So...
just curious...
I wear some very pretty almost clear sunglasses that you can see my eyes when I am talking to you -
NOT those jet black 80's ones...

and sometimes I walk into stores and don't take them off right away or whatever...

but it got me thinking -

what is proper etiquette??

In buildings??

In Pictures??

During conversations on the street??

If I'm outside, I have sunglasses on. My eyes are very sensitive to the sun. My sunglasses have a brown tint and they're not that dark.

When I go inside, I take them off. For pictures (if you can get me to sit still to take one!), I take them off. Outside -- unless it's cloudy/overcast, they stay on.

If I am talking to someone outside, I usually will take my sunglasses off (unless it's like DH and we are walking around WDW).

I do wear sunglasses in some pictures taken outside, but if it's a "special" picture, one that I want to put up somewhere, I will take off my sunglasses.

I never wear sunglasses in buildings.

Well as you can see in my sig, my DH never takes his sunglasses off. In all fairness, this was technically outside, but we were in a covered area. My MIL also wears those transitions glasses and our wedding was outside, so in our wedding pictures it looks like she's wearing sunglasses. Not happy about that one. I have sunglasses too that don't really shade things, so when I'm inside I frequently forget about them. As far as ettiquette, mmm I don't know. I guess try to remove them inside if you think of it. And try to remember to take them off for photos.

:confused3 I wear mine almost all of the time, but they are not very dark. Even in buildings.I really dont have time to take them off. plus, I am still trying to avoid the Feds.

I am amazed to still see those black on black glasses!! Mine are fairly clear and I rarely wear while in a building. As for pictures, that makes me think of Tom Cruise and EWWWWW :badpc: That is a no-no :scared:

Ok, I'm curious. What's the point of almost clear sunglasses, and are they really even sunglasses? If they are almost clear, how do they block the sun's rays from reaching your eyes? Sounds more like you are describing just lightly tinted regular glasses.

I hear ya there is NO WAY I would EVER let DH do that!! YUCK

thankfully sunglasses are way to much of a pita for him so he doesn't even have any!
just talkin bout lil old me here!

Yup Beth I am thinkin I would have made MIL take them off in the wedding pix! (my mom has those too and she did take them off - she couldn't see but the pictures look dang nice!)

Michi I love you - you kill me!

They have a pinkish tint to them -
and they do block UV (I have worn sunglasses more since the lasiks surgery and I have a vast selection but these are my fav at the moment!)
They are great because when I go through tunnels or shady areas I don't have to pull them down or off to see! i just love them

I wear what I believe she does, they still offer the uv protection and I can go outside without squinting. I love the newer sunglasses

Regular glasses can protect from UV also. We just got DD her first pair of glasses and they are UV protected. I want my sunglasses to be dark - that's the point to me. To each his own.

They're are some really cool alternatives out there for people who want protection but not dark lenses.

Here's a great pair:

I can't wear dark glasses. It gives me a headache.

I wear sunglasses all the time, but never in buildings, or photos, unless, I'm getting a photo taken in a building or with people I really don't like.

I used to like the dark ones untill someone pointed out to me that people can't see your eyes and then have a hard time talking to me. You must have light colored eyes. I was told most people with very light eyes are more sensitive in the light than my dark blue eyes.

Sunglasses hide a multitude of sins....That being said, I wear mine always. Rain, snow, sleet or hail(like the mail delivery), my sunglasses are always on me. However, if I'm indoors having my picture taken,(which is extremely rare) the sunglasses come off. For 2006, we'll all see the trend of larger, darker sunglasses...Like what Jackie O always wore...

For the most part (except in WDW- where I wear contacts) I wear prescription sunglasses. If I'm running in and out of a store, I'll leave them on. If I'm inside for a long period of time I'll switch them for my prescription glasses.

I've also forgotten my reg. glasses sometimes, and am forced to keep the sunglasses on. If I run into someone in this situtation I'll usually leave them on so I can see, but I'll make mention of it so they don't think I'm being rude. (I've also just taken them off, been blind as a bat and continued on a conversation)

Say it isn't so :guilty: Big dark glasses? NOOOOOOO!!!!!

I have light, sensitive eyes, I always wear sunglasses outside, unless it is extremely overcast. And I wear dark lenses. I leave them on inside if I am just running in somewhere quickly, like to go to my PO box, otherwise I take them off. I don't take them off for pictures either. I think it looks better to have them on than to be all squinty eyed! :rotfl:
