Super Goofs Flying into February team thread

Mike - hope you get good news today.

Shan - good luck and lots of PD for a speedy recovery.

Suzanne - I'll be there for Princess but not doing the 5K. Going to make the Pop meet?

Last night I got in 10 min (2.87 miles) bike as warm up /cool down for a core routine that 1) had me looking at the pictures twice and 2) has a 2 min cardio burst between each set. Definitely different but think it went well so going to stick with it 2-3 times a week.

Tonight is a pizza party with the motorcycle club so not likely to get anything in. Will see about ramping it up tomorrow.

Oh, did not make the class at the gym due to stopping to pick up Rx and waiting over 15 min with only one person in front of me. To say they are slow is an understatement....

Have a great day team!

Shan Hope your surgery goes well and you heal quickly. Make sure you get all the rest and TLC you need & deserve.

Mike Hope your ortho appt went well.

Suzanne Sending healing pixie dust your way.pixiedust: I wish I could find a decent airfare to make it to the Princess, but no luck. I can get down there at a good fare, but nothing on the way home.

Nothing for me today. Had my late work night/early work morning monthly combo. So today counts as rest day. Back to it tomorrow!

Maura

I'm cleared for cycling today, swimming on Friday, and no running for SIX weeks.

He said that I have some accumulated damage and arthritis, and from a knee joint preservation perspective, I shouldn't be running at all.

He did admit that I probably wouldn't do TOO much incremental damage with one Ironman, so this is it for me...no second chances on the IM

My plan is to start back cycling and swimming ASAP, and do my "running" work outs on the elliptical until the end of March...hope this works!

Thanks for the support and positive thoughts all...

Liz...don't think I am going to make it to the Pop meet, we are planning on going to the Strawberry festival in Plant City (near Tampa) after the 5K.

Maura...have you checked Southwest for airfare, they are having a big sale right now out of Detriot.

Angie...thanks for the card, it made my day!!

Mike...glad to hear things are looking up.

I hope to get back on the bike tomorrow.

I am here, just have not been posting much on the thread. Seems I have time to get home from work, exercise, fix dinner, do dishes, relax and get the numbers on the google doc.

I had 40 minutes tonight for 6 miles on the stationary bike.

I really do appreciate the google doc, it is fantastic.

Oh, did I mention that the water table/level is high and we have some water in the basement? At least DH can handle it with the shop vac. What an inconvenience.

We are not done with winter, however, the forecast calls for 3 to 5 inches on Saturday.

Have a great rest of the week everyone.

Lynn

35 EASY minutes on the bike...knee doesn't hurt but i'm taking no chances...Ice, aspirin and a nice tumbler of dewars on tap next.

Morning Goofs! I had a productive day off albeit VERY tiring!

Shan, :wizard: for surgery. I am sorry I am late with it and you won't see it until after but I am keeping you in my thoughts.

Mike, did you ask about running in the pool for your "run" workouts? See if they will clear you for that. My MIL knew someone who trained for a full marathon completely in the pool and had no issues on the road. Just some thoughts.

Cecilia, now THAT sounds like cold to me!! I have had to take a hot shower after a run but never had to resort to the sauna.

Angie, I agree with Suzanne that the card made my day too! You are one of the sweetest!!

Suzanne, while at the Strawberry Festival, look for a short (5 feet) graying redhead who is about as round as tall walking with an elderly German woman. The redhead would be my mom!! She is in Zephryhills for the winter and they ALWAYS go to the Strawberry Festival!

Liz, WHAT??? You missed the class??? I was so hoping to get my Latin fusion virtually through you!! :lmao: Maybe next week...:rolleyes1

Happy Thursday to everyone else.

Here, it is snowing, we should end up with about a foot of fresh stuff when it is all done....tomorrow... On the up side, the kids are on vacay and not missing another day of school! I got my miles in over my time off and my legs are pretty sore today. Thankfully, it is only 4 miles today and on the TM in the basement or the Leslie Sansone DVD, whichever feels right at the time. I got the dog to the vets with much trauma, a little tinkling and him not talking to me the entire way over. He only weighed in at 107 pounds which was quite a disappointment to me. I was sure he outweighed me. I had to pick up his front end with the harness and pull him into the vets. It was quite a show. Today, due to the snow, we have NOTHING GOING!!! :woohoo: Yay, horray. Of course something will come up, cuz it always does! I still need to finish cleaning the house, get in my miles, and get some laundry done. :laundy: So, a laid back day for me and I hope for everyone else too!!!

Good luck again Shan!!! :wizard: :wizard: :grouphug:

Just a quick update as I just input my missing miles/minutes to the spreadsheet. Currently we are at:

619.88 miles
138:56 hours

Holy cow!!! :scared1: :scared1:

In other news, we have zero miles recorded for the following:
Escape and Nukeman
Groovygirls
UP_disney
ArelysAdriana

Also Mike, you need to add in Joanne (Groovygirls) DH to the list.

Joanne, has he decided on a name yet????

Hi Goofs!

I woke up this morning feeling like I had been hit by a bus. ANOTHER cold. This time though, I am actually going to REST so that I can get better quickly.

Shan - thinking of you. I hope the surgery went well and you get the results you were hoping for.

Mike - Hang in there! I have a buddy that "shouldn't run at all" but he is going for a marathon in all 50 states so he runs anyway. This year he is running Boston....

Lisa - Enjoy the down time. I am a wimp when it comes to cold - I could never survive in Maine!

Take Care Everyone!
Cecilia

Cecilia: Sorry to hear about your cold.....what a bummer. I hate colds....and if you don't take care, it will just get worse. Rest!

Lisa: More snow? UGH! You take it like a trooper, though. Hence, why you live in Maine and I don't! I am sick of winter, and looking very forward to Spring! The Goofs are doing well in miles and minutes, huh?

Shan: I hope the surgery is nothing major, and PD for getting better! :wizard:

Mike: At least you can bike and swim......my sister-in-law just ran the WDW marathon training totally on the elliptical! She has had surgery on one knee, and the other is bad too. She felt great! So, the elliptical will do it for you, I am sure!

I had a down day yesterday training wise......I was really beat. I did finally put 3 miles in on my TM, but they were very uninspired 3 miles to say the least!

Beth

I closed off access for about 20 minutes to make some edits.

Now when new team members are added in any particular month, their name gets carried through to the end of the year.

We should be good to go.

OH...NICE work Goofs on minutes and miles...we are the team to beat this year!

Mike

Morning Goofs. Anyone out there????? :listen:

I made up all my missing miles from last weekend and ended up with 25.45 total miles for the week which makes me happy. Today is 5 and 9 this weekend again. DS7 has a swim meet tomorrow (intersquad only) and DD14 has field hockey practice at the same time. Then we are off to Hampton, NH for a field hockey tournament all afternoon/evening Sunday. It is supposed to snow again so I may not even make it home Monday!! Shelby will love missing a day of school like that...not....

I did my measurements again for body fat and I am happy to report that I am down nearly 2% from 2 weeks ago. Changing my eating pattern has really seemed to help out a lot. That and better choices when I eat (who knew!!) have gotten me down closer to where I want to be. I am also down 2 pounds and -3 inches which make me very happy!! :woohoo:

Busy day and busy weekend ahead. I am off the first part of next week so I will check in as I can. Big snowmobile trip planned for DH and I so who knows where I will be???!!! :magnify: :cold:

I'm posting now to avoid going to swim...its cold out there baby!

Shan: Good luck with your surgery...hope you get nothing but good news and a fast and complete recovery.

Beth: Down miles are better than NO miles...way to stick to it!

Lisa Stay warm...nice job getting the miles in...I try not to sweat "making up" miles and/or workouts; its mentally too tough on me, and I don't have enough mental capacity to worry that!

Cecelia Recover from that cold...REST and fluids!

All the rest of the great Goofs Have a wonderful day/weekend! Those who are sick, get healthy, those who are healthy, stay healthy.

Mike

Sorry Gang, I've been MIA.
I am somewhat depressed because I have come to the decision I cannot afford to buy the horse I have been leasing for almost three years. His owner offered me a really great deal but I just can't afford it right now. I lost one of my weekend jobs (they got rid of all the per diem people- kept the FT and PT, effective immediately). I am able to pick up extra shifts at my other job but only until May. I had to cancel the house keeper for now. YIKES!

WWYD moment- my boss told me I can pick up the extra shifts and she will phase out the other NP (I will take her hours) The other NP does not know but she is dreadfully incompetent. My boss said "don't say anything to her" but I would want to know. For now I am going to keep my mouth shut.

Catch up:
2/11 rode for 2 hours
2/12 tread mill for 3 miles/30 minutes the 30 minutes of a exercise DVD
2/16 one hour spin class and 1/2 hour with trainer
2/17 75 minute spin class
2/18 and 2/19 30 minute exercise DVD
2/20- it's my b-day! I am going to have a nice glass (or two) of a great bottle of wine.

1) Happy B-Day!

2) You would want to know if you were dreadfully incompetent? just kidding, but you have a dreadfully incompetent Nurse Practitioner seeing patients? IMHO, unless you want to be the one looking for work, you should plan on picking up the extra shifts as they become available...maybe the practice is getting slow and the doc can't justify two of you?

3) Happy B-Day!

4) Sorry about the horse situation...nothing can make that feel better, but you are making the responsible decision to not take on that overhead...

5) you guessed it...happy birthday!

:stitch2: Monday Mixers w/ Team 'Ohana :stitch2:

I thought I'd let the Goofs know that Team 'Ohana is inviting their WISH family to come visit its thread on Mondays. We thought this would be a good way for people on the teams/threads to get to know other WISHers better. Plus, 'Ohana like to think we know how to throw a party and we always like new guests! The drinks are free, if virtual, and no one will tell you when you've had enough. :upsidedow

I'll post a reminder on Monday, with a loose question/discussion topic to get the conversations going. There's no need to stick to the topic, of course, as it's really your sparking, non-alcoholic but still intoxicating presence that is requested. So, if you have a little time for socializing with your cousins, please stop by 'Ohana on Monday! :goodvibes

Just checking back in. Mike and Shan, P&PD! Take good care of yourselves.

I had an off week exercise-wise. I had to travel two days for work. I did bring my gear and ran 7 miles on a nice trail next to our campus. We had so many evening plans this week too so I barely managed my three training runs and two spins on the bike.

My wife and I are doing a local race tomorrow morning. She is doing the 2-mile while I watch our DD and I'm running the 5.1-mile immediately after. This will be her first race since starting the Couch to 5K program. She's just starting her final week and is running 28 minutes now. I'm really proud of her.

We have some rain on the forecast so she may pass on the race until a 4-miler in three weeks. I will most likely do the run tomorrow no matter what Mother Nature has in store. I've got a ton of sick time to burn at work! :lmao:

Have a great weekend everyone!

-steve

Steve:

Thanks for the good thoughts, and nice job getting your training in...its a bear to stay focused on training when you are away from the routine...I've got a week coming up in March that is going to test me.

Goofs, don't forget, you get double miles for any racing events!

Today i got in an hour on spin, and 25 minutes of walking.

Ice, aspirin, and unfortunately too early for Scotch...but I'm waiting patiently!!!

Have a great weekend Goofs!

Mike

It's Saturday and of couse, it's snowing. Took the dog for a walk and slipped at least five times on partially snow covered sidewalks.

Finally updated the spreadsheet. Not too bad, but a couple of early morining teleconfeerences really screw up the schedule.

Steve Hope your races went well.

Still looking to escape to the warm.....

Maura

Hi everyone,
Sorry about no update for a while - my computer gave up the ghost Feb 12th or so, so I have been a bit out of touch. I have been running every day, so when I have my logbooks back (hopefully tomorrow), I should be adding about 30 or 40 miles.

I was supposed to do a 16 or 17-miler this morning, but bagged it after 4.5 or so. It wasn't the heavy snow, the limited visibility, or the gusting wind. What got to me was the layer of ice hidden by the snow - I decided to quit before I took a tumble that would sideline me for a while.
