Everyone on this board is so great about posting great finds for their WDW trips, so now it is my turn to share. I only recently began visiting my local Dollar Tree store and they do have a lot of nice things...and yes...everything is a dollar! Anyway Dollar Tree now has Sea and Ski Suncreen and I loaded up on it. You know how expensive sunscreen is, and just how much you need when you go to WDW!!! So, run to your local Dollar Tree and stock up like I did. They have SPF 50 for kids, SPF 50 for babies, SPF 50 for faces (with no oil), and SPF 4.

You beat me to the post! I just got four today and think I will go back and get more. I saw the same ones in the drug store for $8 and up...Great deal if you ask me.

I got some too. I think I'll go back and get more this weekend for our trip in October.

Thanks for the great tip.

My current bottle is going to be 3 years old  .

TIme to replace :D

A word of caution. Check and see if there is an expiration date on the bottles. I bought some cheapie sunscreen at Big Lots and learned the hard way that it can lose its effectiveness after a year or two.

My Dd who I have kept slathered in SunBlock since Birth got a really bad burn from a year old tube of Sunblock. Now at the end of summer that years SunBlock gets thrown out!!

No more burns for us!! And a better chance not to get skin cancer!

One can only speculate as to how these type stores get their cheap merchandise. My assumption would be that they are overstocks or something along those lines so it's easy to assume that they are from last season. My dermatologist told me to buy new sunscreen every season and throw the old stuff away, that it can loose it's effectiveness in one year. I buy the stuff called NO-AD its half the price of the big names and it seems to work better than some of those big brands.

I am cautious of old sunscreen also. I have found a good buy at Eckerd's Drug Stores...they usually run a 50% coupon on Eckerd brand products. They usually limit you to 4 items and I buy Eckerd brand sunscreen at 50% off the already "lower than name brand" price.

Pretty good deal to me!

Also stocked up on the SPF 50's - also found something by Coppertone called Sunsceen/block for Anglers - it's SPF 30 - comes in a tube - like a larger chapstick container. Great little item to keep in my purse - as long as I don't mistake it for the chapstick.

I was just there today, and didnt see sunscreen! I guess I'll have to go back...did get all my crayons, stickers and mini puzzle books for the plane ride though. Also, found mickey mouse t shirts for the kids at target for 8.99....yay me.

also picked up a ton of ziploc bags of different sizes. This packing stuff is almost as much fun as going.

27 Days WDW!!!:Pinkbounc

I was told by a dematologist that sunscreen loose's it protection and to always replace very year. I think discount stores only sell the old stuff, out dated candy too.

I have to disagree. I generally go to our Dollar Tree about once or twice a month. I've gotten brand new Hanes 3 packs boys Character underwear there for $1. The same thing was selling in the department stores for $6.99. Bought tons of it and made some extra money on Ebay. I've also bought name brand Halloween candy (Snickers, Reese's, etc.) at $1 when it's $2.99 in the stores. And no, it's not old. A lot of the times the Dollar Trees are able to do store buyouts in lots - when a store goes out of business they take everything that's left. My Dollar Tree always has Herr's snacks at $1 that are $1.49 or more at the store. And the date is right on them - often better than what's at the Grocery store. I'm not one to buy outdated food. Many people are surprised at what they can get at the dollar store - Dollar Trees are the best.

It is true that stores like Big Lots & Dollar Tree buy stuff that is discontinued by the manufacturer, or is close to date in shelf life. As do ALL retailers. Anything that would have a code date, make sure you check for an experation date. If it is a tube of sunscreen, the date might be embossed on the very top of the tube (opposite of where the lotion is dispensed.
Also some companies use what is called a 'julien' code where it is deciferable (sp?) only by them. If you find a code that is a bunch of numbers, maybe letters, than here is a general rule to follow: The first number will be the year it was produced, then the following three numbers will be the day of that year it was produced. Example: 2134xx9921 would be produced in 2002(hence if it was produced in 1999, the first number would be 9) and it was produced on the 134th day of 2002. The other numbers and letters would reflect what plant it was produced at, what line, etc.

Hope this helps somebody

Well Kimkimba, we will agree to disagree when it comes to candy and sunscreen at dollar tree.

Do you think they paid more than $1.00 for these items? I use to work for Nestles and I can tell you outdated Nestles products (candy) are sold at dollar stores. The public would need to know the date code used by the company, and each has it's own way of dating items that have nothing to do with month/day/year as we know it. As far as sunscreen goes, get educated!

I used some from last year and my daughter got a burn. I checked all of my bottles and none have an expiration date so I guess I should buy new.
