Thanksgiving Week Trip 2005
Cast included me, Disney Nut 48 and my two teen DSs. Dad stayed home!
Sunshine Seasons at the Epcot's The Land Lunch Review
We were on the dining plan.
We opted to eat at SS in The Land because of the menu and reviews. It ws definitely the right choice if you want a change from counter service burgers and fries. I had the rotisserie beef flatbread with wild greens and tabbouleh. It was excellent. I loved the beef and the flatbread was a generous size with just the right amount of "tug" and chewiness to the bite. It was the perfect size for me but others might find it too light. DS #1 had the same dish but with the rotisserie chicken. DS #2 picked the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and scoffed it right down. Good stuff for counter service!
Desserts were huge and we picked well. Two of us had the key lime tart. It was light rather than dense with a buttery graham cracker crust. The filling was so generous that it seemed to be a mile high. It had a delightful lime taste and was just perfect to cap my meal. My other DS had a generous slice of chocolate cake that was delectable. (I managed to swipe a taste.
)And I don't really like chocolate! It was moist and flavorful without being cloyingly sweet. Fabulous desserts!
Were we full? Absolutely but not stuffed considering the size of the desserts. Service was friendly and the cashier said by all means, you can get a larger size iced tea on the dining plan. Which we did after we put our trays down. All we had to do is show the receipt. We found a table over by the Nestle's kid kitchen area which is kind of out of the way.
The ambience is negligible but it is counter service after all. Lots of seating, kind of noisy, people milling about everywhere due to the new hit ride, Soarin'. I think it is on a par with AK's Tusker House for food quality. Excellent considering the number of people they feed!
I found the layout of the food stations a little bit confusing. We should have scoped things out more before we got our food. We generally eat on the early side and it was not overly crowded yet. We would go back in a heartbeat. We ate here when it was the old counter service. No comparison!
