Hope everyone is having a super weekend!

Here we go:

Pierre stopped at his favorite wine shop to buy a bottle of Sauternes for the Bastille Day celebration.
He spent half of what he had plus $2.00 for a very special bottle of Chateau d'Yquem.
Then he spent half of what he had plus $3.00 for a small tin of foie gras.
Then he stopped at his favorite bakery and bought brioches to spread the foie gras on, and spent half of what he had left, plus $4.00.
At that point, he had $2.00 left, with which he bought a small bottle of digestive medicine, just in case.
How much did he have to begin with?

What's a Jack & Jill

A Jack and Jill is like a bridal shower only everyone is invited, men and women. Usually it is held in a hall, with games and alcohol and food. It is also sometimes called a Stag and Doe party.

I don't know about Jack and Jill, but Stag and Doe, you pay to attend and pay for your own alcohol and usually to play the games, too. They are used to make money for the couple getting married.

It almost seems like a wedding celebration to me, so I don't quite understand why they are held.
