It does take the same path as the ride - without the storyline; and since this safari is before the park is officially open, they take their time and make frequent stops for pictures. The guides are very informative and also answer any questions.
Last safari (several weeks ago) we got to see a Pelican feeding - which is something they do early in the morning. Let me just say, my DD14 thought that was the greatest thing!!!

(you had to see it to believe it!) Also, the Okapi were right down by the road so we were literally feet away from them - they're usually up the hill by the fence or hiding in the brush.
