I know weather can be crazy in Dec but do you think sunscreen is needed for my kids if it's not super hot like 90s? I typically put it on them in the summer when it's hot but I'm not an overly sunscreen applier like some parents. My kids aren't super fair skinned either.

During December it can go either way, cold or hot. I would bring it but you can check the weather before you go and see the weather outlook. I was there Dec 17-24, and it was 80 everyday. We went swimming almost everyday. I would lighty spray them. If your gonna go for a quick dip then I wouldn't bother. Again you won't know till the week before you leave. Enjoy, I loved the temp. on that vacation compared to NJ!

You should put sun screen on year round if you plan on spending time outside. I would recommend getting an SPF 15. This time of year a lot of it should be on clearance sales at target and Walmart if you live in the northern states.

Remember although its December you will most likely be outside in the sun for 8 hours or so.

Ummm - yes! Florida isn't the Sunshine State for nothing!! I wear sunscreen all year long. Avenno makes a nice one that isn't too "sunscreeny" and Alba botanicals also makes a nice "green tea" smelling one. I like California baby for baby or Neutrogenia Baby.

you are under the impression that you cannot get burned in the winter.
if the sun is shining you can get tan/burned.
if your skin is exposed you can get tan/burned (even if its only 30 degrees out cuz the temp does not matter!)
i always put sunscreen on no matter what time of year i go.
obviously if it happens to be chilly enough to wear pants and a sweatshirt i will only sunscreen my face and neck as clothing protects your skin from the sun.

Personally, we have visited in Dec, Jan and Feb. We have not felt the need to apply sunscreen in Dec or Jan unless we were swimming. In Feb we needed it.

Sunscreen no matter what time of year it is. It protects your skin from more than being burned. You need it every day, not just when it is hot outside.

The sun in florida is intense even when it is cool out. Clouds don't really stop UV rays either so please be smart and use sunscreen.

Sunscreen should be applied every day of the year and its purpose has nothing to do with how hot it is outside.
