Sunshine Seasons at Epcot

Looking for a light lunch at Epcot -- something relatively quick, relatively healthy.
How's this place stack up?

That should fit your bill. They have a lot of variety and the place is geared for nutrition. Although I have to say I am not too impressed with the way they changed it. I liked it before when each stand had its own line and everything. Now it is too confusing.

You can custom-order what you'd like, but no, they don't let you touch the food, if that's what you meant. (At least not in January.)

They seemed to have a lot of variety we just had a small snack here, hoping to be able to eat a meal here next month..

By the way can you use a snack credit on anything here? Anyone had any experience with this besides just drinks?

I had never seen anyone make tehir own sandwiches before, but the way I saw it last year, you go and get what they prepare - there is no organization it seems at all.

The Sunshine Seasons (Counter Service) in the Land Pavilion since it was refurbished has nothing we ever want and with all the choices in World Showcase we won't be eating at SS. Don't get me worng before they changed it, it was a great spot for a snack (potato skins, BBQ sandwich, ice cream etc...) now it's grab and go pre packaged stuff and the hot food always looks awful. Thats my opinion.

If you want to experience food in world showcase, great food at counter services can be found in Mexico's Cantina de San Angel. This CS is located across from the Mexican pavillion and has excellent wet burritos. China's Lotus Blossom Cafe has great spicy beef and sweet and sour chicken. Germany has a walk up CS for wonderful bratwurst! If you are adventurous try some sushi rolls at Japan's Yakitori House or lamb (like Gyros) at the Tangierine Cafe in Morocco! Don't forget fish and chips in the United Kingdom at Harry Ramsden. All of these places have a variety of menu items! So forget Electric Umbrella for hotdogs and premade patties. I will second the Fountian View Bakery in Futuer World!

So strange. Our experience with the new Sunshine Seasons was completely opposite -- we considered it among the best CS options available at WDW now.

Sunshine Seasons was my favorite CS place in the entire WDW. There are a lot of choices from salads to rotisserie chicken to Asian stir fry to freshly prepared sandwiches. My kids had mac 'n' cheese and chicken drumsticks with mashed potatoes. And the desserts here to amazing. Plus, there's a lot of fresh fruit to choose from if that interests you.

We liked the dessert from our lunch so much that on our next Epcot day, we used 5 snack credits here: DH and I both had fruit tulips, and the kids had chocolate chip cookies and worm in dirt.

The food is certainly a higher quality than the standard CS places in WDW, and if you're over in Future World, the only other option is Electric Umbrella which is just disgusting. So my advice is to go to Seasons and enjoy. But just as everything in Disney, if you arrive at the peak time, you'll find yourself dealing with crowds.

The basic difference is that if you had to choose between tabouleh and coucous or bqq and potato skins, which would you choose?

If you liked the bqq option best, you probably wont like the new Sunshine Seasons.

Personally, I enjoy the artisan breads for the sandwiches, I enjoy the flatbread with beef and field greens, I enjoy tomato and mozarella cheese in a light oil with oregano from the grab and go.

Many of the items get topped with a green sauce, which i've heard from more than one person "Eww!" I'm pretty sure it's an aioli, and regardless it doesn't taste bad at all.

I feel compelled to defend Sunshine Seasons from the poster above who said it was just "prepackaged stuff" and food that "looked awful" (I gather the poster did not actually try the food). I'm shaking my head. I don't think there is any prepackaged stuff at Sunshine seasons other than some chips and possible sushi. But this place is FANTASTIC. I think it is hands down the best CS place in WDW. We could not have been more impressed and we have tried almost everywhere in the World. The food is fresh and excellent quality. The soups were delicious, the flatbreads were delicious, the sandwiches are freshly made and delicious, and the desserts were amazing - including the strawberry shortcakes.

Tips to those on the DDP - they let you get a soup as a "side" for your CS. Everything is huge - 2 people could easily share one CS unless you are huge eaters.

I will not miss SS on future trips.

I really disagree with the tip to go over to Mexico and try their CS, which, IMO, is gross cafeteria-quality tex mex (not even as good as Taco Bell). TAngerine CAfe in Morocco was very good, and also huge portions.

This was our favorite CS in the entire World...ALONG with FT BBQ

I bought NOTHING prepackaged....I am a healthy eater and was doing weight watchers at this time....

I had a flatbread steak wrap with some kind of olive oil and seasonings on it...it was very tasty and the dessert choices were wonderful!

We had the brownies, cookies, strawberry shortcake (NOT that cup kind of stuff either...very fluffy light and moist...) and some sort of chocolate cake.

It was very good

the kids meals also came with a corn muffin and applesauce I believe


We loved it there and would not hesitate going again...although I usually do not plan my cs meals...they happen when and if they happen!!

I really liked the old menus at Sunshine Seasons much better. I, however, thought the new menu items looked delicious--they just didn't taste that good. We had the Turkey & Muenster one time, and the Ham & Salami the other, and would not order either one again. Much prefer the Roast Beef & provolone at Electric Umbrella. My new Epcot favorite is the turkey & muenster on a bagel at Liberty Inn. We liked it so much we had to go back for another toward the end of our trip.

My daughter and 5 of her college friends ate here in March. They loved it. She even took photos of the desserts -- they looked scrumptuous. And for a college student to actually take some food photos -- that is a big deal.

I'm looking forward to trying SS in about three weeks.

We ate there for breakfast this past Wednesday. We had a bacon egg and cheese croissant and DH had a Diet Lemonade (I drank water from the room). We thought it was really good, but on the expensive side (we were on the DDP but paid out of pocket for this meal). We were starved and hit this place right after riding Soarin (probably around 9:45) and it was not busy at all.

The food looks great at SS. We didn't have time to fit it in last trip. However, one thing that puts me off is that it always looks so crowded and crazy, especially with the crowds from Soarin. Is it hard to find a seat?

We enjoyed sunshine season on out last trip and plan to return this year. I like that even though there is a menu, you can put things together that are not on the menu. For example they do a rotisserie chicken flatbread and a grilled salmon with mashed potatoes, however i asked if i could have the rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and this was no problem for them and was delicious. I plan to have the same this year or maybe try the salmon. They do some great desserts too.
