I'm trying to do some planning for the big June surprise trip. I'd like to stay AK concierge for at least a few days of the trip. From what I understand the Sunrise Safari is available on Saturday and Tuesday. Tuesday we fly back, but the flight doesn't leave Orlando until Noon, so I'm sure we'd have time to do this. The question is , do I need to pay separate park admission for this event? We'd only be doing the Safari and breakfast and then heading to the airport. It wouldn't really matter except we are using our AP's for the trip and they expire on the 30th of June and Tuesday falls on the first of July. We'd just have to do the Saturday Safari if we need to pay for park admission as well.

Yes, you do need admission to the park for the Sunrise Safari. I believe they collect your tickets before you leave AKL and give them back to you once you're in AK.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to plan to do the Saturday one, or pay for four one day passes.

Yes it does require park admission.
After all, it ends with a big breakfast at (I believe) Tusker House, after which you are turned loose in the park!

You *can* do it on your checkout date. I asked about that once.

Just wondering, how much is the Sunrise Safari?

The cost is $39.95 (includes buffet breakfast at Tusker House after the safari).

:)

Thanks for all the info. I guess I have to adjust the planning so that I can include it on Saturday rather than Tuesday (My AP will expire on Monday) and with a flight that leaves at Noon, I really doubt that four of us would get any value from paying $200 for admission media we would not use. I think the surprise element of this trip might lose some magic if concierge and the Sunrise Safari were left out.
Sally:)

You're better off doing it on Saturday even if park passes were not an issue. When we did it in May, it was late getting started. Got on the tour bus almost 8:00 am. We didn't get to the Tusker house until almost 9:30, and it was almost 10:30 when we left the Tusker house.

We made ressie for our trip on Dec. 24th and the price is now $49.99 per person age 10 and up. I have wondered myself if it would be worth $250.00. I guess we will see. Correct me if I'm wrong on the price.

WOW! Do you think it was raised just for the holidays? Considering it started out closer to $20, the price has really gone up!

We were able to make ressie's back in Sept. and the price was almost 50.00 when we made them. I think they saw how well it went over and they wanted to make the most of it.

I just verified the pricing. It is $49.95 for guests 12 and up and $24.95 for guests 3-11. The pricing must have gone up sometime this summer.

Jeepers! They may have outpriced me now! I don't know if I can justify the extra expense of Concierge for the "priviledge" of the safari which also adds so much more of an expense to my trip. I'm really going to have to think this trough one more time. DH is going to be certain I have lost my mind!

I came up against that same problem: $200 extra for two nights concierge plus $150 admission (2 adults, 2 children), PLUS using park admissions on a day when we hadn't planned to hang around. Adding insult to injury was the fact that AKL Concierge can't guarantee a Savannah View room. So we decided to settle for Savannah View rooms and postpone Sunrise Safari to the indefinite future.
