Am thinking about booking one day at the start of our January trip @ AKL Concierge to take advantage of one of these tours. Which did other board-members do? What were the highlights? Drawbacks? THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR INPUT.

Now that you have a concierge room
You want to do more than just scrounge
There’s more amenities besides the lounge

How do you choose between safaris?
One goes for almost twice the price
Is the less costly one just as nice?

Do you want dinner with a jeep tour
Do you want breakfast in the park
Would you prefer a tour when light or dark?

Sunrise, Sunset
Sunrise, Sunset
Which one should you choose?
One has unlimited eggs and juice
One has access to wine and booze.

I know it isn't that helpful but it was fun writing it.

WE HAVE DONE BOTH AND ENJOYED BOTH. THE SUNRISE HAS A WONDERFUL BRUNCH AFTER THE SAFARI. THE SUNSET BRINGS YOU SO CLOSE TO THE ANIMALS AND THEN THE DINNER AT JIKO IS VERY GOOD. I GUESS I PREFER THE SUNSET. EITHER ONE IS WORTH THE COST.

:wave2: We just did both in June and enjoyed each equally. The sunrise one you get to see the animals on the safari, as with the sunset you get to see the animals around the lodge. You actually get up closer to the animals on the sunset safari, but of course there are not as many different ones to see. With the sunrise safari you get to have brunch at Tusker House and it was excellent. With the Sunset safair after the safari you go and have an Africian Treat with one of the African CM's. then you go to Jinko's for a pre-set menu, dinner. At the end of the dinner they present you with a menu with your name on it.

I hope this helps you a little :cheer2:

My DH and I also enjoyed both safaris. If I had young children, I would vote for the sunrise safari.

We really loved the sunset safari. The dinner at Jiko was one of the best meals we have ever had at WDW. We liked the whole experience of the sunset safari.

A big decision -- I was afraid I would blow it.
Who'da thunk I'd get some rhymes from a poet?
Sunrise it will be.
Some critters, we'll see.
You've all been a help, don'tcha know it?

Do you have to stay at the AKL or on-site resort to go on the safari?

Yes.You must stay Conicerge Level at the AkL to go on either one of these tours.

We have done both...twice...and I'll be honest - I enjoy the Sunset Safari more.

Why?
You are MUCH closer to the animals.
You get ALOT of information about the animals.
The tour is VERY small.
No kids under 12. (so no baby screaming while you are trying to hear the guide like during the Sunrise...sorry...I don't mean to offend anyone - but it's happened to me.)
The meal at Jiko is out of this world. So much to try...and so much better then a breakfast.

And you get a very cool "gift" when you take the Wanyama (Sunset) Safari. Won't tell you what we've received in the past - but they have both been very cool.
