I have read many negative reports about the current state of the Sunset Savanna with the Kidani construction going full force. I have an 11 night stay in a 1 br value villa coming up in July. I have requested savanna view.

I know that if we get it, it will be Sunset. I also know that we will be very close to Kidani.

I know that the sections closest to Jambo were the first to go under construction. If we get our request, how bad will the view be? Anyone have any positive reports? (I think I have read some) Should I switch my request to pool view? This is a long stay, our first at AKV, and I want it to be as great as possible.

Thanks for any input!

We had a savanna view for 2 nights in early May and we did not face the construction. Our view was more zoo view with a view of the animal barn. It was still great with a lot of animals around.:cool1:

We just did a 6 night stay in May and I am sorry to say my Savanaha view was a waste of my points. I wish I would have saved points and had a pool view.

Sorry to hear that. But points are not the issue for us. Since we are in a value 1 br, the points would be the same with either a pool parking lot or savanna view. And our savanna request is not, of course, guaranteed. Even if i switch my request to pool, I could still get savanna.

I won't mind seeing the construction, (I can get some great Kidani pics) but I hope to see some animals.

I didn't mind seeing the construction, it was hearing the vehicles backing up at 6am, my quiet cup of coffee on the balcony was very noisy. We saw very few animals. It was a disappointment.

We stayed for 4 nights in May and I have to say that it was noisy. The construction was going on late into the night and early in the morning. We really didn't mind too much, but we didn't spend much time on the balcony. There were a few animals to see. Usually we had the ostrich pair, wildebeast and an occasional giraffe and zebra and the red river hogs. On our last morning there we awoke to 15 animals in the savannah. Why they waited until our last day, I'll never know. All in all, it was a nice visit but I know that it would have been much nicer minus the construction. (On the plus side, we did see the workers add 2 floors to the new structure.) This was our first stay at the AKL so we didn't have another stay to compare this one to.

Had the Sunset Savannah view last week...only saw 3 water buffalo a couple of times, some ostriches and zebras in the distance...way distance.

What can you say, they are working on the resort. The animals were very distant, if any at all. My next stay will be next year, I am sure it will be all finished by then. I have heard that the pool views are better right now. This is not being negative about the resort, our stay was great, it was just everytime we looked outside. I guess you have to decide how much that means to you.
