So flights are booked and its villa search time! I have found a lovely looking villa in Sunridge Woods which is in our budget and seems to meet all criteria but I cant find much feedback on the area, owner says 15 minutes/9 miles from Disney parks, does anyone have any feedback? thanks

I am presuming since no-one has replied that no-one else is familiar with it, it says off of highway 54, davenport....the other alternative is Hampton lakes, its like looking for a needle in a haystack when you don't know the areas!

I did find a thread before which gave details of each of the areas but now I cant find it :-(

When are you going?

We've booked our villa via here, I just asked for Villa recommendations and we got a discount for saying we found them via the DIS, I don't know if you are on the DIBB but they have villa pages on there

We are staying on HW 27 which is 15 mins away

Good luck :thumbsup2

Sorry, I thought I'd replied yesterday but must have decided against it for some reason because I know I started typing!

It looks fine as a location, I've not stayed there but have driven around a lot as we've always been villa people. I think 15 minutes is optimistic but not wildly out. I'd be inclined to expect 25 minutes realistically between stop signs, traffic and getting on and off the I4 if you go that way.

This site is great for locating communities if you haven't seen it before http://www.orlandovillas.com/map.aspx

We've stayed in the communities at the top of old lake wilson road, so follow up from Sunridge Woods up Sth Old Lake Wilson to North Old Lake Wilson Road and the villas along Livingston Road are the closest to Disney and were we would prefer to stay every time if possible. (zoom in a bit to see the roads)

Hampton Lakes is in that region where you've got to either go up US27 and across US192 or down US27 and up the I4. For my 2p I'd find Hampton Lakes too tiring to do more than one thing per day, whereas the closer villa communities, we think nothing of popping back home to change, swim and go out later to another part or DTD.

Hope that helps.

What sort of price range and space are you looking for?

Hi thanks for the reply, that link is very helpful. We are going out June 26th 2014 for 3 weeks, there are 2 adults and 3 children, so looking for a 3 bedroom as the boys will want to share. The youngest will only be 3 so I do like the idea of being able to pop back to the villa for a chill out at some point in the day. Looking at prices around £500 a week. I'm open to suggestions :thumbsup2

I've sent you a message with the villa we are booked into, it's a 4 bed but still under £500 per week, don't know if they will have space, but you can always ask. Paul is great and has been very accommodating as we have changed our dates now we've booked the flights :)

We tend to use vrbo and using the map click on Florida, then Central Orlando, then Kissimmee in the list that comes up then back to the map for west or central west. Far West can start bringin up some of the longer drives again.

My list would be
Formosa Garden & Windsor Hills (while top of the list, I've never stayed there as always too much for us! They look the nicest though)
Windsor Palms & Indian Creek
Rolling Hills (plus any others around livingston road)

We've stayed in Windsor Palms and it was really nice, gated and manned 24/7 so felt nice and safe and welcoming although does add a little to the journey as it's the furthest of the communities and you have to wait for the gate etc.

Rolling Hills we've stayed at twice, it's the cheapest in that area (you can definitely get lower than 500 per week, we did 350 per week for a 4 bed there) and is a matter of seconds to Formosa and Windsor which are twice plus the price. What you'll get though is an older villa, no gate or security and a mix of residential and rental which does change the feel of it. However, as a cheap alternative to a hotel and so close to Disney it's a good option.

Finally, use your 3 weeks as a bargaining chip, this saves the owner a lot of money in cleaning fees and your small family will also get a discount in a lot of cases. Be up front in asking if there are any discounts for long stays and or small parties. For the owner, this means fewer days empty, fewer cleans and less wear and tear.

Fantastic advice, thank you very much...can see a busy evening ahead!

Victoria thanks for your pm too, will take a look at that one too. :cool1:
