I just ordered a Sunpass Mini online. You set up your account when you order. It states that it will arrive at your address within 3-5 business days. There were no shipping charges.

Keep in mind that the Mini must be affixed (glued) to the windshield of your vehicle for it to operate properly. That makes it perfect for your personal vehicle that you drive in Florida. For those who want to have a SunPass unit in their rental vehicle (and of course in a different vehicle each visit), you need the regular portable SunPass.

So once you stick it on it wont come off?

It won't come off without destroying the Sun Pass Mini - that is why we got the regular one when we were in Florida in January. Hubby hates having to wait in toll booth lines.

I know that they say it will only work on glass windshields, it will not work on plastic such as motorcycles. Not sure if it will work if it is taped to the windshield - I wonder if the covering over the sticky side that affixes it to the windshield would not allow it work.

They claim the sticker uses the windshield as an antenna. They claim it won't work unless it's permanently attached.

Not sure what you gain by using scotch tape. The 4.99 of free tolls expires after 30 days. I think any tolls (over the 4.99) can be refunded.

Now if it doesn't work you'll get a bill for the toll you didn't pay plus an administrative charge from your rental company.

Scotch tape would make it easy to reload and reuse as needed, take on vacation to use in rental cars, without needing a scraper to remove it.
If it won't work without exposing the adhesive, it's not worth buying.

How big/heavy is the regular Sun Pass box? Similar to a GPS unit?

It is about the size of a GPS perhaps a little smaller, though it is very light in wieght.

I don't know what kind of adhesive the mini has on it. If it is that gummy stuff it won't be easy to remove and could leave adhesive behind. You may need a straight razor blade to get it off. I am sure the adhesive backing would prevent it from working if just taped to the windshield.

Though I am sure if they are offering it online, then they are targeting the out of state traveler. Though many people travel down in their own cars, not sure if they are targeting the rental car user.

Rental car users and others that are going to use it in multiple vehicles really need the regular SunPass or E-PASS unit. It sticks to the windshield using suction cups or velcro. The "mini" is designed to be affixed into one vehicle for long term use.

Does a SunPass work on the booths that say E-Pass, or are they two different systems?

The mini/decal does come with $4.99 worth of toll credit on it, so it is "sorta/kinda" free? After that, can it be recharged just like the regular SunPass? If you replace your car, can any remaining balance be transferred to a new SunPass?
