Laundry is always fun, right? I am wondering if people who have used the lanudry facilities have noticed anything special about the laundry detergent they sell. I read about the laundry rooms and that you can buy detergent in the laundry rooms, and should use 2 tablespoons per load. Because of some allergy issues, I would rather bring detergent to use in the hotel laundry machines instead of buying it on site. Does it matter what kind we bring? Like is any powdered detergent fine? I don't want to be the person who breaks the washing machine. No one wants to do laundry on vacation, and then they even more don't want to show up to do the laundry and discover a broken machine!

Thanks!

I always bring detergent for He machines.

Excellent! So nothing special to worry about?
I haven't had any problems with the detergent. I have had problems with the machines not working after I made a payment. There is an option to get a refund or to select another machine, which I had to do last time. And there were some machines in the laundry room that were not listed in the laundry room website. But otherwise, it was fine. :)

Excellent!! Thank you so much. :) One less thing for me to obsess over as I plan.

The Detergent they sell is "Green" Detergent.

We always use it-one less thing to pack-and use the whole box and never had any problems.

And,to us,doing Laundry at WDW doesn't "feel" like as much of a chore as it does at home-where else can you be doing Laundry next to someone from Australia,Brazil,Scotland,Japan,etc.(pre-Covid).

I had to do laundry unexpectedly a couple years ago at Boardwalk. I have a serious skin allergy to something in a lot of detergents and have to use free and clear for everything. As someone else said, the brand is green and there are both regular and free and clear options. I had no problems with the free and clear detergent.

I always bring pods of some kind along with softener sheets. Never had an issue, except for the jerks who leave their laundry in the washing machine or dryer for hours on end.

We are an All Free & Clear family and had to do unexpected laundry and we were fine with the powdered detergent from the vending macine. My plan going forward is to just buy it there since I have trouble finding travel size free & clear and don't use pods at home.

I have done laundry at GF, CR, GF Villas and Pop. Always bring pods in a baggie tucked inside a shoe in suitcase. No problems at places named.

I always bring my own. But it doesn't have to be powder....I use pods.

I bought a small bag of free and clear pods just for travel. Pop a few in a Ziploc and the rest just stay stored at home for the next trip. I don't always do laundry, but it's nice to have them just in case and I know I won't react to them.

You know about the laundry machine app, right? There is a sign in the laundry room that will tell you how to work it but I'll fill you in now.

The key is that this app will tell you in real time how much time is still on your machine. It will also tell you how many open machines there are in a given location.
http://www.laundryview.com/selectproperty

It also lists Universal resorts and other hotels are using it. You search by your hotel first and then it lists the laundry room by area, like for the Beach Club it lists "Beach Club Inside".

The Pro Tip for using this app is that you can use it to check how many machines are available BEFORE you lug your laundry over to the location you are using.

This app is really great but I was hoping that they would finally update it to tell you when a handsome hunk of burning love is available in the laundry room to help you fold your unmentionables. So far no dice, so we will just have to have our husbands help do the folding.

SECOND Pro Tip! : Invest in new underwear before the trip in case a pop up laundry fashion show should occur unexpectedly. Gurrl, you better WORK that runway!

THIRD Pro Tip! :scared1: Bring your refillable mug and fill it with vodka and a small amount of fruit juice. Doing laundry while drunk is way more fun than doing it sober. You also will walk way more "artsy" during that laundry room pop up fashion show if you have been drinking.

The large laundry rooms usually have HE machines. So make sure you are using HE detergent. The in room laundry in the DVC one, two and three bedroom villas (plus the bungalows and cabins) are not HE, but they leave laundry detergent in the room to use.

Last year at our DVC resorts there were small bottles of ECOS brand detergent. We are super sensitive and bring our own ( Biokleen) but ECOS ia also great. We took the extra one home with us - perfect little size and no smells. We were pleasantly surprised!
