I've never paid much attention to the Safari activities as we've never stayed at AKL. In May we're taking an anniversary trip to HHI and staying at AKL for 2 nights before we head to HHI. Is there a special Safari we can book? It looks like the Sunrise Safari is only available if you have concierge. Is that true? We didn't book Concierge as it was sold out for our dates. Is there another option at the end of the day? Or other activity? I would love to surprise DH with something special for our time at AKL.

Also, we stayed at HHI several years ago for another Anniversary and had Chef Gordon's special dinner. I know that is not available any more (darn!). Is there any other activity that would be nice for two people on an Anniversary trip (no kids along)?

Any input or other suggestions are welcome.

I have not gone on one of the safaris yet but we will be booking the Sunrise safari for our August trip. I know that both safaris are available to book for Concierge level guests (either AKV or AKL guests). There is a cost per person to go on the safaris. I believe to book the Sunset safari the guest must be a minimum age (I think 9 or older - ?). I thought I read somewhere that non-concierge guests can book the Sunset (?) safari but the price per person is higher. That would also be assuming that there were spots available that weren't booked by CL guests.

I'm sure someone who knows more about this will be along to answer your questions :goodvibes

The sunset safari is $160 pp for concierge guests, $210 pp for non-concierge guests. I'm sorry, but I don't know the minimum age.
All I can think of at HHI for celebrating an anniversary is to go out for a nice dinner-Old Fort Pub comes to mind. I agree that Chef Gordon's Private Affair was the best! We also did it a few years ago-

I know that whenever we go to HHI, I watch the resort channel and I just love when they announce the celebrations of different people. I always think how great it would be to see our names, but we never go at a celebration time. So be sure to tell them that it's your anniversary when you check in (I'm assuming that's how you get your celebration televised).

The sunrise safari is only available to concierge guests. You can book the sunset (Wanyama) safari at a higher fee for non concierge guests.

The only "special" safari available to you at AKV if you are not staying Concierge is the Wanyama or "sunse" safari. It includes a tour of the safaris within AKL with a very small group of people (I think it's under 20), and includes a 6 course Jiko meal afterwards, including wine. It's a bit pricey if you are not in Concierge (I believe $210 per person), and I believe it is limited to ages 10 and over. Not sure about that last part. It might actually be 12 and up. We did it last year when we were in concierge, and it was MARVELOUS!!! We plan to do it again, but will wait until we are staying concierge again for the big price break.
