We are resurfacing our deck this week with composite... since we decided we also need to replace the railing (with Vinyl) it's costing us much more than expected...

Our deck is south facing, with no shade... so by July it's pretty much unbearable... with us spending so much on the deck I'd like to get more use out of it...

Thinking of getting a Sunsetter Retractable Shade system... anyone have one? Motorized or not? Opinions? Did you install it yourself? Was it fairly easy?
Thanks!

They are always running commercials for these on TV. We too are considering getting one installed. They look nice and easy to use. I just wonder what the cost will end up being.

We have a Sunsetter shade. It is not motorized. I do like it, but it is 18', so it does take 2 of us to open and close it. It really has cut down on the sun coming into our kitchen and we can enjoy the deck in the evening without being directly in the sun. DH had no problem installing it, with the help of a neighbor.

Thanks... anyone in the evening crowd?

Can I ask what you paid for your shade? We have a large deck at our new house and part of it has a pergola and I was thinking it would be nice to have something like the Sunsetter so we could leave our patio furniture out there and not have it get wet.

Bumping to see if anyone has any more information. I keep getting more and more deals through them, latest is they include all of their "optional" items like covers, side panels, cleaning kits, lights and also include a glider, claiming it's over $800 in product for free. But not sure if their actual awings are worth the about $1500 they it would cost.

I am curious about this too. I have a very large deck with a hot tub sitting on one corner. We have thought of enclosing the deck but I would much prefer the awning.

We've had a crank one for about 5 years now and it really increases the time we can spend on our deck. Love it! But, I got all the options, lights, screens, cleaning kit, braces & winter cover but other than one time we never use all that extra stuff.
