Two semi-related questions.

I need some clarification about Sunpass. After reading all kinds of info about it which makes it seem super complex, I think I have it down to a simplified version. Can someone confirm my understanding is correct? If I order a portable transponder, then when I get my rental car, I can say no to their Sunpass coverage, add the car license number to my account on the app, and add $ to my account and should be good to go? It says that SUNPASS, EPASS and LEEWAY only lanes are available right away, everything else the next day by 6am.

Second, we are staying at Windsor Hills - looks like the most direct route is south out of the airport to the 417. Exit at Celebration Ave, north to 192, then left and follow along to Windsor Hills? Are their tolls on this route? And if so, are they SUNPASS/EPASS and thus should be covered by using my transponder?

This is the first time I'll be driving other than one day on our honeymoon 14 years ago that we rented a car and went to Universal Citywalk for the day. Otherwise we've always done Magical Express and Disney Transportation and stayed on site. Just trying to make sure I have everything covered off.

When adding a rental car to your SunPass account, I believe you have two days to do so. So if for some reason your transponder doesn't register, they will use the plate to match it up to your SunPass account. I would actually add money to your account before you travel, not sure if that is what the next day at 6am is about. If it is, adding it ahead of your trip will mean it will be available once you arrive.

When you arrive, just put the transponder in your vehicle. I believe all of the rental agencies use a form of Plate Pass in Florida. So your transponder will over ride that when it registers. If it doesn't, they first look for registered vehicles to a SunPass account. If still no match, then the plate pass will match it to the rental agency who would bill you.

417 is a toll road, so you will pay tolls along the way and upon exit. 417 is part of the Central Florida Expressway Authority. Check out their toll calculator. I suspect you will be getting on at the Boggy Creek ramp? From there to your exit at Celebration Ave, the toll looks to be $3.26. There should be no other tolls after you exit 417.
