SunPass? Is That Right ? ? Should I get it when I rent through Enterprise

Note that rental cars all use "toll-by-plate" and do not have Sunpass sensors. If you buy your own and put it in your rental car then that will take precedence over toll-by-plate when you go through express lanes.

When you purchased the SunPass did you do so while in Florida or did you purchase before you arrived. I'm thinking of doing the same thing myself, but they seem to want a license plate number to purchase online first, and obviously I won't have that information.

I purchased one ahead of time through the Sunpass website. My recollection is that I put my personal car's plate number into the "license plate" field, even though I didn't plan to drive down this time. I added the rental car's plate number to my Sunpass account shortly after exiting the MCO garage. (Very weak data signal inside the garage, so couldn't do it in there.) There is an Apple app that you can download for this purpose. There doesn't appear to be an official Android app for Sunpass, though I noticed that the main Sunpass website has a "Mobile" section which I guess works out about the same.

I bought before traveling to FL and just put my personal car info in there. once I get rental info I just go in and add that to acct and there is box to check if rental and you can put in when to start/stop that plate/car on your acct.

yep - that's exactly what I'd do. Note that with the functioning transponder in the rental, having the rental's tag on your account is a safety net. As long as the system 'sees' a transponder, it is happy.

actually SOME rentals do still have physical SUNPASS in a metal box ... but I suspect they are being phased out. With these keeping the box closed effectively turns off the installed SUNPASS so yours will work without conflict.
