I have 2 questions regarding the Sunrise Safari:

1. How many people are accomodated on the Sunrise Safari?

2. If we were to check out on Thursday would we still be eligible for the Sunrise Safari?

We are going for 8nts in Oct and thinking of doing 4nts AKV-C and 4nts AKV-SV since I want both a savanah view and the perks/safari from concierge (I know concierge does have SV rooms but they are just a request and do not offer the best views according to what I've read online). We already have the AKV-C booked but need to wait until 7months to use some of our SSR points for the rest.

As long as your Concierge stay includes a Thursday, you can do it. We are checking out of concierge on Thursday and our sunrise Safari is Thursday morning.

Is the Sunrise safari only offered to AKV Concierge guests or can anyone sign up?

It's only offered to AK Concierge Level I believe.

Does anyone know what time you have to be there? 5am?6am?7am??

Here is the word that I got from Don, the AK concierge on that.

An invitation will be sent to your room the evening prior with meeting time. Please arrive in Kilimanjaro Club lounge 15 minutes before activity. Breakfast buffet after the Safari.

My schedule says that we meet at 7 am. I have also heard earlier times.

When we went on the Sunrise Safari, we had to meet in the Concierge Lounge at 6 or 6:30AM.

If you plan on staying in the AKV Concierge in Oct, you'd better check with MS immediately. You may be too late.

??????????????????

I thought reservations didn't open until 180 days same as dining. Do they take reservations before that?

Whatever time the sun rises;) :goodvibes

In late December, we had to be there at 5:45 a.m.

We had enough people for 2 Disney Transport busses. I would say around 50 or 60.

If you are staying AKV or AKL Concierge it is at 180 to 190 days. I contacted Don at Concierge within the 190 days and told him that I wanted to book both Safari's. He did the rest. :thumbsup2

No, you call or email Concierge at AKL. I will have to look the number or email address up for you. Don is the person that you want to talk to.

The email is wdw.aklodge.concierge@disney.com You need to include you reservation number, name dates you are staying, your phone number, what you are interested in doing. If you don't hear back from them in a day, email again, they were having server problems the first day I contacted them.

I believe the IPO has a new email now, so if that email address doesn't work, try the one I've recently started using: animal.kingdom.lodge.itinerary.planning@disneyworld.com

(In mid-December, IPO told me "the company was supposed to send out a mass message informing guests of the new address...." They must have changed their minds!!)

Thanks for the new address. I did not receive it. I copied the one I posted off of the last email that they sent me.:goodvibes

Glad to help! :) I don't know if emails sent to the old address are bouncing back to senders or not :confused3 but I do know you'll get the usual prompt response from IPO using the new address! :thumbsup2

I just emailed DON and he answered my questions about our stay in July and about the Safari. Below I am posting what DON emailed me in answer to my questions about room size and the Safari's offered. This should answer most Safari questions and the room size for the 1 BR Concierge:

The 1 BR villas are about 750 sq ft I believe. They were made from two rooms of about 381 sq feet but some was lost in the redesign.

Look forward to assisting you with your plans.

We offer the Sunrise Safari on Sunday and Thursday mornings. Complete
details of all safaris will follow. We will be glad to book all of your
dining for the AKV club level portion of your visit.

Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure is exclusive to concierge guests
staying at our resort. It is offered on Thursdays and Sundays. The
safari starts at 6:30 A.M. if the park opens at 8 A.M. & it starts at
7:30 A.M. if the park opens at 9 A.M..

You would meet in the concierge lounge at 6:15 A.M. or 6:45 A.M.,
depending on park hours & will check-in at the concierge desk. The

Overlook to give a run down of the morning's activities. You will then
take a private bus, which will go through some of the backstage areas at
Disney's Animal Kingdom.

the first jeep onto the savanna. You will be able to ask the animal
programs cast member questions and there will be frequent stops for you
to take pictures. The safari will last from 45 minutes to 1 hour long.
Afterwards you will have a delicious breakfast buffet that awaits you.
While you are enjoying your breakfast, there will be cultural
representatives from Africa to answer any questions you have about their

The Wildlife Discover Excursion takes the Kilimanjaro safari experience
to the next level. Disney's Animal Kingdom invites you to venture off
the beaten path of the Harambe Wildlife Reserve for a unique animal

Let me just take a moment to touch base with you about our check in
procedure. If you arrive by car at the hotel you will stop at the
security kiosk. Let them know you are a Kilimanjaro Club concierge level
guest. Once you have parked your car or had valet park it go to bell
services just inside the lobby to your left. If you arrive by Disney's
Magical Express you will need to enter the lobby and turn left to the
Bell Services desk and they will assist you. Should your room be
prepared at this time, the bellman will take you directly up to your
room and you can come by the concierge lounge at your leisure to check
in. However if the room has not been prepared yet, the bellman will put
your luggage in storage and a cast member will take you directly up to
our concierge lounge. Either way, there will be no need for you to wait
in line at the front desk. If you are arriving after 10:00 p.m. please
be sure to stop by the Kilimanjaro Club desk in the morning before you
head out so we can make sure we have your reservation in order regarding
charging privileges and tickets.
