My summer "uniform" is a simple cotton dress. I'm not a shorts gal. Can I wear my "uniform" on the rides? What about Soarin'? Yes, this is a real question. TIA.

I wear dresses but I wear skimmies under it. I had the most problems at TT.
The part when you go outside depending on where you are seated will lift your dress same at ToT

You may have an issue on in Space Mountain since you have to climb in and out of those vehicles, but everything else is pretty dress friendly :)

My concern is about my dress flying up when the ride is in motion. I should be fine to climb into the rides. The dresses fall 1-3 inches above my knee.

I just wear some type of bike shorts under my dresses so I do not have to even worry. This usually also cuts down on any possible chaffing. I have read about the Skimmies and plan to give them a try.
Hmm. I wear the dresses to stay cool so bike shorts under would defeat that purpose. I would buy regular shorts if dresses won't work.

I wear skirts/skorts and dresses a lot and have never had an issue. The only times I was a little worried were getting into/out RnRC and riding ToT, but for ToT i just had to rest one hand in my lap. I wouldn't be worried about Soarin at all though.

The bike shorts I wear are super thin and replace underwear so I am still only wearing one layer under the dress. I am still cooler than if I wear shorts which are usually a bit heavier a material than my dress/skirt with the shorts underneath.

I am klutz to the highest level and not graceful at all getting in and out of some attractions. I have gone to the park once when I forgot to wear something under and I found that I was uncomfortable getting on/off some of the attractions.

If you are wearing maxi style dresses, then you should be fine. I do not usually wear shorts, but I do wear undies, under a maxi length and find I have never flashed. If you are wearing knee length or shorter, then you can still go without, you just have to be extra careful getting in and out of attractions where you climb in and out.

My early 20's niece always wears dresses and skirts. On a trip a couple of years ago, that's all she packed. On the first couple of days, the heat and humidity coupled with the extra walking caused huge chaffing issues on her thighs. We spent one entire morning visiting gift shops trying to find her a pair of shorts/pants that she could wear under her skirts. (We finally found a capri length pajama bottoms that worked). She could barely walk for another 3-4 days until it healed up.

Funny story. We were at the TOTW Wishes viewing area at Bay Lake Tower last spring. It was a bit breezy that evening. A young lady wearing a knee length skirt flashed the entire viewing area several times when the wind picked up her skirt. She wasn't wearing any underwear at all. It was comical to see my Mom explain to my nieces why she wasn't wearing any underpants. They had gotten an eyeful and just couldn't get their heads around why she wasn't wearing. Everyone around us was laughing at her. Someone volunteered to get her a piece of rope so that she could tie her skirt around her knees. I don't know what she was thinking...

I wear almost exclusively skirts or sun dresses with no issue (and no shorts underneath). They're knee length and flowy enough that I can chase after my kids. I've never had chafing issues, but my DH does (not from skirts!) and he uses Body Glide which was made for anti chafing purposes.

I wear dresses often and never have a problem. Chaffing might be a concern for some but you know your body and if you aren't the type to chafe I wouldn't worry, I never do chafe and get by just fine. I don't wear anything underneath and have ridden all the rides in dresses at one point or another. I say go for it :)

I will say that wearing strapless dresses on Tower of Terror can cause some issues with gravity though and would therefore not be recommended.

I think it is always wise to wear something under your dress. You never know when a gust of wind is going to come or what if you have to evacuate a ride? I personally don't want to be worried about showing everyone my underwear. The skimmies are so light they don't really add a layer that will make you hot.

This has always been my problem. I wear dresses 95% of the time until winter hits and I have to wear pants. I have never worn dresses to Disney because I didn't have a pair of comfortable tennis shoes that would look good with a dress and I am not about to walk 10 miles a day in a pair of sandals. I would think it should be easy to climb in and out of rides without flashing people and the lap bars should prevent your dress from flying up on fast rides.

I too wear skimmies under my dresses. Only time I have trouble is getting off of Space Mountain- I usually have a family member stand in front of me to obscure the view :rolleyes1 However, I have never had an issue with the skirt flying up on rides.

My wife wears sun dresses frequently in Disney. She also is a fan of bike shorts under them, both for chafing, and to avoid giving any unintended shows getting on / off rides etc.

Body Glide or Gold Bond Friction defense for next trip!

I did athletic skorts from Academy this year. I got the longer length ones and they have shorts built in. They were sweat wicking also though I've heard that isn't very effective in humidity. I have to say that they were soooo comfortable. I'll never wear any other types of bottoms at Disney again. I did use Gold Bond Friction Defense to help with chafing.

I have a related question, so I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on your thread. I was hoping to wear maxi skirts while I'm there in September, are there any ride that buckle between the legs? That wouldn't work well with a maxi skirt, so I just want to be sure I'm prepared. Thanks!
