We just got back from a 4 day on the Wonder. On board ship, they were offering a special deal for the 4 day starting Super bowl Sunday. They said they were having trouble filling the ship because of the Super Bowl. Did anyone sign up for this cruise and does anyone remember what the rates were for Cat 9? Is booking while still on the cruise a good way to book another cruise?

Thanks

Wow, this is interesting.

We are on the Magic leaving the day before. If they are having trouble filling it, do you think there is a chance that we might get upgraded? I will have to ask my TA to check into that.

Our friends were just upgraded from a Cat 7 to a Cat 6 (they leave on tomorrow's Wonder).

I have had that cruise booked for months now and have seen only three others from these boards are too. I can tell there is a lot of space left because I check the DCL reservations on line to "get a quote" and the room catagories are all still listed. You can get a quote for a cat. 9 on the web site, if you want. We have two adjoining cat. 10 (secret portholes) for $1600 (about ) each, including insurance, three people in each room. I just can't pass this up. ;)

Just wanted to add that typically the Super Bowl is the last Sunday in Jan. After 9/11 last year however, it ended up being a week later because there were no football games the weekend after the national tragedy.

:(

I believe the superbowl is Jan 26th this year. We sail on the Magic on Sat 1/25, and I know it was a big deal for some of our friends that we would not be at their superbowl party, so I am pretty sure 1/26 is the date.

Hi
Will they broadcast the superbowl on the ship? I could be in trouble if the Patriots pull it out again this year and DH and DBIL can't watch the superbowl!!

Everyone has told me that the Super Bowl will be shown in ESPN, sereral bars and your stateroom. Besides the Super Bowl is on ABC this year, and guess who owns ABC......:Pinkbounc :bounce:

We booked three staterooms, Cat 9, one with 4, $1600 and 2 with 3 each, $1300. We can not wait....it will be the best Super Bowl Party ever!

DCL never turns down a good opportunity to make some money off their passengers.

I'd almost bet on the fact that they will not show the Super Bowl in the staterooms. They'll put it on in the ESPN Skybox and maybe in the bars.

Just the skeptic in me flaring up :teeth:

They always make a special effort to show the Super Bowl onboard, even when it's broadcast by a network other than Disney's ABC.

Not sure about the staterooms, though.

I hope they show the Super Bowl all over. I'm afraid that my DS15 is going to realize that this is the first time in (ever?) that he doesn't have school the Mon. after the game. I used to have family parties on the night of the "big game" and stopped when the kids got too big (school next a.m.) I do hope other kids in middle school and high school end up being on the cruise!! Or at least a bunch of sports fanatics and some who can shoot hoops!

Go Vikings!!!! Hey, I can dream, can't I??????

BTW, are all you posted on thye 1/26 Wonder, or is anyone on the 1/25 Magic?

UGH, excuse my terrible typing on the previous post. My fingers were really going crazy.

We are two families traveling togeter.

DS14, DS13, DS13, DD9, DD6, DS6.

The boys love basketball and will be at the ESPN Sunday as soon as we board, if I know them.

The superbowl was in the staterooms last year....

My oldest will definitely be up playing b-ball, all day long if he can!
We live in Maryland, so not too far from you. I guess you all are taking the kids out of school? (Have I talked to you on those threads?, I wonder) This will be our first cruise and we can't wait!!
:D :D

(I think I lost the reply I just tried to post, so I'll say this again)
My boys love basketball, too, especially my oldest and I know he will spend most of his time playing, if he can. Did you go on the Super Bowl cruise before? This is our first. I guess your kids will be missing school too. Have I talked to you on the posts about that dilema? We are very excited, and now that I know more kids my kids' ages are on the cruise I am getting truly "psyched"!:D :D

I was brought up in Montgomery Co. MD. We just live across the river and Fairfax Co. schools are closed Thursday and Friday....that is why we decided to do this. My friend that we are traveling with is a teacher and we will be doing school work on the trip, I am sure.

You really have a wonderful trip to look forward to....we have travelled extensively with the children and this was very close to the best.

just wondering if you got my p.m.? I thought it was funny that we were both brought up in Mont. Co.
