How do I go about making changes? We have never flown SW before. I have a flights booked for us, but they are very expensive- $333/pp. (My husband is going for a conference, so we needed certain dates). The DING fares down won't work for my husband, but his work is paying for him anyway. I thought the kids and I might come down two days later and then all of us could leave 2 days later- thus saving us a bunch of money!
I can help, I just did this. Go to the southwest website and cancel the original reservation. Then click on the DING fare and when you get to the place where you put in all the names, go half-way down the page and put in the old confirmation number and the name on the old reservation to apply the ticketless travel funds. Easy as pie. If you saved money on the new reservation, it will stay in your account until you use them or one year has passed. Happy traveling!
Congrats Tammy! Do funds go the other way, too? For example, if I book a Ding! but have to cancel, is it just as easy to use those funds towards another fare, Ding! or not?
I have found that any Southwest fares - even the internet fares (I'm now sure about Dings, though), you get a credit for one year from the time you make the reservation. Just go to the travel tools and go to change reservation. If you want a Ding fare, you have to cancel the reservation and then re-book.
Try it!
There are some fares that ARE fully refundable.....amount goes right back to your credit card. The rest of the fares are credit only, good for one year from the time you booked your flight. SW changed their website and they have made it very easy to cancel and rebook at a cheaper price. Also, they don't always advertise a cheaper fare with a ding so please remember to check their website.
