Sunrise Safari???

Thanks for the Info. I have always wanted to do both of the Safari's. I am marking my calander for the call. :thumbsup2

I've been wanting to ask about GV at AKV. I assume that there will not be any that are concierge level, since they are not listed on the point chart. We added on 150 AKV points just so we can take our whole family there. We thought that our grand kids would love it. We will need a GV, but would love to participate in these safaris. I'm guessing we're just out of luck.
When the AKV point charts came out back in February, there was some discussion here about GVs and Concierge. At the time, someone reported that they called to ask about whether GVs would have access to Concierge and were told "no".

Based on what we've heard, Concierge is limited to five 2BR lockoffs on the 6th floor of Jambo House.

ETA: You can still try to book the Sunset Safari. It is open to anyone staying at AKL/AKV, not just concierge guests. The price is higher for non-concierge guests, however ($210 vs $160 for guests age 10 and up).

Eva;

I was struck by the lack of access for the GV guests as well while browsing the DVC literature I was sent by DVD.

I suppose a GV guest could also make a single night ressie for up to 4 in a studio on the Concierge level to get access to the special safaris. :rolleyes1
As long as you aren't going when I am I think that's a great idea :rotfl2: However absolutely no one shoudl try that when I am going since I need all the special safari space I can get

FYI, I was told by MS that the Sunrise Safari can be booked 90 days out and the Sunset Safari can be booked 180 days out. This seems to contradict info I received from AKL concierge the other day. The AKL rep said nothing about 90 days and did say that if one called 180 days out from the START of ones vacation, that they'd probably go ahead and book both if you wanted that, of course. I am calling 180 days out from the start of my vacation, definitely not 90 days out. Anybody else have info on this?

See, I was told 90 days also this morning when I changed my ressie to Concierge level. I am going to call 180 days ahead though for that Sunset one, and hopefully I can book sunrise at the same time.

I'm pretty sure I've stated in several threads that I have a confirmed reservation for the Sunset Safari for December 1 which I got from concierge (NOT ms) at 180 days out.

I would go with what you've been told by AKL concierge since they are the ones who control these things, not MS.

I have a call into Itinerary Planning right now :).

I just wanted to say that I used points to stay at AKL concierge in 2005 for just one night, so I could take the sunset safari. 49 points, yikes! but it was definately worth it. There were only 4 people on the van and it was an incredible experience. I thought it was too expensive beforehand, but found it to be a great value afterwords. I'd love to do it again sometime.

I didn't have any trouble booking through concierge, but it was late January. Don't remember how far out I made the reservation.
