Can anyone recommend a sunscreen for the part in my hair? I've tried using a few different kinds but they seem to make my hair really stiff and greasy looking. I hate wearing a hat, they tend to give me headaches. Any suggestions? TIA!

I haven't found a sunscreen for that either. Have you tried wearing a buff? They have them in wick fabric with spf.

I use the Banana Boat clear sport spray (no rub kind) that comes in an orange bottle for my daughter. I have not noticed that it left her hair greasy or stiff.

Our Wal Marts has a little dab on tube called 'Ocean Potion Dab-On Sports Stick' with an spf of 60, that I use every trip. It's a watery liquid with a little sponge top dabber thingy on top in a yellow/orange canister with a blue top and is only about 1 1/2" around and 4" long. I've never noticed it causing my hair to feel different. I just went and got the one I'm taking for my trip in a few days and the ingredients are: Avobenzone, Homosalate, Octisalate, Oxybenzone, denatured alcohol, Acrylates/Octylacrylamid Coplymer, and Glycerin if that helps any:confused3 .

A lot of people on here mentioned a while ago about using baby sunblock (in a pink tube). It is a stick and it supposedly isn't greasy. I bought one, but never used it.

I went to Walmart this morning and the only thing I found was a Banana Boat skin/scalp sunscreen. It's in a small orange bottle, I guess it's the one that was referenced above. The salon that carries Paul Mitchell products had never heard of one with an SPF, and I scoured the hair products and skin products and this was the only one I could find. Hopefully, it works! Thanks everyone.

I haven't seen that kind before. I'll have to check WalMart this weekend. The one I mentioned above was just a regular old bottle of Banana Boat spray sunscreen. It's great to know you found a scalp sunscreen! Was it in the area with the regular sunscreens (ours is in the middle of the large aisle)? TIA!

I found this in the sunscreen aisle at our walmart. It's a 6 oz bottle, plastic orange bottle with a blue top. It's called Quik dri Sport Body & Scalp. The bottle is an orange plastic that's see through, the liquid inside looks like water. I haven't tried it yet, am hoping it does the trick. We're leaving Sat morning so I won't be able to let you know until we get back.

Thanks everyone for all of your help!

I found mine today at walmart with all other sunscreens in middle asile. It has a pump top and is see thru orange.

I am so glad I found this thread! I'm in the same boat, have light blond hair and can't wear a hat as it also gives me a headache. So, every summer it seems like I have a permanent sunburn where my part is....I had no idea you could get scalp suncreen! I'm heading to Walmart to try to find some here too! Thanks :thumbsup2

Went to WM this a.m. and this is the same kind I have. They must have updated the packaging since I purchased it last. I have always used this type of Banana Boat in both mine and my daughter's hair with no problems. It also works great for ears, tops of feet, and generally all sunscreen needs. I :lovestruc it because it does not require any rubbing in, covers well, and works GREAT! I hope everyone finds it as helpful as we have.

I bought the sunscreen for the scalp last week at Wal-Mart but haven't tried it yet....the item I couldn't find was body glide that you rub on your feet to prevent blisters...I even ask a clerk and she said she had never heard of it..

I don't remember the name of the stuff I used but it gave the "oily" look too. I bet there isn't much getting around that one.:headache:

You can purchase the Body Glide at several stores online as well as sporting goods stores.

FYI
I was at Toy R Us today and in the baby section there was a new scalp sunscreen spray. It was in a pink bottle, I believe it was Banana Boat. Sorry, can't remember the SPF but It was probably 45-50 like most baby sunscreens. I know it's not for adults per say but I imagine it should work.

Note re: bodyglide -
I found it at our local Running Room , so try more specialty athletic/running stores and you might have more luck.:confused3

You can use a small amount of baby powder (just enough so your hair doesnt look white :rotfl:) to get rid of the oilyness :goodvibes
