Sunscreen for babies?

We used the Aveeno sunscreen for my son. Granted, we talked to the pediatrician and we tested him with it (both in and out of the sun) before we went. See what your ped says first...but I would not go without something, even at that young age.

If you're worried about sunscreen, there are lots of ways to protect them with minimal sunscreen:

I purchased one for my DS years and years ago and got 2 seasons out of it for him and one for my DD. You only have to put sunscreen on their face if necessary.

I also carried my 8mo DD around WDW in a homemade Solarviel sling. There are plenty of people selling them on the internet. I also make my kids wear big, floppy hats that protect their scalps and necks.

We have used the Water Babies Spectrum and the Aveeno Baby sunscreen. We have been pleased with both. I use the Aveeno on my infant sun and try to cover him up as much as possible. I use the Spectrum on the older kids when at the beach. When everyone else burned even after using SPF45 (on the beach several hours in OBX in Aug) none of us burned using the Spectrum. It really did protect like they advertise.

Also, my ped recommends sunscreen as early as 6 weeks old when we went on vacation. He said to cover up as much as possible but that sunscreen was important for protecting against sun glare.
