if I should speed up or (rarely :lmao: slow down) and I also love seeing my pace average and the fastest time when I was running down hill with a tailwind and a tractor trailer truck passing me....:rotfl2: I have a 205 but would LOVE to get a 405. I like the smaller design and the wireless transfer would be great so I did not have to take that extra step.

ArelysAdriana and DisneyLuv, I am going to put your May miles in with the June miles. I hope you don't mind but it took me a half hour to update the spreadsheet today and I don't want to go back for a few days. :badpc:

On the up side, we are on the comeback in the standings. Everyone is working so hard and it is showing, just look for yourselves!! Of course, Mike and his fantastic 400+ miles may have something to do with it!! Yay Mike :woohoo: Do you think he can hear me in Hawaii...or care... Keep up the good work everyone, we are rocking now!!! :rockband:

Hi Randi-
As a nurse practitioner, I've been there and done that. If you ever need any advise or help- please contact me. Nurses have a tendency to eat their young so please let me know if you need anything.
