I am hoping someone can help me. I asked a similar question a little while ago and it didn't get answered but here it goes.

We really like Sunset Point at the Polynesian but we will have way more than the 18 guests (or less) that are allowed there. We need a place that we can use for a later ceremony. Can you get married on the beach at the Polynesian or Grand Floridian?

Any other ideas ceremony spot ideas for more than 50 guests?

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

I don't know for sure but I have heard people getting married on the beach right there by the GF/WP. Basically I think it is where you have to book the wedding pavillion and go out there for the ceremony.. I'm sure someone else will jump in!!

Yes - that's exactly it. You book the Wedding Pavilion but get married on the beach. Note that you can't see Cinderella Castle from the beach - you see Space Mountain instead.

I know they do receptions on Shipwreck Beach at the Yacht & Beach Club, but I dunno about ceremonies.

There are many ceremony locations that hold more than 50 people. Sea Breeze Point, Italy Isola, Italy Plaza, American Adventure Rotunda, China... off the top of my head....

Does anyone have any pics of shipwreck? That sounds awesome!

Thank you everyone :)

So you can't get married on Polynesian beach? That stinks about Space Mountain in the background. All of the in park ceremonies, like Italy and Morocco have to be at 9 in the morning right?

Sunset point is extremely close to the actual beach at the poly. I guess that is why they won't let you get married there. Sunset point is such a draw for those of us that only had a handful of guests. I think the total count that you can have is 10 people.

What about the pavilion where you can see the castle through the window?

Unfortunately dmslush, my DBF does not like the Pavilion. Originally when we were going to do an Escape we were going to do Sunset Pointe. Now that we are switching to Wishes, we still like it. The thing that really just messes it up is the whole getting married at 9AM for the in park places.

How many people does SBP hold?

It says you can have up to 80 guests at SBP. I am sure that would be a bit cramped. I am have 36 guests and getting married there. Its really a beautiful location. Here is a link with some pics.

HTH!

Thanks everyone again for all of your advice, links, and photos. It really helps in trying to make decisions. I feel like there are so many options and that I don't know half of them! lol

What about a wedding at the Gazebo at the YC then reception at Shipwreck Beach?

I personally think the gazebo is nice but DBF doesn't. The tricky thing is that he likes that idea of a DW but more cuz he knows it is what i have always dreamed of. So I want to make sure we are someplace he really loves. That is why it is so hard. I just wish those darn park ones werent at 9 :(

In my opinion though, your idea is a good one :)

I did read a TR from way back in 2001 of a wishes wedding that was held at Sunset Point for about 50 people:rolleyes1 . I know they don't advertise this as an option but it wouldn't hurt to ask:confused3 . I am planning an escape at SP for 2010 and they do have a strict 10 person limit, but maybe for wishes they would budge. The space is actually quite large and could probably accomodate more people. I think the problem with more people may be that the site is windy and some parts are on a slant (chairs may tip over on hill or blow over in the wind). Maybe if you are open to having your guests stand for the ceremony (it sounds wierd but my friend did this and it actually gave the ceremony a very intimate feel). I have also heard rumors of people having receptions at Tangaroa Terrace at the Poly- it used to be a restaurant but I've heard they still use it for private events. Just some ideas! It is a beautiful site . Here's a pic I took at the site last April shortly after we were engaged. Good Luck!

Polynesianbride--Thank you so much! This is just the news I was hoping for lol. I guess it never hurts to ask when you start your official planning with Disney. It is good to know someone else has done it. Congratulations on your engagement :) The site is beautiful and that is a great and very helpful picture.

Polynesianbride--Thank you again:hug: I am going to read through that TR. I am not getting married for at least 2 years so I don't think I can call Disney right? Or can I just call and ask them about it? I am getting very excited about this :goodvibes I hope they let us do it.

Anyone know if I could give them a call and ask a few questions?? :)

I think you should. We contacted Disney 2 years before our wedding. We explained we did not know what sites we wanted and wanted to do a site visit and talk to a sales manager.

Pixie08--Were you able to do a site visit that far out? We are going in Jan. it would be great to be able to see all these places and talk to someone there.
