The sunset safari, or Wanyama Safari, is also available only to concierge guests. DH and I did it just last month while there for our 10th anniversary. We did both that and the sunrise. The Wanyama is fairly new, VERY limited (a max of 8 people) and you must be at least 18 (might be 16). They don't really advertise it, but when I called to book our sunrise safari, they told me about it so I did it. It was FABULOUS! For our safari, we it was just us and two other people!
An animal handler from the lodge takes you out on the lodge savannahs in a van. Another handler drives the van, and the roof raises up high enough for you to stand in the van and see out. You get VERY up close and personal with the animals and learn all kinds of neat stuff from the handlers. We were on the savannahs for an hour and a half, during which you stop in a backstage area near the giraffe barns and have a traditional African snack and drinks. THey also give the giraffes on the other side of the fence a snack and take photos (see my sig below). Then they escort you to Jiko for a dinner with wine pairings. It's included in the price of the safari and you eat as a group with your entire tour group. The menu is preselected by the chefs and features highlights from each course at the restaurant. It was terrific! We'd do it again in a second -- definitely a different, and better, experience than the sunrise safari.
IIRC, it was around $150 for the two of us... well worth every penny.
