Super Bowl MON at MK Advice

For what it's worth, we've never noticed exceptionally heavy crowds in the MK that day, even for the parade really. But the actual parade is kind of fun--the crowd is generally very friendly and happy and the pictures are amazing. We've also seen other ESPN personalities around the park and have seen player interviews being filmed in the MK. It's enough for us to make a long weekend out of it whenever we can.

I was hoping someone who's been there on the day after the bowl could chime in on crowds. I am SURE if Peyton Manning is the MVP then the park will crowded near parade time. We wouldn't mind catching the parade if we can find a spot. Just don't want to battle crowds most of the day. We shall see!

No more so than anyone else. Dude's just a dude, except on the football field.

Yea maybe a few locals will go just to see him (If he is named MVP) for 15 minutes but very few non locals are going to jump up and say "We have to go to WDW tomorrow to see the Peyton".

1. Disney doesn't have some kind of contract with the NFL, do they? Does the Super Bowl MVP have to show up? I suppose Disney throws enough money at the MVP that he's willing to attend. But what's another 100K or so when you're already pulling down 10 million+ per year?

2. I think I'd rather stay another day in the host city or go back home to celebrate with family and friends.

Jim

1. Yes they would have to have a contract, its a marketing campaign like any other marketing campaign. Disney not only pays the MVP but the NFL (for use of the uniform) and probably the Players Union. So I would say unless the named MVP has some major emergency or maybe had some terrible injury right at the end of the game, going to WDW or DL is an obligation of being named MVP.

2. Now you are saying oh poor soul they HAVE TO go to WDW. Well its not a real trip. After doing X number of morning shows they get on a plane, land, probably run to the limo because they are running late, go straight backstage, appear at WDW which is usually just the 15 min parade, get whisked back to the airport and on to countless more interviews ending with an appearance on one of the late night talk shows. After maybe getting a few hours of sleep.

So even if they didn't do it they are not just hanging around relaxing after the game. :thumbsup2

If the Seahawks win (please god I hope they do), I will DEFINITELY be at the parade with my Seahawks hat on cheering!

I would find it strange through that a Seattle player would go to WDW.... wouldn't it be more likely that they'd go to DL because it's the park in Seattle's market?

Ethan

probably but heading over to ESPN would be a bad idea unless they have some sort of outdoor venue. Its been reported that you have to get there around 10:30 or half hour before it opens to have any chance at a table.

This year I think they are doing something where you can kind of get an ADR. You pay $50 for a reserved table and that money then goes towards your food and drink.

Just wondering if they do it this way so to not call it an admission fee. I think if they do other rights apply .
I stayed at Boardwalk last year super bowl weekend. ESPN Club had a bunch (well, like 4 or 5) of large TV's outside, extra seating outside for dining, and then bleachers behind the dining seating. I don't think there was any admission for the bleachers, and I only saw the crowd right before the game, as I was running off to an ADR and detoured out of curiosity, it was definitely crowded, but not overwhelming at that point. (I cannot imagine watching the entire game from those bleachers though)

I thought the same and that they had a choice but I think its now a WDW exclusive promo for the parade.

But now that I think about I think I heard they do the commercial twice once for DLR and once FOR WDW and play them in each respective market.

Think it'll be that bad, huh :)

The saying goes, a rainy day in February keeps the crowds away. I was there a few years ago at the end of Feb and it was cold and rainy. Souring was a walk on which was actually bad since we wanted get out of the rain.

Since the game is in New Jersey this year, it's much easier and quicker for them to fly down to Orlando to do the parade, then send them home from there. So even if Seattle wins, they still might do it in WDW just because it's logistically easier. (maybe that is just my wishful thinking logic. :) )

Do you plan a trip specifically plan a trip to see the MVP or just decide that night?

We plan the trip over Super Bowl weekend specifically to see the MVP parade. Of course we're there for a couple of days and do other things, but the MVP parade is the reason I'm at WDW that weekend. Otherwise I've got a much more comfy couch and nicer TV at home!

I've got my fingers crossed for an up-close shot of Mr. Manning and Mickey on Monday morning!
