Sunday Or Friday In June?

We are spending the first few days of our vacation (Wednesday, May 31st to Saturday, June 3rd) at Yosemite and Sequoia Natl Parks. Our original plan was to spend Saturday night outside of Sequoia, driving to Anaheim on Sunday and using our 5 day Disneyland tickets Monday, June 5th through Friday, June 9th before leaving for home on the 10th. We have a room at the Park Vue booked for Sunday through Saturday. Now I am wondering if we would be better off driving to Anaheim Saturday evening and going to the parks Sunday through Thursday. I have read threads that Sundays can be lighter crowds and that Fridays can be super busy. Any suggestions?

If we would go with the second option, I am considering staying at Paradise Pier on Saturday night and possible Sunday night to get EMH for Sunday and Monday mornings at California Adventure. Is EMH in summer worth the added expense and longer distance to the parks?

Thank you for any help!

I can't really answer your question about staying onsite (I am a local, but Sunday Mornings are my favorite time). However, I love the fact that you are visiting Sequoia and one of my favorite places in the world (besides Disneyland), Yosemite! We go camping there every year and love it! Have a great trip and drive safe (the drive back is a bit long and boring but you have Disney to look forward to)! The waterfalls will be spectacular this year :)

Most likely, during the summer, the parks will open at 8am, which means a 7am EMH (aka the best EMH -- more people won't want to wake up that early).

We are very excited! I love National Parks and Yellowstone is my other favorite place in the world, so I can't wait to see Yosemite and Sequoia. I am worried that Tioga Pass won't open in time for me to see it. I am also worried that we won't have enough time to see everything. We fly into Reno on Wednesday late afternoon, spend Thursday and Friday exploring Mono Lake and Yosemite and then see Sequoia on Saturday. Do you think I have given us enough time?

That's exactly what I was thinking! I am not too worried about the EMHs at Disneyland because we have one day from our multi-day tickets, but I remember how much we got done at California Adventure's EMH back in November (our first trip to DL) and that was at 9 am. We are early risers, so have no issue getting up and making it to a 7 am EMH.

Do you think Sunday or Friday would be a less crowded day in the parks?

It's hard to say for sure because things will vary, but by experience has always been that Sunday is much less crowded than Friday. However, if you weren't already planning to stay on site, I don't think spending the extra $$ for EMH is worth it *for Sunday*. Monday is another story as Mondays are usually busier. I've found that doing DL on a Sunday is not crowded at all, especially first thing in the morning.

This year we're going for 5 days in August, staying at the DLH so we have EE every day. We decided to arrive on Saturday night, with our first day in the parks being Sunday. We're doing DL on Sunday even though we have EE at DCA because we've had such good luck on Sundays at DL. After that, we'll use our EE the rest of the week.

Your dates are close to the latest opening dates, so odds seem in your favor. However, snowpack is one of the highest in years. They do the best they can. Mono lake won't take too long (it is like Mars to me, in a good way). We stay for a week and we never do everything! You might have time to see a few highlights in Yosemite like Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil, hike the Mist Trail (all in the very crowded valley but so worth it) and visit the visitors' center. It really is a beautiful place.

Sequoia has the great trees and a cavern if it open.
